The name of the winner of the Woolzies is number 42 and I think that was Tanna at The Brick Street Bungalow . Please send me your full name and address. I'll contact Woolzies and they'll ship it to you! Thanks for playing and this Thursday I have Coconut Oil to give away. I wish I had some for everyone. Sandie
I also saw this one night on the Discovery Channel. Walmart, Publix, Wynn Dixie, and other famous grocery Store Chains sell these fish. Do not buy any fish from China, or Thailand. I have studied this. The cleanest fish are pollock and cod, from Alaska, Washington, Oregon and California waters. Flounder from Pennsylvania, Shrimp from Texas through the Florida Coast. (Gulf Coast Shrimp) Oysters from Texas to Apalachicola Fl., Pond raised catfish from Arkansas are the best. but the Obama Administration has put so many restrictions on pond raised fish, many have gone out of business.. Also Bainbridge Ga. sell pond raised shrimp, scallops, catfish and tilapia.
Thank you Sharon and Monica
A word to the wise.
Asian Catfish Farms
We purchased Basa a year ago; it looked and tasted good. Being from Minnesota, I got curious as to where it came from. The fish basically come from a watered-down septic tank. No more Basa in this house. Now you may find Swai; just another name for Basa. You will also find Basa on some restaurants menus, possibly under another name.
Asian Catfish Farms.... You gotta see this!!
The next time you order Catfish, or any fish-- keep this video in mind. You should be asking yourself, "Where does it come from?"
Basa fish is just another name for catfish.
After seeing this video, I would never buy it as I don't like anything that comes from polluted waters in Vietnam or China or Bangladesh.
You can now cross catfish (BASA fish) off your menu... Just look for the "Made in Vietnam label."
Most of the Asian markets and restaurants use these fish from the Mekong river! This may also be the steamed white fish fillet they serve in many Chinese restaurants.

Credit Card warning and thank you Ann. Do you have Wi-Fi on your new credit card?
Something I found kind of interesting was about packing for a trip - I am the worse.

Happy birthday to your grandson!
And about the basa fish- wow. I will be checking the labels very carefully from now on. Thankfully, we are close enough to the gulf that we can buy fish fresh caught, but every now and then I will buy some of the frozen. Not anymore!
What great information! Thanks for all of the links and videos. You've helped a lot of us today! Happy Birthday to your grandson! Sweet hugs!
Happy Birthday to your grandson. May God bless him with all the good things in life.
Congrats to Tanna:)
You have a great group of information here! Happy birthday to your grandson. I'm going over to read how to pack better, goodness knows I could use it!
Happy Birthday Grandson!!!
Thank you for the website on packing....I am going to Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Nebraska and Iowa with my NEW FAMILY ... leaving on 5/4 and returning 5/18 - I never have been gone that long so I need this video. Perfect timing!
Have a heavenly day my friend!
Good information today....I will have to come back to watch the videos since I am off to spend my Monday morning at the dentist.
Happy birthday to your grandson.
"Grandma got me" is priceless! And it is always good to know what day it is..that is if I'm here on the right day:)
Yikes on the fish. I didn't know this.
The credit card video is scary. You made me check mine and I don't have that. Thank goodness.
Love the grandma got me. That's right on the money.
Have a terrific day. ☺
I will most definitely be checking ANY fish I buy from here on out! And the packing post was great also! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for stopping by.
happy b-day to your grandson! :)
No Basa for me. My husband and I used to love Tilapia, then we saw Dirty Jobs. Tilapia are bottom feeders and like to dine on Bass poop. We no longer eat Tilapia; we prefer fish who enjoy more gourmet type foods.
All so interesting, Sandie! And I really enjoyed the packing tips. When we travel, no matter how long we're going to be gone, we each take only one carry-on. It's amazing how much you *don't* need to take with you, and how a little planning and organization cuts down on the space required.
Happy Birthday to your grandson.
BTW, we never buy fish that's from anyplace other than the U.S. I've never understood why U.S. farmers have to follow all the U.S.D.A. regulations, but we allow the free flow of food products from other countries who do not have those regulations. Makes no sense to me.
Happy birthday to your grandson! This calls for cake!!
I watched the video...gross!!! Hope you had a nice weekend!
Sandie I always learn so much from your blog! Wish Andy a very happy birthday from me!
hugs, Linda
LOVE fish. It's a staple here. Never gave much thought to where it's from, will now. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your grandson.
hi Sandie! Hope your weekend was great and restful. Happy Birthday to Andy!!!
I am really enjoying your blog and all of the wealth of info each week. We stopped using our hairspray that was made in China because of your write-up about it.
Thank you dear friend!!! Happy Monday!!!
Happy Birthday to your Grandlittle, Sandie!
I watched that CPR video, and it's SO important. Thanks for sharing. I know CPR (or did years ago) so this is very good to know how it's changed. I also took lifesaving courses in terms of water safety.
XO,
Sheila
Lots of information! It is a great Monday...the sun is shining!!
A very Happy Birthday to your grandson. I had 3 grands that turned 13 this year. They do grow up so quickly! Hope you have a wonderful Monday. It's finally warmed up here !
