"Life is lived forward, but understood backward. It is not until we are down the road and we stand on the mountain looking back through the valley that we can appreciate the terrain God has allowed us to scale.” Jill Savage

Leaving Homer . . . .One more stop . . .

The pursuit of truth and beauty is a sphere of activity in which we are permitted to remain children all our lives. -Albert Einstein (May a part of me always be childlike.) ~ Chatty

Isn't that a positive thought? Part of me wants to always be a child. Let me tell you a funny story. My daughter and grandson - we went to Taco Bell yesterday before Choi. An older woman came up and started talking to us. We had like 5 minutes and Kelly and I - well to tell you the truth our heart just wasn't into the conversation. We had the 'grown up' time pressures going. Not Andy - he was listening to this woman and she was telling him how she was raised on a farm with cattle, and about how her boys were in boy scouts, that she was from Virginia and so forth. I was getting antsy. My grandson sat there with his big beautiful brown eyes and long eye lashes wide open - listening to everything she said - and he wanted to go and do everything she described!!!!!!!!!! Oh to be 8 again. Dear God remind me to take lessons from my grandson. Let me enjoy and look at life (sometimes) like a child. There is so much to see.

Oh well, on the the trip with a little side bar.

On the way back from Homer there was a wood carving contest and I stopped for pictures.
This was a bear in a log.

This was a moose.

An eagle.

Chatty and a bear.
This is a cache. A 'cash' box. You put your food in it - up in the air - to keep the bears out - and in the winter - it keeps it fresh and frozen in the winter - just like a freezer.

Finally, my final drive leaving Homer, I saw my real moose. My first really big one. He actually looked both ways before he crossed the street.

He was a real good lookin' one.

Okay the thought I leave you with is this:
The question is not what you look at but what you see. -Henry David Thoreau
Love y'all,

Found a good quote today:
"To me, the sea is like a person - like a child that I've known a long time. It sounds crazy, I know, but when I swim in the sea I talk to it. I never feel alone when I'm out there." ~ Gertrude Ederle

Cool...that cache (baby fort on stilts) is a neat idea. Ahhh, Alaska...that heavens you were smart enough and good enough to yourself to take the leap, plan it, and GO!

Wish all things were as easy to plan as Alaska...

I have never seen a live moose before! How exciting! A lot of nature to take in in Alaska. I don't think I'd care to meet an actual bear, though...

Well I met about 3 stuffed bears and I saw 7 real bears on the Wilderness Tunrdra Ride. No real bears up close for me either.

Hi chatty!
I put my post up for Friday, but can't get on the internet - it has issues - might be a couple days before you hear from me again!
Enjoyed seeing the moose!!! Hurray for Mooses!!! They are wonderfully interesting creatures!!! Michigan is out of funding for the schooling program I went to see about the other day. Just ducky. And, Cash for Clunkers - they are out of money too - the government messed up big time. How will they be able to manage health care??? They better leave it alone for now, is my thought! I will type you when i can!!! Take care!

You are absolutely right ClassyChassy - the moose was fabulous and I pray with all my heart the government doesn't get in control of our health care.
