"Life is lived forward, but understood backward. It is not until we are down the road and we stand on the mountain looking back through the valley that we can appreciate the terrain God has allowed us to scale.” Jill Savage

Make use of suffering -

So many people - including myself - ask - why there is suffering - why does suffering exist?

I really don't know how to answer that. Sometimes I feel like I know the answer. And at other times, I'm not sure of the answer at all.

I do know knowledge and strength come from suffering. Growth.

"You desire to know the art of living, my friend?
It is contained in one phrase: make use of suffering."
-Henri Frederic Amiel

"The very greatest things--great thoughts, discoveries, inventions-- have usually been nurtured in hardship, often pondered over in sorrow, and at length established with difficulty."
~ Samuel Smiles
The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain.-Kahlil Gibran

Suffering, why bad things happen to good people, pain - I think there are a lot of reasons they exist. How would you know good, if bad didn't exist? How would you know health if pain didn't exist?
How would we learn anything?
There are a few things in life you take in faith. One is the wind, another for me is God, and another thing a friend shared with me - is love. All things you can't see, but you know they exist. That's called faith.
When bad things happen to me - of course I ask why me, and then I also ask, why not me . . .
Something to think about.

Actually I believe that saying:
If life gives you lemons make lemonade!
Some of the greatest works of art and literature have come out from bad experiences.
Just think about it :)

Suffering can bring about the most beautiful changes if you'll just allow it - hard to go through, but worth it at the end - usually. Just like the butterfly.

It's true that we learn much from pain...how to cope, how to go on, how to rediscover joy. What do we learn really from happiness and joy?
We experience it, we feel it, but do we learn from it?
Growth I think, can only come, from pain/suffering.

If you look atboth suffering and joy - opposite sides of the same coin - you can't have one without the other.

Which comes first?
