More clowning around in Mexico! This time with a monkey.
And a spoon.
Paying it forward or Karma...
Now you know - when you help a friend - you never know how it will come back to you - this time I was blessed. It is kind of funny. I had spent hours removing google+ from my blog. So when dear Marydon was having trouble with google+ and wanted it off I told her I would be glad to do it.
I removed google plus - but I some how got her comments not to work.
There is a difference between having a google account and google+ = those are two separate things.
Now you can merge the two accounts to make one.
Well I had two separate accounts she had merged hers together.
I have to admit I spent days and hours trying to fix things to no avail.
Finally I asked another friend for help.
She had it fixed in a hour!
Well Marydon was very grateful - even though I messed her up - to try to fix it. Look at what she sent me. It is a lamp - on a beautiful stand - with a dish and teacup - with a little light. And it is so pretty and really a delicate piece. Now I need someone to come over and see it - it will be a great conversation piece. Thank you Marydon - sorry I messed it up, but thank goodness it is working now.
MY SISTER IN LAW WORKS FOR KOHL'S and sent me a coupon if you are interested in it.

AND A QUICK HEALTHY RECIPE - submitted by Jenn of Three Graces.
GRILLED CABBAGE
This is from: http://greenlitebites.com/2010/06/28/roasted-grilled-cabbage/ :
"I have a confession. This summer loving home cook has no grill. :( We HAD a grill at our old house but it became a casualty of the move and now a new one just isn’t in our budget. Unfortunately the deck where that grill would love to sit is also out of the question but I digress.
As the name suggests I’d much rather throw these on the grill however, they work perfectly fine in the oven. So why not?
If you’ve never had grilled cabbage you are in for surprise. It’s hardy, super light in calories and very filling. I flavor mine with a bit of lemon juice, worcestershire sauce, pepper and bacon bits but you could really use anything. Even the toddler was intrigued by this one and asked for a bite. He gave it 2 thumbs up. The husband didn't even bother trying it. Just not his thing."
- 1 tsp olive oil (5g)
- 2 tbsp real bacon bits (14g)
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 tsp kosher salt
- 1/4 tsp ground black pepper (more or less to taste)
- 1 Medium Head of Cabbage
Preheat the oven (or the grill, you lucky son of a b ;) to 425 degrees.
Mix the olive oil, bacon bits, lemon juice, worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper to make the marinade.
I think this looks great.

That's the first time cabbage has ever looked appetizing to me, so I'm going to have to try that recipe!
Love the silliness with your grand little!
Don't you hate it when you work and work at something and it doesn't fix it! I'm with Sandra on the Google+ and for the same reason.
Lovely gift from your friend, Sandie. I'd love to stop in to see it, but maybe I'd prefer a mid-January visit. LOL
I've see that recipe for the cabbage before and it does look good!

