Virus

I received this note from a friend and I wanted to pass it to you -

"I'll send a real note later, but wanted to get this out right away.  I'm sure you're aware of the huge threat to computers, now and especially next Monday, but here are a couple of good links.  The first tells you if you're already infected, the second has all kinds of information.

Another friend sent me this:

Subject: check for virus - Domain Name System Changer




They have been talking about this for a day or two on WSB.  It has also been on AOL.  Apparently it is a real virus. Everybody needs to check their computer to make sure it doesn't have some kind of virus.  If yours has it, after Monday it will be dead if you don't get it cleaned up first.  After you go to the page, if the background is green, then most likely you are good.  But if its red, then you need to clean the virus off immediately.     Thanks for the info. I had already heard about it and we are hoping everything is OK with our computers because the web site you provided a link to has been down tonight. Perhaps it has crashed because too many people are trying to check on it. Keep your fingers crossed for us. Have a great week!

    i kind of don't understand this stuff, but I ran my regular security software and it was fine. I couldn't get onto www.dns-ok.us ever. It always said the site was down. and the other links led me to my main security. I sure hope I'm fine. I need my buddies tomorrow!!!! Thanks Sandie for the warning and the links. I sure hope everyone is alright!

    This has been all over Yahoo the last couple of days. Apparently the FBI discovered this malware server and put a temporary "patch" in place. Now the patch is expiring. They said only about 70,000 computers in the US are actually infected. Both of my computers are clean.
