Monday's Venting Fragments! Don't forget my {#1 Giveaway} A $50 Target Gift Card

And so has the weekend - for once I'm glad it's Monday!

So I know y'all Pinterest.  But did you know I have a titch (my own work I made up) of OCD?

Well I was going along and happily pinning when I started seeing all - well a lot - of the same photos - there was always a heavy girl and a thin girl and it was about weight loss.  This has gone on now for weeks.  (I play a little silly game with myself - I always try to go through all the pin before I go to bed.  Do you do that?)  My question was why all these pictures about the same exact thing?

I have not been able to get to the bottom of my pinterest pictures  now for weeks.  I finally see why.  I joined a couple people's Pinterest - and like an idiot I said Follow All their groups - now there is nothing wrong with their groups and they have some great photos.  What is wrong is they each have about 300K photos!  Growing by leaps and bounds every day.

I spend half a day trying to delete some of the boards they have - I mean I don't need a thousand boards nor 300,000 photos to go thru everyday - it becomes work not fun.

This probably doesn't even make sense to you - but it was driving me crazy!!!  It doesn't take all that much....anyway if I deleted some of yours by error - I am sorry.

Oy Vey! We have a Formica floor in the kitchen that looks like tile.  If you are ever in a need of a new kitchen floor BEWARE of this product and don't get it.  It's terrible and it's impossible to clean.  We have had it now for about five years.

My husband has been 'cleaning' it for me.  I say this because he is as much to blame as me about this floor (LOL).  He has been cleaning it inappropriately! LOL

So I decided when the kids were gone to really clean this floor.  I went out and bought a couple kinds of floor cleaner machines.  I have tried everything - there are tiny little grooves in the flooring that catch the dirt.

And if you don't clean it right from the beginning the little grooves get filthy and the floor looks horrible.  And yes it looked horrible.  My OCD comes out again.

I washed it with a Hoover hard floor vacuum.  I used Spic and Span and Mr. Clean.  I got desperate - I used vinegar.  I used 90% alcohol - which would have worked if I had soaked the entire floor in it, but I didn't - which was my fatal error.  So now I have a half clean floor and a half dirty floor.  It looks like a zebra and my husband said a few words to me - something like, "Blah blah blah, we may need a new floor because of this".

We went to Lowe's - bought some products for Formica.  We're going back to Lowe's to return them.

Monica one of my original blog friends - told me to use half bleach and half water.  My hubs did not want to do that - he's afraid of bleach.  Now hubs wants to try bleach.  If that doesn't work I want to call a cleaning service.    The saga continues.

Now what is up with this rain?  It has been raining for months (okay so I feel it's been months) with no sun.  I need sun - where's the sun?

Well I insist on finding the positive here - so the positive side of rain and lower temps - the a/c bill will be lower  - it was $411 last month!!!!!!.

We got him 3 years ago on July 4th and they told us they guessed him to be  two.  I have to say we love this little guy - all his many flaws - make him perfect for this dysfunctional; family.  Happy Birthday Disco!

Now I have a question - does anyone have a facebook page?  If so do you know how to set it to allow others to post?  Mine is set up to let others post - BUT - isn't there always a but - they don't stay big like mine do - they go to a section listed see what Chatty's Friends have posted.  Which is good - but I wanted this to be a paper run by all of us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh you poor girl! I can feel your pain about that floor. I was pulling my hair out trying to get my white grout on my tiled floor clean. The only thing that worked for me were Magic Erasers. They were fantastic!

I do hope this week is smooooooooth sailing for you. You've sure earned it!

two birds said...

well i hope your week is better than your weekend! have you ever tried the magic erasers? i love those for cleaning "impossible" things.

Shelly said...

Oh, no! I hope you find the floor solution soon. That would drive me nutty!

And I'm glad cutie pie Disco had a great birthday, complete with doggy cake!

Oh, Sandie, I'm so sorry you've had a rough time!
As for Pinterest, I had one and deleted it, and I haven't missed it one bit!
I hope you can get the floor thing figured out. Just last night I saw this on Facebook. It said it was to clean grout. 7 cups water, 1/2 cup baking soda, 1/3 cup lemon juice and 1/4 cup vinegar - throw in a spray bottle and spray your floor, let it sit for a minute or two... then scrub.
I think I entered the Target GC giveaway correctly. :-)
Hope you have a wonderful week, my sweet friend!♥

I hope you and your hubs were using a mask when you used all those chemicals on your floor. My suggestion is to get a professional in to clean it or get a new floor. Also, get ear plugs and tune out the negative noise.

I looked up Oy Vey and it means expression of dismay, or the same as woe is me... so it fits your week perfectly.. that disco pic is so adorable... i would like to cuddle him... i don't do pinterest and know nothing about FB except i scan it a few times a week...

Happy Belated B-day Disco!

Get a new floor, you'll be happier and it might be cheaper than all you have went through. That was our problem too, those little pits in the flooring that capture all the dirt. HATE it and HAPPY with the new floor.

