I have a new family - triplets!

We went out to grill out the other night and low and behold - when we opened the grill - what do our wandering eyes see?

A squirrel family of three!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The mom must be out hunting food.  We didn't touch them.  Closed it back up.

We aren't sure what to do - so we will wait a couple weeks and check it again.

Now I want more grandchildren for sure - not so sure I want more squirrels.

I can't tell you how many squirrels we have had in our attic.

We may have three more!

They were breathing for sure.

Think how hard their mom worked to get all that nesting material in the grill.
She had a work out for sure.

Nature is amazing - so easy to see God in everything.

SELF HELP:

We all know and love Sandra/Madsnapper.
We got to talking about coffee and the acid in it.
We both have acid reflux and take medicine for it.

Well, I saw this YouTube a few years ago about putting a pinch of baking soda in your coffee.  It changes it from being acid to alkaline.  I have been doing if for years now.

Kind of interesting.

DISCO'S CORNER-

TIME TO LAUGH!

(Do you see what I am talking about?)

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT!

Love, Chatty

I hope those little ones make it, however, not if they plan on making their second home the penthouse in your attic. I do enjoy watching the squirrels outside as they always look like they are having fun and enjoying life.

Awww, so cute. Mom found a wonderful place for them to be safe. Squirrels are evil to some, but I've always enjoyed watching them.

Have a fabulous day and week. Big hug. ♥

i think these are rats not squirrels, never seen squirrels in a nest unless in a tree, our cooker attracts rats.. i looked up baby squirrels and rats and they look identical, the only way to know is wait and see.. do you use the fancy baking soda like in the video or just plain old cheap stuff . i see the little body and now cant unsee it

Sandie, We had some baby squirrels in our gutters one year in our house in Ga and we found a lady in Athens that will take them and care for them until they can go in the wild. I don't have her information but you might want to google Nature Centers and see if they can direct you.

Martha said...

How do you know those are squirrels? I sure wouldn't be able to identify them. Nature is amazing either way. That KFC one cracked me up, I'll never be able to unsee it now either. Have a great week :)

Squirrels or rats ... either way, they're adorable! That one about eating and napping is a panic -- unfortunately, I can relate.

So cute with the baby squirrels! Got to give credit to the mom for being so ingenious with the nest in the BBQ!! Almost like Jack with the feral cats are your baby squirrels!! Disco looks content with being by your grandson! Are the schools opened there for in person learning? Ours aren't yet. I'll have to remember that about the baking soda as I can suffer from heartburn on occasion Have a good week!

What a surprise ! Who would have thought that a grill would make a good nesting place. Hope she decides to move them out soon so you can use your grill again. Yes disco does have a good spot there by your grandson. I've heart about putting baking soda in iced tea before but never about putting in coffee. It will take the acid out. Thanks for sharing your family with us, even the squirrels!

Oh my gosh, a nest and three squirrels in your grill! You are so understanding, Sandie. I think that would have freaked me out if I opened the grill and saw three living squirrels! And you have some in your attic? Now, I'll have to explain why this would surprise me. I love taking pictures of the squirrels at a distance, but they scare me a bit. Remind me too much of other rodents, if you know what I mean haha. You know, my best friend had acid reflux before, and I'll pass this on to her. I smiled at the KFC pic because my first job was at KFC. I was only 16, and I got to sample a lot of good foods there because I worked there. That last picture is too cute. Have a good time at your women's group today, Sandie. That sounds nice being around women your own age and sharing stories. : )

Oh My Goodness, As much as I DESPISE squirrels (since we have a million of them it seems) ---I couldn't KILL those babies... How in the world did that squirrel even get into the Grill (with the lid closed? Crazy!

One thing I've never had trouble with is Acid Reflux... BUT--knowing that trick about putting baking soda in your coffee is interesting... I'll try to remember that in case I hear of someone struggling with Acid Reflux.... THANKS.

How's your grandson doing these days? Back in school --or learning from home?

Have a great week.
Hugs,
Betsy

Congratulations on your new family! Yes we have squirrels in our loft too. They cause havoc, but how could you get rid of those little babies? I bet they'd taste good on the BBQ! Lol.

Bijoux said...

As many squirrels as we’ve had in the woods, I’ve never seen a baby squirrel before. I wouldn’t have known that’s what it even was!

Interesting about the coffee. I drink decaf because I have inflammation issues. I wonder if the acid is the same? I’m lucky to have never had heartburn.

Lol on the KFC. Reminds me of the fedex arrow that I always notice now that it was pointed out to me.

Hena Tayeb said...

Oh look at those little babies! I hope mommy squirrel takes care of them.
Haha about the KFC man.. I had never seen it but yup.. can never unsee it now.

Terri D said...

That KFC graphic has been around a while now and I laugh each time it comes up again! Very hard to unsee!! Interesting about the baking soda in the coffee. I rarely have acid reflux but will keep that in mind! It always makes me happy to see a post from you pop up!! xo

They are adorable! I'm glad you were able to leave them there.

Ginny Hartzler said...

