Fun Fridays with a little help from my friends. . .

Thanks Carmen/sis.

I'm not checking all these...but they may be.

If you yelled for 8 years, 7 months and 6 days you would have produced enough sound energy to heat one cup of coffee.

Banging your head against a wall uses 150 calories an hour.

The flea can jump 350 times its body length. It's like a human jumping the length of a football field.

Right-handed people live, on average, nine years longer than left-handed people.

Polar bears are left-handed.  (Does that count for Polar Bears)

An ostrich's eye is bigger than its brain.

I had a couple other shots of barns and I saved the best for last!

Well it is a nice barn - right?

And my best shot!

And a couple things I want to share with you I found interesting.:

Ancient Chinese secret.
How to separate an egg white from yolk. Watch.

Thank you Monica - The Chicken Wranger

A beach with a constant stream of strangers walking past makes it all to easy to end up with stolen keys, camera, phones, etc. I cut the bottom of an old lotion bottle almost completely off and use it to tuck my phone, car key and money in. I close the bottom and leave it laying on our blanket in plain view. No one wants to steal someone else's tanning lotion. They can make off with my beach bag, but all they will find is some books and lip balm.   Thank you from BlondeesDiary - click here.

Goodbye Tyson Foods!

Subject: American company eliminates Labor Day!
Very disturbing! ty

Tyson Foods eliminates Labor Day in favor of Muslim Holiday! I think that
you will find this very Interesting. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at
a time. How do you take over America? One American at a time. Tyson chicken
anyone??None for me, thanks! We all need to heed this message!

TYSON FOODS ELIMINATES LABOR DAY IN FAVOR OF MUSLIM HOLIDAY

Tyson Food in Shelbyville, Tennessee has eliminated Labor Day as a paid
holiday in favor of the last day of Ramadan because they have 700 Muslim
employees. The fact that they have almost that many non-Muslim employees is
beside the point apparently!

I will no longer purchase any Tyson products. It's just one more little
chunk of America that's been bitten off. If you wish to join me, then let
your e-mail friends know this. If we don't stand up for something we will
fall for anything. All it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do
nothing.

I did not believe even Snopes, so I checked it out myself:

Sure hope your Friday is a fantastic one! We're waiting to see if it's going to rain or not this weekend. Hard to make plans when the weather is uncertain. We may just be inside celebrating.

Great stuff today!!! Loved the egg yolk video and I'm going to try that. Good barn pics. Like the drain pipe and fact list.

No more Tyson. Have a great weekend.

Knitty said...

Love that drain pipe!

Regarding Tyson Foods, the union negotiated the contract that favored the Muslim holiday over Labor Day, but that changed and Labor Day was reinstated. http://www.snopes.com/POLITICS/religion/tyson.asp

Did you know that I can't see a barn now without thinking of you? Lol!!

Drain pipe is hilarious! Tyson is NOT!

Love that down spout! I am glad to read the comment above re Tyson. Although I feel that the company was probably trying to recognize a sizable part of their employee population. Glad that Labor Day was reinstated - don't see why they can't do both! When I lived in Toronto my school was 60% Jewish so we got both Jewish and Christian holidays off. We kids thought it was great. I have never like Tyson products anyway.

Yes, I laughed out-loud at that drain-spout!
You've so much good info here, Sandie, particularly that nasty business of Tyson Foods. I'll be sure and pass that business along to my friends and family.

Have a wonder-FULL weekend!

Oh My Goodness... I just read something on your blog that shocked me!!!!!!! I read that right-handed people live longer than lefties... YIPES---I'm a lefty.. SO --I told George that he was going to out-live me... He said that he doesn't believe it. (Truthfully---I do hope that he out-lives me. I don't want to be left without him!!!!)

Have a great weekend.
Hugs,
Betsy

Sandie, it's mind boggling to me to fathom where you find all this great, funny, informative stuff to share. I love the egg yolk separator ..........I will try that once I complete my Chinese language school :) Especially love the candy corn, you're just a girl after my own heart! They always say I'm a cheap date because I love candy corn!

That really suck about Tyson Foods.
Love the lotion idea for the beach.
Love the barns and the gutter drain. Hope your day is going well.

Really interesting page, Sandie. I think I read left handed people die earlier because of accidents - everything is set up for right handed people. There has got to be an easier way to heat a cup of coffee! Love the barn pictures. Have a lovely weekend.

Susan said...

Hi Sandie....Your last barn photo with the fluffy white clouds nearby, was, indeed, very lovely.

Cute post. Lots of smiles.

Take care and have a wonderful weekend. Susan

Great post, as usual.:)
NO more Tyson!!!!!

Sherry said...

Hey, loved the egg yolk trick. neat! Good read.

I read where Tyson was one of the few Christian Companies. The unions forced the change, but as Knitty said, it is now changed back after the uproar caused by the e-mail. Soooo the net does do some good!
I am borrowing Sherry's computer and it misspells terribly! They are watching a movie a d I am trying to figure how to find my dash board, and cannot. HA!
We had two Lobsta each tonight!
Love from Bangor.
This is really Jack......

I remember when we wanted to eliminate Labor Day because it was Socialist and Communistic. Oh Dear. I will send it to my SIL who has a Tyson plant in their town.

I like Oriental lady's way of separating the egg yolks. Clever. Oh yes, Mrs. Jim wants me to try it. Have you?

I like your new header picture. You come up with some really nice ones. That is an advantage of having 'new Blogger.'
..
BTW, can you find a typo in this?
"We could all take lessons from out pets?"
..

Jim said...

I like your bottle storage idea also. But seems I am too old for the beach unless a grandkid gets me to go there.
..

Jim said...

I like your barns today too! They are great old fashioned milk-the-cows and keep-the-horses type barns we had in the Midwest.
..
I'm stealing your egg yolk separator idea for tomorrow morning's blog.

Hey it's Wanda. The doctor is very unsure at this point if Alice will ever walk again. There was severe damage to her spinal column. The surgery has relived some pressure on the nerves so she has some feeling back on her legs. She can also wiggle her toes but can not move her legs. She is unable to bear any weight at all so she is bed fast. Her prognosis is uncertain at this time.

SquirrelQueen said...

That is one very beautiful barn.
I really like the bottle idea, while I don't take my phone near the sand it would be a great way to hide the car keys.

Granny Annie said...

You know how I love barns and you find the very best.

Guess the "egg comes first" and glad to know how to separate the yolk.

And about the chicken -- Tyson Chicken. It is called "freedom" thank God.

The barn photos are awesome! And you really did get a remarkable photo with the pretty clouds in the sky! Happiness is MY state...that's my motto! Hugs1

good on Tyson for actually recognizing a NON Christian religion. I can't think of any American company that honors any holiday other than non secular or Christian holiday....so I think it's great that Tyson is recognizing that they have employees of other faiths...especially the Muslim faith who historically gets such a bad reputation. I'm actually disappointed that so many of you are ready to stop by Tyson based on this reason alone.

Working Labor Day is NOT a huge deal. I've always worked jobs where I've been required to work ALL holidays (Christmas was often included).
