Do you want a rose?

He who wants a rose must respect the thorn. -Persian Proverb

Okay this is something only a few will truly 'get'. You can't get the rose without going through some hard work.

If you think you have the rose and you haven't done the 'work' involved, you do not have the rose.

If you want the 'rose' be willing to work hard for it.It's hard work, but worth it.

Love,
Chatty

I wish us all the 'roses' of life.

Hi Chatty,
As I read your blog, which I always love, I was reflecting on a quote that my son's YMCA basketball coach shared with the guys many years ago....
"The only place that success comes before work is in the dictionary."
I share that occasionally with my
3rd graders, which was the age Jeff was when he and I first heard the quote. It stuck with us and thought it was excellent.
Wishing you a dee dah day...in spite of the rain!
Love ya :)

Ahh, the everlasting thorn.
It's worth getting the rose, despite those dang thorns...so be it, with all things, not easily obtained.

Being of Nordic descent, I am most interested in the THORN...LOL...I'm not sure I am one of the select few to "get" yer meaning...is it similar to Dolly Parton's saying, "If you want the rainbow, you have to put up with some rain?"

So very true!

I think that being a woman puts us into an advantage or disadvantage to understand this.

Maybe it starts at childbirth. Women have the children, painfully, but when the kids get older - I believe the love we feel for them is part of the reward.

Or when Sally Field in Steel Magnolias stayed with her daughter through death (the thorn), but afterwards she could move ahead because she dealt with it.

So yes, Dolly Parton’s quote is good.

No pain, no gain.

And I mean even in the worse case - there is something that you will gain from it - after a while - called strength. Strength is a good thing.
