I was with my best friend (who is deceased) and my grandson who was five months old - we drove to my mom's in Atlanta (now deceased) . Sue was watching the grandson and I was helping my mother with her apartment.

My son called me from Cincinnati and said, "Mom did you hear the news?"

"No, what?"

"There has been a terrorist attack in New York - the twins towers were hit by planes!"

"You're kidding!"

We watched the news and Sue and I thought we'd better get home. When we left the streets were filled with people who had come out of their high rise where they had been working. Scared. We headed home around noon and the expressway was almost gridlocked . . .

So much loss in ten years - yet we the people are strong and have moved forward - yet we should NEVER forget the lessons learned.