Sounds like you should have went to Mexico too. Hope this is a better week for you sweet friend.

Just this morning we were talking about our kitchen, but it wasnt the floor, it is our stove and dishwasher....worn out! I guess it is always something. Hope you have a good Monday and week ahead. I look at Pinterest but dont 'like' anyone's pins. I have a FB page, but just go there occasionally.

Sandy said...

Disco is so darlinlg...Happy belated Birthday little guy.
Hope your floor situation turns out!

Rae said...

That is one of the reasons I am so selective on who I follow on Pinterest. I don't like getting so many things that I have little interest in.
Have you considered one of those floor steamers for your flooring? I have a similar type of flooring and my steamer really lifts the dirt out of the grooves and gets it clean.

Susan said...

Hi Sandie....

Oh, woe is me. That floor problem does NOT sound fun. I'd get rid of the Formica once and for all.

Happy Birthay to you, Disco! Tell your Gram you want LOTS of extra treats, not just a piece of cake.

Hope the sun shines on all of you soon! Susan

My weekend [and more than one] frustrations finally came to a halt this morning. I posted about the uncanny 'luck' when I tried booting the computer...and just about 30 minutes after I posted about it on my blog, it went berserk again. I tore it all apart and took the nasty cable modem back and asked for a replacement...now the computer is working again. Properly. Well, at least so far. The frustrations of it all.

Now YOUR post...I had a floor like that when we moved into this house 10 years ago. I couldn't stand it. You see the ground/soil in Texas actually 'moves'. If it's dry it shrinks, if it's wet and soggy it swells...making the entire houses' foundations MOVE. Of course eventually if you don't soak your foundation, you will need some pier foundation work done. And that runs into the $1000s. Anyway, to make a long story short, the tiles on the floor moves with the earth and creates gaps in the tiles. I've had to have the tiling torn up and removed twice in 10 years. It's the cost of living in Texas.

Hope your week will be better for you, I really do!

In Navy Base Housing, we have the exact same floors throughout the entire downstairs. It has been driving me (and my own OCD) CRAZY. Just this weekend I purchased a steam mop. I moped the floor with it twice and I see a huge improvement. I need to go over it one more time, but I really think we are onto something. I can't stand how those little tiny groves catch all the dirt ... and hold onto it!

As far as your facebook page, No,it's not possible to get what others post to be large and easily view-able as what you post. On my business page I have to go through and copy and paste and "repost" anything I want to make sure others see. It's quite a pain in the booty!

*sigh*
Here's to a much better week.

Bev said...

Poor you and your floor... I use bleach all the time!!...Hubs has some great clothes because of it...forget the bleach on the floors...but we had hardwood and there were times I wanted to disinfect them and I washed hardwood with bleach and water....hahaha.... they are still good..... Have a great week...and hope the sun comes out... I can't live without sun either...

You had me laughing and crying. LOve this scatteratic (my word) post. Simply oneof the best. Yep, I think I have a 'titch' too!
The power bill scared me. I been fussing about seeing $230.00 (back at mark's house, he rents from us, utilities included.)

Sweet as always. I have been missing this 'STUFF'.

Sorry Sandie, but the minute I saw Chattahoochie, I lost track of the whole post and all I could think of was Billie Jo MacAlister. But that was the Tallahatchie Bridge, wasn't it. So sorry. Sounds like you could use a break. Sounds like I could use a brain transplant.

Love the 'ruff day' photo. :-)

WHOA! Its been awhile since I last visited and I can see lots has been happening over at your house! I am also addicted to Pinterest which did affect my blogging for the very reason you mentioned....My inbox is loaded with Pinterest notifications. I can never get to the bottom either!

I am also on Facebook...I know you have to go to settings and privacy and select who can see your posts and who can post to your Facebook. If that does not help, email me with your phone number and I will call you and walk you through it.

We have been going to CA every month since last December either together or myself alone for baby showers, bridal showers, weddings, birthdays, births (just had another grandson and a nephew born) and my youngest daughter gets married July 20th. This has been a crazy, hectic year...so blogging has been pushed to the back burner...

Hugs to you girl!

There's no other *venting* I'd rather listen to than yours!

Sorry about the floor, and the rain, and the A/C bill, and the OCD - (we have quite the titch of it in our family, too).

But, congrats and Happy Birthday to one of the happy highlights in your life - Disco! I can't believe it's already been 3 years that he's been part of the family. Time flies...

Bless your heart, Sandie... Sorry about your kitchen floor. Hope SOMETHING works for you finally.... That is frustrating.

Today is the first non-rainy day for us in a LONG time. We had 6.5 inches Sat. and Sun... Unbelievable!!!!!

Wow--your electric bill is unbelievable. We have a small house and seldom use AC... Our bill is usually no more than $100 a month...

