Thursday's Thoughts

Okay - I am recovering today.  Comcast came yesterday.  I have never heard of this, but when the lightening hit the Comcast line - it came in the house - and hit parts of a unit.  For example - it took out two full televisions, but on the printer it only took out the fax part.  The VCR's - one it took out the DVD ability the other one was totaled I guess you'd say. LOL We have a splitter in the house  because there are a lot of televisions - all old - we own no flat screens yet - but we still needed the splitter to pull more power into the house for all the sets.

The first man put in a new splitter and it still didn't work.  It needed new wires he said and he couldn't do that.

Guy number two came - put in new wires through the walls.  We got reception back for the televisions - although two TV's are blown at this point. Okay he thought he fixed the computer problem too - because when he left - it was working.  It was working when it wanted too - but it was totally random.

Guy number three came out last night and said the new splitter was bad and put in a new one - and of course the computer worked. He did say to the hubs maybe you want router.  They don't check that type equipment. As soon as he leaves - wham - the computer internet was out again!!!!!!

Hubs got to thinking - he needed to test each computer individuals hook up to the router -  if I am spelling that right.  And low and behold the router to his computer was blown - he put his in a new one.  And praise the Lord and hubs for internet that has worked all morning!!!!!!!!!!!

So see - I am giving hubs kudos galore!

This was the most interesting problem I had every seen.  Now I can’t say hubs was totally calm the last three weeks - in fact I can say he was not - but he got it fixed!

Oh no he didn't I just tried to save and guess what - no internet.  The saga continues!

My router is probably bad too....no dog house tonight!   Just messing with you all!

Okay my router was bad and hubs fixed it - so far - I'm back on.

Both cartoons made me laugh. Good ones. I can relate to computer problems...so frustrating when we all depend on them so much.

I know how frustrating cable/internet problems can be...we have had some of those too recently. Isn't it interesting...15 years ago, most of us didn't even have the internet and now we can hardly live without it! Enjoy your day!

Oh man! I can so relate to your frustration over all of this technical stuff. Makes me crazy when it happens here. Kudos of your hubs for getting you back with us...right where you belong.

We had trouble with one of our lines coming into the house and I can't tell you how many calls and visits it took for it to finally be fixed! But worth it since I am lost without my computer. Glad to see you online! Hugs, Linda

Now the moral to the story is that everyone THINKS they have the answer but until the problm is solved.....it is only speculation

May the new router keep your route on the internet clear and trouble free!

My money is on hubby any day. Comcast is from another planet and it is NOT Mars or Venus. I think they emerged from a black hole somewhere and that is a feat in itself. We need COMPETITION!!!
If you say Comcast around here Bob goes ballistic. Does anyone else hate that little eye that keeps falling off the tv?

We just never know how much we miss something until we don't have it. I surely do hope your internet problems are ok now. I just got groceries and am getting things ready to go to the camper tomorrow. I want to get going early so as to enjoy most of the day, I have to come home early Sunday in order to babysit. It's a little over an hour away. Not too bad of a drive at all. Hope your Thursday is a great one!

I always thought we were the only ones with such power surges/outages like that. Your hubby sounds like a great guy to have around the house. :)

Strange--we just had to have our router removed also. It was put in a little over a year ago because the old one was worn out. Twice recently we had problems with a brand new printer/copier and then our internet connection just seemed to die. Turns out the "new" router was the cause of all the problems!

Wondering were you were!!! Now I know. We had the very same thing happen to us in one of the hellacious electrical storms when we lived in Tucson. Even with all the precautions I thought we were protected ----not so, we lost our computer AND two TVs. Now when the storms even threaten to come close, I'm unplugging and taking NO chances of that ever happening again.

Glad you're back. LOL on the pincushion. Gotta love that one.

That pincushion is awesome. LOL!

Oh Sandie....What a series of dilemmas. So sorry. God bless you all. Hope hubs got the problem fixed now. The age of technology. Sometimes good, sometimes rotten, eh? hee hee Susan

I DO NOT like computer, router, any kind of problem like that. I DO like your cartoons. Glad it's all fixed and hubby gets to sleep "in".

Well WHEW. What a saga! My sister once had a lightning strike, and it did all kinds of wonky things there too. I'm just glad you got it all figured out.

Oh, it's sooooo nice to have computer savvy humans in the household. What will I do when my son moves out???

Ann said...

there is nothing quite so frustrating as computer problems and being cut off from the internet.

Miss Debbie said...

Bless your heart...what a mess! The quote about adversity is certainly true. Hope you won't have anymore of that for a while!

computer problems give me a rash...I am glad yours is getting corrected...what a head ache for you.

KUDOS to hubby, my friend, and to you for keeping a sense of humor. It pays to not take life too seriously- or ourselves.
Crossing my fingers, toes, and would my nose if I could, that your computer gets back to normal.

To err is human; to really foul things up, you need a computer.

Pretty much covers the issue.

I hate when stuff like this happens. Freak accidents are rare, but cause so much havoc. Now if just a router would fix mine. LOL Hope you stay online now. Take care.

Oh my gosh, Sandie ... I'd have been climbing the walls w/o connectivity; ready for the men in white coats to take me away - lol. (Yes, I'm addicted!!!)
BTW, I loved Andy's first person account of school yesterday. :) What a charmer!

Oh my gosh, I'd have been pulling out my hair! I'm sorry for all the things that have gone wrong with that lightening strike. We don't realize how dependent we are on some things until we don't have them! At least it's that way for me. Hope all is better soon and that your internet stays good! Loved the cartoons!
Hugs,
Cheryl

I can feel your pain. John hasn't been saying nice words the last few days since he changed TV services. Cute little salesman who said if you have a problem just call and leave a message and I will return your call. Liar liar pants on fire.

oh what a laugh. So many of the funnies I laughed so hard.

Sorry about Grandson. Ouch.

Thanks for dropping in.

Better days ahead Sandie.

I am sorry about all your troubles, Sandie. Perhaps ComCast should have had a lightening arrestor on their line? If so and they didn't then they should replace everything that is broken.

If they did have a lighting arrestor then it failed and the arrestor company should have replaced your stuff. Or another yet fault with ComCast, the lightening arrestor was installed incorrectly.

The Dish Company replaced a bunch of electronic gear for our neighbor after a lightening strike.