I came here after posting almost the same title on my blog this morning. Nice cowinkydink. :)
The fish video makes you sick, doesn't it? I don't cook much fish at home but do enjoy it out. I wonder if all restaurants know where their supplies are coming from? Nothing is completely safe anymore, is it? :(
Speaking of not safe, I am going to check my credit cards after I'm done here. I will be sharing that clip with my friends and family.
I love the Grandma got me picture! I bet at 13 it is a little harder to get your grandson like that, at least when anyone else is looking. Happy Birthday to him!
I don't much like catfish anyway...
Happy birthday to GS! And congrats to Tanna - she is going to love them!
Yes, the pictures on my blog today were from the zoo in Greenville. We stayed there 3 days.
yes Sandie! I did everything myself. You kidding me? I am way to cheap to pay someone. hahahaha.
Ewww...we don't really know what we're eating anymore, do we? Thanks for the videos on the cc's and the cpr. I'll be passing those on. Have a great day!
Euwwwwww!! NO Asian fish for us either!
Loved the funnies...and Happy Birthday to Grandson!!
hughugs
The piece about credit cards was sufficiently chilling. So many of us have no clue! Except I think that modern technology leaves us at risk so many ways. To quote Scotty from Star Trek, "The more complicated the equipment, the easier it is to mess it up." (Or words to that effect.)
Blessings and Bear hugs!
Bears Noting
eeeewwwweee.... I used to eat a lot of Basa. I haven't seen it any longer at our Giant Eagle... maybe thats why. They found it was from a septic system. Good to know!
Congratulations to the winner! We never buy fish but that is pretty scary. Hope your having a nice day.
You certainly know how to pack it in... information AND luggage :-)
I'm definitely going to be more careful with my fish.
Happy Birthday to your grandson!!!
I hope this a wonderful week for you!
12 years old!! Happy Birthday to your grandson. I kow you will make it a great one for him. Thanks for all this helpful information, especially the video about credit cards and the link on packing. We have travelled a lot, but have never been ale to condense our packing down at all. Still trying.
Good thing I don'e eat much fish! lo lHappy Birthday to the grandson!
Had my card out - looking to make sure i was safe - Thanks for the heads up!
-g-
OH LORDY! I may never eat fish again! thanks for the info. Hugs back to you!
Happy Birthday to your grandson.
We're always really careful about the fish we buy and don't buy meat of any kind at Wal-Mart.
Happy, HAPPY Birthday to your dear grandson! How did you celebrate?
Thanks for the information about the credit cards. I will be passing that information on to all my family and friends. Happy birthday to your grandson!!
Aw, lovin' the Grandma Got Me pic:@)
Thank you I have learnt a few things here like the fish thing although I try to only buy Australian fish when I do buy fish......
Happy birthday to your grandson in a blink he will be a teenager.......
I love catfish... Thanks for the tip on where it comes from:) I always learn SO much from you! Happy Birthday to your Grandson! Have a blessed week, HUGS!
Happy Birthday to your grandson...12..he is growing up on you :) where does the time go? I am glad you showed the video about the credit card...I have seen this information before and Frank was going to put foil liner in his wallet. We forgot so I will remind him right away. I would think as easy as it is to get your money and identity stolen that they would make it easier for victims to get things straightened out. PS I will not be eating fish for awhile yuk :(
Sandie,
I had no idea about this fish business-what a shocker and how thankful I am that you have researched this and passed on all this information-wow!
Happy Birthday to your dear Grandson!
He is Blessed to have you as his Grandmother!
Hugs to you!
Jemma
I hope your GS had a great birthday!!
Thanks for the CPR video...good to remember.
Have a great week! :-)
Good stuff today Sandie. Happy birthday to your grandson!
Happy, happy, HAPPY birthday Grandson!! Hope it's super fun and full of all the folks who love you. :)
I like to keep frozen tilapia on hand, but all the bags say Made in China. Ugh. I bought Swai from Target and did not like it. At all. Threw it away without finishing the bag. Thanks so much for the info! Surely being so close to the Gulf of Mexico, I should be able to find fresh, frozen fish!
Turn you against fish
Everywhere I go here in blogs people are talking about food. I may have to go get a snack, Sandie.
yes,, its Monday!
love
tweedles
Hi Sandie. Holy smokes. There was a LOT of information in your post today.
That video on fish was an eye-opener. I thought all our fish from other areas was inspected. I was WRONG.
And the credit card stuff? YIKES. That is horrible.
Thanks for all the good information! Susan
wow, so much good stuff! Happy birthday to your grandson!
UGA should be a good school. I am thinking that it started with a different name. We have a lot of UT's here in Texas. The first one was in Austin and still is the largest of the system.
..
Interesting about the credit cards, glad I don't have one. The other video just came up as an error that happens sometime
Happy birthday to your grandson.
Merle........
Love the last graphic! Yep...decide to be in a good mood! I watched the CPR video and shared it. Thanks!
I'm your new follower :)
Shawn