Hope this will be a nice week for you.
Hugs,

Happy birthday to Disco! I decided early on that I would limit my Pinterest to one or two days a week. On the other days, I don't even open it. It can get to be all consuming and I don't need to spend my time that way. But I understand what you mean. And I can purely sympathize with you on the floor. I had one in our last house like that and it would take me hours to clean. Still it would be bad by the end of the day. I am so happy to have hardwood in my current kitchen. It hides everything but pug hair.

TexWisGirl said...

good luck on the floor! wish i could take some of your rain! better still, wish we could push it to colorado and california and places that really need it!

Theresa Mahoney said...

I would really recommend getting a hard floor steam cleaning. I am OCD about cleaning and even thought I mopped my floors daily, they still had dirt in the groves. When I bought a steam mop, I was amazed at all the dirt it lifted out of the groves. Ah-Mazing!

Happy birthday to the puppy! He's adorable!

I have one of those terrible floors too- all the grooves catch dirt and cat hair and I get so frustrated. It's kinda like my fridge...I'm just waiting for something to go wrong so I can get new!

For the first time in my life, I'm happy it's Monday. The fun holiday weekend was exhausting!
I've had two kitchen floors I could never get clean, I feel your pain. My current kitchen has engineered wood flooring - but that's not so great either. It doesn't like to be wet. I don't think there's any perfect kitchen floor solution. Sigh.

MunirGhiasuddin said...

Awe Disco - - you are precious !
I know carpet cleaning is no picnic. Our carpet is getting a little bumpy now. I think the wood underneath is kind of warpt. Oh well, when winter comes it will be back to normal hope fully.
Take care of yourself Sandy. There will always be something to do. Catching up with R & R is equally important.

Happy Birthday, sweet little Disco! And guess what? Sunny's birthday s coming up in a few days and he will be 5, too!!! No to the bleach, hubs is right, FUMES...sick dog, sick boy, stay away from it, it has almost killed us! You have tried everything, now turn it to your advantage and get a new floor. A good friend who is a flooring expert told me only laminate for the kitchen, ask me later before you buy if that is what you will do.

I'm sorry you has a rough weekend! Hope the week goes better, but if its like here and it's RAINING again, I don't know what to say! I'm needing sun too.

I know someone who just put that kind of floor down! I'm not telling them......but my tile grout gets horrible and I bleach it, I even painted it with grout paint and that is already starting to look bad. I think our next floor will just be concrete. Now they can make it look like tile.

Lynn said...

Thank you, you just confirmed my biggest fear about Pinterest and why I haven't done anything with it! I like just nosing around the "main" pages. Have a great week:@)

Terri D said...

We have porcelain tile in all of our rooms, except the bedrooms. We have a company come to steam clean the tile and grout, twice a year. I use a steam mop most of the time, but it never gets as clean as when the company does it for us. You might want to give a steam cleaner a try.

Hope your area avoids the flooding. We finally got sunshine two days in a row! Disco is a doll!!

Oh Chatty Oh Chatty Oh Chatty Oh.

I'm back, I'm tired and with your troubles I was pleasantly thankful to simply hear from you and be apart of your daily issues. Thank you Friend!

Did I tell you we yanked up our gawd awful slate floor this house came with and put down lovely laminate wood? It was a nightmare to walk on, uneven, dirty and dark. We now have a lovely, wonderful floor, that we love and it is easy to keep clean. I say Yank it, toss it, and get new flooring, but what do I know???? hahahahahaha (hug)

Awh you are so sweet in your comments to me about my outfit and my color scheme and all that. (hug) again!

Oh my gosh, Sandie ... could you please send me a dose of your energy? Sometimes I think the reason I chose our tile was to disguise the dirt! lol.

Please give sweet Disco a big, belated birthday hug from me?

Hi Sandie! Oh, girl, I do hope you find something that will take care of your floor...soon! Otherwise, I'd be tempted to rip it our and put down something that is easy-care.

I don't do Facebook, I just don't have time! Pinterest caught my interest, so I signed up for that but haven't done much with it. It's time consuming, too. I have a hard enough time keep up with commenting on blogs! How do you do it all?

Hope you have a better week than the weekend! Take care.

Lynn said...

I think it's time to replace that floor. :) Having said that - I regret my wood laminate floor that is so darn finicky and haven't replaced it yet either. :)

Debbie said...

I have a touch of that OCD myself and a few pinterest irks. My problem is that I want my boards listed alphabetically and can't figure out how to do that or if I can do it.

I actually don't follow that many people and really don't care to have a boatload of followers either. I pin differently than most. I don't look at the pins that come up from my followers to get inspiration on a regular basis. Instead, I just look in the search engine for the topic in my head that day and go from there.

As for my own pinning, I use it to pin the stuff I see (mainly in blogs) that I want to save. I think it would make me bananas if I followed too many people. (Says the girl who is still trying to delete pictures from her over 17,000 saved pictures.)

I hope you get the floor resolved! By the time we put down our tile earlier this year, it was nearly impossible to get the old one clean. Hated it.
