Hotel Alyeska

My last stop before I came home. The stop that broke my heart because I knew I had to go home. Not that I don't like my home - it was something totally different. A feeling I hadn't felt in years. I felt like it had my soul right in the palm of it's hand.

"When the heart speaks, the mind finds it indecent to object." – Milan Kundera

This picture is of the sky lift that took you from the hotel to the top. I think in the winter you could take it to the top to ski maybe. There was an observation deck, skiing, and the most wonderful restaurant with the best food ever. One of the best meals on the trip and the last place I had gelato. A man in the restaurant gave me a rose as I was leaving. I dried it and have it hung up in my room. There was a wedding going on at the hotel too. Just wonderful.
The best place I ate was in Seward in my own cabin believe it or not. I had steak, salad, potatoes and gelato ice cream. No pressure - just sitting out on the deck and swinging when the steak was cooking, drinking a glass of wine.

The ski lift - the chairs up - without snow. Can you just imagine the beautiful view with snow?

What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.
- Ralph Waldo Emerson

They shoot this gun off every morning (in the winter) to prevent avalanches for the skiers during the day.

The finale is sad for me like the trip ending was. In the airport I was actually crying. Some woman who I sat next too - didn't say a word - she just handed me a Kleenex.
Some body tole me once - it is what it is. I'm still not sure if I believe that. Is it a cop out or is it acceptance?
Love y'all,
