Tears speak of love . . .

The Anchorage Airport - the beginning and the end.

Who needs a smile when a tear's so full of love?" ~ Madonna ~

Until one is committed
There is hesitancy, the chance to draw back
Always ineffectiveness.

Concerning all acts of initiative (and Creation)
There is one elementary truth
The ignorance which kills countless ideas and splendid plans:

That the moment that one definitely commits ones self
Then Providence moves too.

All sorts of things occur to help one
That would never otherwise have occurred.

A whole stream of events issues from the decision
Raising in one’s favor all manner
Of unforeseen incidents and meetings
And material substance
Which no one could have dreamt
Would have come your way.

Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it.
Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.

GOETHE
This probably doesn't mean much to you - or mean to you what it does to me - but for me - it's a good way to end my adventure. What may be the ending of this one - may be the beginning of another.

So tomorrow it's a new week and I have some 'odds and ends' that I have been saving I want to talk about.

The week after I have plan to start celebrating womanhood with stories about different, yet strong women, who changed the world.

Love,
Chatty
And a thought to leave you with -

Madonna ~ "I don't care if you hate me or love me, as long as I make you think."

Leaving Homer . . . .One more stop . . .

The pursuit of truth and beauty is a sphere of activity in which we are permitted to remain children all our lives. -Albert Einstein (May a part of me always be childlike.) ~ Chatty

Isn't that a positive thought? Part of me wants to always be a child. Let me tell you a funny story. My daughter and grandson - we went to Taco Bell yesterday before Choi. An older woman came up and started talking to us. We had like 5 minutes and Kelly and I - well to tell you the truth our heart just wasn't into the conversation. We had the 'grown up' time pressures going. Not Andy - he was listening to this woman and she was telling him how she was raised on a farm with cattle, and about how her boys were in boy scouts, that she was from Virginia and so forth. I was getting antsy. My grandson sat there with his big beautiful brown eyes and long eye lashes wide open - listening to everything she said - and he wanted to go and do everything she described!!!!!!!!!! Oh to be 8 again. Dear God remind me to take lessons from my grandson. Let me enjoy and look at life (sometimes) like a child. There is so much to see.

Oh well, on the the trip with a little side bar.

On the way back from Homer there was a wood carving contest and I stopped for pictures.
This was a bear in a log.

This was a moose.

An eagle.

Chatty and a bear.
This is a cache. A 'cash' box. You put your food in it - up in the air - to keep the bears out - and in the winter - it keeps it fresh and frozen in the winter - just like a freezer.

Finally, my final drive leaving Homer, I saw my real moose. My first really big one. He actually looked both ways before he crossed the street.

He was a real good lookin' one.

Okay the thought I leave you with is this:
The question is not what you look at but what you see. -Henry David Thoreau
Love y'all,
chatty
Found a good quote today:
"To me, the sea is like a person - like a child that I've known a long time. It sounds crazy, I know, but when I swim in the sea I talk to it. I never feel alone when I'm out there." ~ Gertrude Ederle

Fishin In Homer . . .

To understand the heart and mind of a person, look not at what he has already achieved, but at what he aspires to. - Kahlil Gibran

Okay - this story is about my fishin' trip. The song below this blog is a great song for vacations. It'll get you in the mood.

And the video below that is perfect for Alaska! Really cute. How bears are dealing with global warming.

I went on the boat called the Jack Pot - complete with a little dog who as soon as the engine started ran to his bed and stayed the whole time. My captain was Captain Jack.

Now these pins look kind of little but I would say they were 6 to 8 inches long. Each person could only catch two Halibut. No one could help you. We stayed until everyone got two. I was number 21 - the last number. They used these pins to pin the two fish together after we caught them.

Here is Chatty fishin'. Halibut feed near the bottom. Therefore you had two pound weights on the pole plus bate. About every 5 to 10 minutes you have to reel up the line to check if there is still bate on it. It was work. Real work. You get a new respect for fishermen. Notice the silly hat someone talked me into buying? And it was cold - two jackets. I bought a new jacket there - that I love.

The fish to the right - the last two - mine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is one of the first mates filleting my fish. After they removed the fillets and the 'cheek' they threw the carcass out to the back of the boat and the birds were there to get it.

And this is where the fish we caught was brought. You could flash freeze it and send it home if you wanted to.

And that was the end of my fishing trip. It was wonderful!

And as Vincent Van Gogh once said, "The fishermen know that the sea is dangerous and the storm terrible, but they have never found these dangers sufficient reasons for remaining ashore".

Gee, what a good lesson for me - us.

Love y'all,
Chatty
