FEBRUARY18 THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE HOME

Little things to be thankful for:
1. My husband got over pancreatis, had gall bladder surgery, and came home.
He did great with his surgery.

2. My daughter had a great birthday - she's 47 now.  She likes this one Mexican restaurant at Brave's Park called Truist Park - it is not my favorite - but it was her birthday.

 3. Valentine's Day my hubs took me to lunch.

4. I don't get to see my grandson too much, but (and this is so Gen Z) he bought a house in October and never thought to call the water company, and they 'just' turned off his water.  He had to come over in the morning to take a shower for a work meeting before he could call and put the water in his name.  Therefore, I got to see him briefly and get a hug.

5. I am STILL on my diet - lol - am struggling to retain my 12 pounds but I am doing it - I need to lose more.

Do you have something you are thankful for?

THE HELP FOR THE DAY IS ABOUT CPR.  IF YOU DO IT TO THE BEAT OF "STAYING ALIVE" FROM THE BEE GEE'S THEY SAY IT WILL WORK UNTIL SOMEONE COMES.

RECIPE FOR CHOCOLATE ICE CREAM WITH COTTAGE CHEESE.

A DISMAL FAILURE

First, I don't think I used the right blender for it to begin with.  I could never make it smooth.
I added the other ingredients - but the sweetener was NOT enough.
You must use whole milk cottage cheese - large curd.
And while it looked chocolate - it tasted like cottage cheese!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  YUCK!

So, I have looked up another recipe - I am not going to give up because it looks so good and healthy.  This is a mousse rather than an ice cream.

  • 1 cup cottage cheese (I would use whole fat large curd cottage cheese).
  • 3 tbsp honey (or more) (or add a little stevia)
  • 1-3 tbsp cocoa powder Start with one and add to achieve your desired level of chocolatey-ness!
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Add all ingredients to a food processor or blender. Blend together on high until mouse is completely smooth. Note: if it looks grainy, keep blending!
  • Top with whipped cream, fruit, or chocolate shavings!

Glad to hear your husband did well with his surgery and is back home.
That's funny about your grandson. A hard way to learn a lesson but he was lucky he had your house to go to to get the shower.
Interesting video. I bet none of those kids ever heard that Bee Gee's song before that. A fun way to learn CPR though.

I've got to try the mousse. Glad your husband is doing well. I'm grateful for so much today, starting with a warm apartment -- it's cold in NYC today -- and a hot cup of coffee. Plus my bloggy friends!

Glad your husband is doing well. Happy Birthday to you Daughter. I always list what I'm thankful for each day. It's fun to look back on the list and it makes me feel good.

I am thankful for the bright sunshine today after so many gray and dismal days.
Thankful for lunch with my son and daughter in law on Sunday.
Thankful that Dave and I are finally feeling almost "normal" again...
Congrats on the 12 pounds loss. You can do it! I seem to be on a roller coaster weight wise but I just keep plugging along.

What a heartwarming post! It's so lovely to read about all the little moments that bring joy and thankfulness, from your husband’s recovery to family celebrations. Also, the CPR tip with "Stayin’ Alive" is a great reminder of the power of simple life-saving techniques. I’m sure the chocolate ice cream adventure will turn into a success with the next recipe—keep going!

This made me laugh because I have a couple of the Gen Z grands and nothing ever surprises me about the things they think of OR DON"T think of. lol. So glad that all is well with your husband's surgery and his pancreas. Happy late Birthday wishes to your now 47 year old daughter. They seem to get older way too fast. You keep on trucking along with that diet...dieting is so hard, but so worth it. I have loss another 9 pounds and I think it is simply by cutting out my one Dr. Pepper that I had started drinking. Plus...I'm trying harder...have my grandson's big wedding on May 10th and I've already bought my dress. You can do this!! Enjoy this next bought of cold weather...it is reaching here this evening.

What a blessing, your hubby's recovery! My son recently turned 54, and I'm still incredulous! I'm sorry the cottage cheese 'ice cream' wasn't so good, but it sure gave me a chuckle. I tried something like that with lime Jello, Cool Whip and cottage cheese for hubby that wound up getting tossed in the trash.

Glad hubby is doing better. Always scary when you have to go through surgery. Am tired of Winter and we are currently in a deep freeze once again. It was 2 degrees this morning. UGH Janice

Glad you hubby is doing well. Happy 47th to your daughter. That was sweet going out for lunch on Valentine's Day. So is his water working now. Those Gen Z's are something else. Good for you on your diet. Hope you have continued success. I am on a cholesterol diet right now, just trying to stay with all the healthy foods for cholesterol. The fact that I am dealing with several health issues right now, I am going to say that I am thankful because things could always be worse. These things can be fixed. I think I will stay with my plain cottage cheese. :)

First of all, I love the picture "there's no place like home." I'm glad your husband did well with his surgery. I hope he is healing nicely afterwards. Way to go on losing some pounds; that's not easy at all. That chocolate mousse looks really good. That's interesting about the CPR, but I don't think I'd want someone to perform CPR on me to the beat of the Bee Gee's, just sayin.' What if they skip a beat? haha Oh, and I wish that mouse got trapped. You know how much they scare me. ; ) Do I have something I am thankful for?.......Your blog friendship, my dear.

Was the hug before or after having a shower?

Keep smiling and strive to be happy. God bless.

Those are such good things to be thankful for. I have lots of things to be thankful for too. One at the moment is all this lovely rain that God has blessed us with. If this continues we're gonna have a beautiful Spring. Lots of wildflowers, my favorite thing.
We're eating sugar free too. When one goes sugar free heavy cream is not harmful, so, when Steve makes our ice cream that's what he uses. It MUST be sweetened more than regular ice cream, I don't know why. Try that?
God bless. ❣️

Glad your husband is home again. My weight is gradually - or not that gradually actually - creeping back up and up. So hard to lose, and so easy to put on.
