Monday's Musings

This barn is blue - I think it's pretty and it might be for sale. I haven't seen to many blue ones.  (I think I have one more barn photos from our trip last April to SC).  I've been taking pictures of Georgia barns and they will be better!  Anybody have any idea what this type of barn is used for?

My family thinks I'm just crazy - as I'm making them stop to take photos with me - I make them turn around - drive slower - and let me get out if necessary - lol.  That's okay though - I love being crazy and they are used to it.

I hope everyone had a great weekend.  Stayed cool.  The hurricane did so much damage and the fires out west.  And Canada Day was yesterday and I forgot.

Another easy peasy recipe from Pinterest. It is easy to eat some veggies when they are prepared correctly! Cheese makes everything taste better.  We needed to put a little more cheese on it then this shows.  In fact we had it dripping with cheese.  And I added some mozzarella cheese.  It was so good.

Parmesan – Roasted Zucchini

( How Easy Was That ?!)

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY-

Well do no always get offered a second chance  I've come to find out - but if you are given a second chance - don't waste it!
Some people get a second chances and they don't get it or use it.

'GET IT' WILL YOU AND USE IT!

Good Morning, Sandie! I do like the blue barn. I any family a blogger considers us crazy. That's why we get a long so well. :)

I am always amazed at the variety of things you find to post here. Your blue barn could be for anythng from horses to pigs, steers, chickens, implements. I don't see a manure heap outside and that door at the end is pretty big so I am thinking it may just be implement storage.

We passed a BLUE BARN too on a day trip not far from here. Wonder what's up with the color? WHY blue? Kind of interesting since most are red or white. Had to smile at you having people stop car, back up, etc to take a pic. I do the same thing to my hubby. LOL The zucchini looks tasty. Love anything with parmesan. take care.

I might try that recipe even if it doesn't have peanut butter and chocolate.

Sandie, from the shape and length of this barn, it could be one for raising chickens. We see a lot of similar ones here on the VA eastern shore. A clue would be if you had seen some large ventilating fans at either end. Thanks for the recipe.
By the way, Meg Ryan is 52 years old.

Love barns and old houses! !! I like to think about how lived and worked in them and the history behind them. Have a great monday! !!

The barn looks like it might be used for creepy things, oh no! Love that last quote :)

I never used to take photos, now everything I see I think could be a photo opportunity for my blog! :D

Hope you have a wonderful week!

Looks like a plain old machine shed. In Illinois, they are open to the south, no doors. This looks like the end was once 'open' with no doors, then they decided to 'side' it and put in a garage door later on, and protect their machines from theft. Creeps nowdays just walk up and steal any metal they can sell, even though you might be needing it to plow your fields, etc. Nothing should be left open any more!!!

Hubby never questions anything I photograph but I do catch an odd expression on his face from time to time. Hmmm, maybe I should photograph that!

Love the second chance quote. So true. Even the next minute can be the second chance we need, we just need to realize that.

Any time I see someone taking a picture by the side of the road I think they must be a blogger. :)

The barn? No idea! I do that all the time with lots of veggies, yummy! Using the toaster oven of course, so as not to heat up the house!

betty said...

LOL with Jeanie's comment. I think its great that you stop and take pictures like this, Sandie, I enjoy seeing all the barns. Have no clue though what type this would be used for. Interesting picture though! I like that recipe for zucchini; maybe will have to make it next weekend!

stay cool if you can!

We have a long barn like that but ours is red. I think I want to have it painted blue now.

That recipe sounds very good except for the part of turning on oven in this heat. We either use stove top, crock pot or micro wave these days. (Or just eat ice cream!)

I'm going to try that recipe! I've sauteed zucchini and sprinkled on parmesan cheese, so I know how tasty that combo can be. This sounds like an interesting change of pace!

I am glad you are taking the time to stop, smell the roses and take the pictures. Enjoying things as they come instead of hurrying through everything is a true secret to happiness and peace.

I've gotta try that parmesan roasted zucchini! I didn't grow any zucchini this year because when I plant one seed I get a zillion. I need to simply buy a few at the farmers' market. :-)

Isn't that nice, I woke up late this morning, but here it is, my new chance for today.