What a cute little monkey. What a cute gift your friend sent you for helping her out. I've made that cabbage and enjoyed it. Enjoy your Thursday, Debby
I avoid Google+ and hope I can avoid it forever. I don't care for it one bit. Complicated.
Love the gift. Too cute.
Love the lift and the laugh.
Have a fabulous day honey. Big hugs. ☺
Have you ever tried to do what your GS did with a spoon? I have and I can't figure out how they get it to stick to their noses.
The Lift is so very, very true.
The lamp is cute. I know you are relieved now that the account situation is fixed. How stressing trying to help and then creating another problem. Anyway it is over now. The grilled cabbage looks good. Think I'll give it a try.
cute little lamp/light.
Ohhhhh, that was so nice of Marydon to send you that adorable little lamp, Sandie.
The pig and bacon joke was a hoot.
And the cabbage looked yummy!
Thanks, Sandie, and have a super day. Susan
Cabbage is my favorite veggie and I cant wait to cook it this way. Love all your pictures. Have a good Thursday my friend.
Yum I love cabbage. I want to hold a monkey on my shoulder.
I really like cabbage so I know I'll try this soon.
Fortunately by google+ and my google accounts have not integrated or migrated or in any way infected each other. Sometimes Google is a giant pain you know where.
Hi Miss Chatty...we love cabbage! This recipe is going to be used here. Sounds very good. The little lamp is so sweet and charming. I could find a place for a small light like that.
Hope you and your have a wonderful weekend. Tell grandson. I used to be able to do that with a spoon but have not tried it in a while. May try it soon! HAHA
S.
Hanging with a monkey in Mexico? That is super cool! The grilled cabbage looks yum. I love cabbage!
No, the pant suit is not for just the wedding. I have not bought anything for myself in years. The kids buy, for me. I can and will be buried in that and at 83 I thought of that when I bought it. Who cares about fashion if you don't know it. I do plan on wearing it a few times. It isn't that dressy and it is Navy blue. Joe would actually be able to go to the wedding but this gives him an excuse. I would like to stay home with him.
By the way, that is a cute boy. and I like the design of your blog. Sorry I used so much room on my last comment.
beautiful post :)
Awwww! What a cutie patootie, having a great time.
I can never TY enough for the assist you gave me on that google mess, Sandie. You are a sweetie. So appreciated ... hearts to you.
Hugs,
TTFN ~
Marydon
I've always wondered how to do that with a spoon. Can you teach me?? :)
I want a monkey on MY shoulder! Andy is a lucky young man to have enjoyed a vacation like that!! I love the teacup light that your friend sent to you! What a great idea and a good way to use cups and saucers!
I have not signed up for Google +. I have not known the benefits or the risks, but I've heard from others that Google + can make you crazy, so I'm glad I have not signed up.
So how do I get rid of Google +...I hate it!...:)JP
Your grandson's pictures are the cutest yet! Marydon is very kind and generous! Google Plus and Google Other Stuff, it all confuses me so much and I really don't know what they are.
The cabbage looks great, was it cooked in tin foil? Your 2 pics at the end are really cute:@)
That is a Delicate, Delightful Lamp.
beautiful - thank you for sharing it with us.
I have to say I am grateful to know I'm not the only one that gets to sort stuff out from time to time - and that "ask a friend option" is a super treasure to have.
love & love,
-g-
Thank you sweetie pie for the nice compliments on my post today!!! You made my day. I am feeling really good now. No pain and I slept on my right side last night and didn't get any pain either. Yippee!
This post is fun and informative, which I love. The LIFT is awesome, thank you! We have been eating a version of that cabbage like that for months now. Cabbage is so inexpensive and great for you! We have it with brown rice. I like salsa on mine and HM has soy sauce. We don't do the bacon. I just drizzle canola oil on the cabbage, and add cumin, dill and oregano and we bake it for 2 hours at 350! = NOM, NOM, NOM!
Another good post.
I must try the grilled cabbage...I love cabbage. Did your friend make the lamp? It is very clever and she was so nice to send you a gift for your time spent helping her.I am glad I did not sign up for Google plus. A few bloggers have it and in order to comment you need to sign up for Google plus. :( Will your grandson give a lesson on how to keep the spoon on his nose? :)
Love your grandson and the monkey. Beautiful light too. cute orange at the end, carrying on. thanks for the heads up about kohls.
I'm very adept at messing things up when I try to fix them...computer-based things. I lost all of my comments from way back when I first started blogging seven years ago once. I somehow managed to rectify and restore things...don't ask me how. It was purely a fluke...trial by error!
I like the look of that grilled cabbage!
That cabbage recipe looks really good. I love that you tried to help Marydon. Whatever happened to her sister,Sherry, that used to blog?
Love the kids and their "rricks". xo Diana
I have Google+----but don't use it much. I went back to my Blogger profile, so many people don't even know that I have it. I don't care much for it ---and will never use it as my blog profile... BUT--I do have 166 followers on Google+... They look at my blog but don't comment. Crazy, huh?
Glad you could help Marydon. All of us bloggers need help at one time or another. That is definitely "Paying it Forward" --what you did.... Thanks!!!!
Hugs,
Betsy
You are a sweet friend...and how thoughtful of you to help. Just because we can't be perfect when we help does not lessen the gift and kindness one shows. That was very sweet of you. I love the gift she sent you. That, too, was thoughtful.
Hugs,
J.
MaryDon is so sweet and you were sweet to help. Please will you and the second friend do a tutorial on how to separate the two. We are getting too many social sites to try to keep up with.
have a great weekend
Grilled cabbage is a new concept. I must try that. Weather is almost hot enough for trying that on a sidewalk. Almost.

Hi Sandie .. what a lovely present - and oh boy working around things at times is a nightmare and time consuming..
Google plus I signed in .. but do nothing ...
Love the grandson and his spoon .. he'll hate that picture later in life!!!!
Cabbage is a great veg ... cheers Hilary
...that grilled cabbage....Mmmmmm!! And the monkey in the first shot...I wasn't sure which one you were referring to. [kidding of course!!!]
I remember one summer in Old Mexico when Erik was really young, he wanted his picture taken with an iguana. After he grabbed it to hold it, it started squirming and he kept saying "Hurry up mom, take the darned picture". LOL
AHHH! The monkey in the fist picture! He is braver than I am, and I think I just discovered a whole new phobia to add to my collection. LOL
I loved the recipe for the grilled cabbage and will be pinning that.
As for google +... bah humbug. I'm glad you and Marydon finally got help and worked it out, and what's that teacup gift just lovely??
I hope the spies don't read this, but I sort of put google+ in the same category as Obamacare. No matter how many ways they try to shove it down our throats, it will still have to shoved down there if I'm going to swallow it.
Said too much? Probably.
I meant to say "wasn't that teacup gift just lovely." not "what's that teacup gift just lovely."
need more coffee.
Your grandson is a cutie and the pictures made me smile today. I always enjoy all your posts and will have to try out that cabbage recipe soon too. Hope you have a fantastic Friday!
How sweet of Marydon! You are such a great friend Sandie and always generous of your time.
hugs,
Linda
what an adorable little lamp.
Now the cabbage thing I have to try. Wade hates cabbage but I LOVE it
