Hodgepodge Questions-Vol 132
The more the merrier!
1. What's something people might ask you for help with?
Well right now a friend of mine has asked me for help with their blog. The Google+ part. She didn't like it and wanted it removed. I said, " I can do that." (I had just taken it off mine.) WHY DON'T I KEEP MY BIG MOUTH SHUT? I got her Google+ off BUT now she can't comment. NOW I AM TRYING TO HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I FEEL TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I HAVE A BIG MOUTH!
2. What's something you might ask someone else for help with?
Anyone know how to take off/disable Google+ comments - make them separate from Google comments - some how they are joined together at the hip!!!
3. Did your family take summer vacations when you were a child? If so, where did you go? If you're a parent, did/do you plan summer vacations with your own family? Did/do they resemble those you took as a child?
Yes, my dad worked for Greyhound, Inc. He would put us on the bus and my mom, brother, and I would mostly go to Indiana where the relatives lived. Once we went to New York for Christmas to see my dad who was their working - we ate dinner in the automate. Any one remember those? Once he put my brother who was 18 and I was 11 - on a bus to the New York World's Fair for two weeks. We went all over that area. My poor brother. I was such a sad mess. Once in awhile we would go on a vacation together like the beach or once to Europe (my mom worked for United).
Now with my kids I hope the vacations were somewhat better. We tried to go every weekend to a day trip while growing up - like the zoo or a museum. We went somewhere every summer and we went and visited family while we still had them. It was my believe that family vacations were important and that the kids who were brought to all these places and got to experience of seeing different the sites like we did - received another type of education.
Now both my kids take their children on vacation - my daughter and grandson are in Cancun. Grandson has been swimming with the Manatees and got three kisses. And he did some great bargaining for a chess set - they were impressed.
My son has taken his two year old camping already! lol
4. Pool-lake-ocean...which one is most appealing to you on a hot summer day?
Okay this is my dream with money as no object - I would like to be by the ocean - in a villa. The resort would have a pool as well. There would be a bar in the pool where you swim up to and you can sit upon a big rock and have a drink. There is a Jacuzzi of course. Then go to the ocean - snorkel a bit. Lay on the beach in nice lawn chairs with umbrellas. There are nice outside showers with warm water to get the sand off so you can go back to the pool for a dip. Then you can sit in a cabana big enough for two or three - has a canape over it - and lunch is served poolside. There is a wonderful breeze that cools you off just right. And there are lush plants and flowers all around. It's warm, but not really HOT! lol There might even be a lake around there!
5. Have you ever justified using the expression, 'you gotta be cruel to be kind'? Was it really necessary or were you rationalizing?
I have never heard that particular wordage, but I know what it means. Kind of like tough love. I think I have an extremely hard time being tough. That is probably one of my many flaws. I think to be honest - I would have been a better mother had I said no more often (grandma too) and more yeses to myself. I am a softy. Now because of this - I have had to use tough love on myself. I've had to - this is deep - give up my own needs - and say well that's tough - you got what you created. And I have learned to love with that.
6. The Journal of Psychology recently mentioned the results of a survey identifying the ten most hated foods as-liver, lima beans, mayonnaise, mushrooms, eggs, okra, beets, brussel sprouts, tuna, and gelatin. Of those foods, how many do you actually hate? Anything you'd add to the list?
I hate liver. I hate coconut. I hate strong smelly fish!
7. What's your favorite book or movie set in a beach or lake town?
Summer Vacation with John Candy and The Great Outdoors with John Candy and Dan Ackroyd.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
I had never had a lobster. This week with the kids in Cancun - I got a deal from Carrabba's - $15 for a lobster tail, steak, salad, and a side of pasta (remember when I told you to sign up for membership at restaurants?) - it was delicious - they had this great lemon butter - yummy!!! So now it's off my bucket list - only problem is - I like it - I like it - I want some MORE of it!