Pretty blue barn. I like simple when it comes to cooking. :)

I often have that song from the musical 'Annie' in my head 'Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love you, tomorrow...'
My family is used to me snapping photos of everything - they just laugh now.

Hi Sandie...I love cheese on anything and that zucchini sounded good. Oh! Meant to mention that what I believe is the 4th swan just shows his head. It's at the very bottom of the header, in the middle. See his head? (If it's not, just consider me slightly titched. ha ha ha) Keep cool! Susan

Shug said...

Hey there Sandie...I too love barns.
I think there is something about the old barns...Kinda like you just know that those kind of barns are not going to be around much longer...the new metal barns seem to work better for people now days, but they sure don't have the character that the old ones have.
Hope you have a great day.

I have to say that I don't think I've ever seen a blue barn. I don't know why though. Blue is a fine color. Around these parts those long narrow barns are tobacco barns. Believe it or not, they grow tobacco used to wrap cigars in Connecticut. I have been trying to get out to get some pictures of them but have not succeeded as yet. Something else to put on my calendar.

Looks like an equipment barn, but that is a guess.LOL.
The Zukes look good. Next ones we inherit I will have to try that.

You are right, if we do get the second chance, we should appreciate it and use it.

I will pass that on to one who needs it. Thanks.

Life indeed offers you a second chance. Since you forgot Canada Day this year, there's always next year!

Hi Sandie....I LOVE that recipe you shared. Here I thought I invented it, as I have been making it for years. It is awesome! Love the thoughts on a 'second chance' too. Love to you!

Crazy is good...Most of my friends are so use to me they can actually spot something before I do. LOL. I think the blue barn is used for storing machinery of some sort. Maybe it is a repair shop of some kind. I think they made it blue...just because they could .:)

Just wondering how your hubbie is keeping? Well I hope.

Have a great week.

I love your descriptions about your family's reaction to your picture taking. No one messes with a blogger who's on a mission, I say. You are going to take pictures of barns. They should know this by now. LOL Second chances, always should take them. And should offer them out too. Ann

Love any veggies with cheese, and that looks good! :)

jp@A Green Ridge said...

Glad you're looking for barns, Sandie! The zuc looks great...I use cheese sparingly...it overpowers the veggies, I think. And yes, there's always tomorrow...:)JP

Jim said...

Nice barn find, Sandie. :) It is open to a tractor and wagon or manure spreader with that 'garage' type door. Chickens get scared when it hails on tin roofs. So probably not a chicken 'house.'

I appreciated it when students told me that they were having a second chance with getting their education. Even more so for the onces that tell me it might be their 'last chance.'

I can't say for sure but my guess is that barn would be used for storing heavy equipment. Just a guess.
That zucchini looks really good and that's so easy. I'm going to have to get some and give it a try

Our barn is blue, too. A pole barn and filled to the brim with Doug's crap- I mean, stuff. When he complains about my taking over the dining room to do art I remind him that he has the BARN!

You are right, Sandie.. There aren't too many blue barns I don't think... That is a great one but I have no idea what it is used for.

Thanks for the recipe... AND--love the thought for the day... We all need to take advantages of those 2nd chances.
Hugs,

My grandfather had a blue barn and we never knew why but my sister found some info that said people often painted their barns a different color to show their heritage. Way back when I guess it let people know what part of the country your ancestors originated from. Hope your Monday was a great one! I'm up late trying to unwind from another hot day.

Those were called zucchini boats when I made them. Scooped out the seeds a bit. Love your second chance badge. Every day, His mercies are new. :-)

SquirrelQueen said...

Blue is unusual for a barn. I think maybe some of the comments are right about it being a shop for equipment. There may be a larger door on the other end.

The zucchini looks delicious but like you I would be adding more cheese.

Cheryl @ TFD said...

Hi Sandie, I can't sleep so here I am trying to catch up on blogging! I love the zucchini boats. I've made mine very similar to this recipe for years. It's very tasty! My zucchini is still coming along in the garden in spite of the hot and dry weather. I hope to harvest a few soon. Hope your week is off to a good start! Take care. ~Cheryl

BTW Sandie-
I used your recipe on yellow squash and it was great!! I grew some yellow squash this year for the first time and let it go too long before picking it. They are HUGE - the size of goards. Not as good either!! But couldn't throw them away!!