Oh my gosh, they are so cute! I am so glad you left them alone! Great tip about the coffee! I think Disco is in his happy place and all is well when he is with his boy.

Abby said...

I'm sure I would've freaked out a bit if I opened my grill and found 3 newborn squirrels! You're right, that couldn't have been an easy nest to build.
I don't have acid reflux, but I drink coffee, oh yeah. Thanks for the baking soda tip!

Debby@Just Breathe said...

They are so cute. Hopefully they will be gone soon. We had something building in our grill a few years ago but never amounted to anything. Love those jokes and KFC will never look the same to me. I think Gabby has some acid reflux, I will pass that on to her.

That KFC tiny body made me LOL:) Thanks for that! I also want to go on more adventures and be with people. Some day, hopefully soon... sigh! Enjoy your day dear friend, HUGS!

Wow, triplets...they look so forlorn and naked...hope they aren't rats and won't decide to take up residence in your attic or walls.
Now I'm seeing KFC tiny body too..haha..

I don't know whether to offer congratulations or condolences on your triplets. They may be cute now but they sure can reek havoc on your attic and also eat tons of pecans...at least that's the way it goes here t our house!!! We have MANY MANY squirrels in our area due to the fact we live among pecan trees. They can really be a nuisance. I'll never be able to look at the Colonel in the same way again!!!!!

Loved that bit about KFC! Never thought of that.

Hope you are enjoying a beautiful September and getting in some grilling too!

Oh! I just love squirrels! They are so cute and adorable.
Wow! That mom squirrel had triplets. Congratulations!
I could definetely exchange my life in a big city -with yours with squirrels. I'll win in the end. Life in this highly corrupted city -where I live at the present time- is beyond words could describe, the best one might be "horrible!.." My preferance is to live in the countryside or in the mountains with squirrels, coyotes, wolves, bears, mountain lions and all kind of animals, maybe, tigers and lions too. I love safaris with wildlife around me. I'm a bit exotic with my taste. I definetely don't belong into a big city, but in the mountains. Remember! I'm a freelance writer, poet, lyricist. So I need a special and stress free space to write my stories -as an inhabitant of this passing world. I love this blog post, just like all your special entries. Please, tell us how your grandson is doing lately?

This is a nice squirrel story, Sandie. A few years ago that happened to Ken Hoffman, a then Houston Post about squirrel nesting in his barbeque. It carried over for quite some time. We had racoons in the attic. At night the coon would go outside and i would nail a board over the hole and put a baited wire cage trap near. Then we would haul them, it happened three times, to an animal sanctuary farm.
You could do that an when mama is in, put the babies in a bucket and haul them off. Be sure to patch the hole before another comes in. We ended up putting a new asphalt roof on ask the racoons could pull the old wooden shingles down and off.
I see Disco is still in good form. KFC Guy having a small body? He only eats skinned fried chicken. Chicken skin is full of fat, I don't eat it from my pieces.

A tad of soda in water does take away the heartburn. Nice to know, never thought about just putting it in the coffee! Leave it to a little one to point out something we never saw, Colonel Sanders, you are very small.

Lee said...

Dear little Disco...he's a lovely fellow. :)

I heard a very loud bang on the roof a couple of nights ago...my furry mates and I jumped at the unexpected loud noise. It was a possum jumping across from the highest tree branch...because shortly after it landed it went thumping across the roof, the noisy critter!!! :)

The little squirrels have a safe haven.

Best wishes, Sandie. :)

Thanks for the baking soda/coffee tip. I take my collagen in coffee daily and it is hard because it upsets my stomach, the coffee, not the collagen. I read somewhere there are coffees that are not processed with all those nasty chemicals. But it is pricey. The squirrel phamily is amazing. God is sure a great creator. :-)
Always my pleasure to pop in to say hello.
Take care and enjoy a wonderful week. HUGS across the miles. XO XO XO XO XO

I think those are chipmunk babies? If so, they should be in the nest 4-6 weeks and then you'll be able to use your grill again. Thank you for your patience. ~Andrea xxx

Never heard that about the coffee...interesting. Took meds for years for acid reflux until I had my weight loss surgery and they sewed up that opening between the esophagus and stomach which makes the acid not so easy to move up. Squirrels are rodents with long tails and not one of my fave wild animals. I had them move into my space above the house, not really an attic but a crawl space and it cost a pretty penny to get rid of them.

Oh my word!!!! Those wiley squirrels!! Seriously I too can't believe how that mama managed this feat! I must confess that while they ARE cute . . . they are so destructive . . . like they have a split personality haha! They regularly battle it out with me over shredding my gazebo screen every summer! Okay - I NEVER saw the 'colonel' that way but yes, now, can't unsee it haha! Leave it to a kid to observe that!!

It's so good to see a post from you. It's been a while and you were missed. That kind of surprise is something not many of us would be happy to find. I guess it must have been awhile since you used that grill. We have squirrels here but thankfully no new babies. I see the same ones running up and down the tree. Hope you continue to keep in touch.
