"Life is lived forward, but understood backward. It is not until we are down the road and we stand on the mountain looking back through the valley that we can appreciate the terrain God has allowed us to scale.” Jill Savage

Meditations for Saturday

The Mantra That Helps You Live Longer
By RealAge

"Search The last thing we all need right now is another doom-and-gloom headline. So try this mantra as an antidote: Good times are coming.

Think it. Believe it. Say it to yourself often -- as often as it takes to put yourself in a more positive frame of mind. Not only could it put more bounce in your step, but research shows it may add miles to your life, too.

It's all about attitude. And the right one did a lot for the women in a study. Those with the most optimism -- a belief that good things will happen -- enjoyed a 14 percent lower risk of dying from any cause during the study, compared with their most pessimistic peers. And the women who saw the glass as half full were also 30 percent less likely to develop heart disease."
So this is something to think about and try.

"Put your heart, mind, intellect, and soul even to your smallest acts. This is the secret of success."– Swami Sivananda Saraswati

Goldie Hawn - (Wikipedia) - Now who knew?

Hawn became involved in Eastern philosophy in 1972. She is a practicing Buddhist and has raised her children in both Buddhist and Jewish traditions. She stated on the Larry King Show that she is a Jewish Buddhist, but neither more Jewish nor more Buddhist; in interviews, she also detailed that she never had to forsake her Jewish heritage to embrace Buddhism and that her Jewish religion and heritage come before Buddhism.

Now I think your mind and keeping it positive is really important - but it's not a religious experience for me - it is more for good health and happiness. Each to their own though - it's a choice.

Love,
Chatty

I agree a postive set of mind and a smile on your face goes a long way toward shaping your life. I also think keeping your mind and body active doing things you enjoy are very important. Thanks for the food for thought. See you are and about early this Saturday morning.

this has always been my thought...as soon as the media begins to broadcast that things are tanking, everyone believes them and the same is true when things turn around. So, you are right!!

so true about having a good attitude and even if the good times take years to get here, we need to just hold steady and do the best we can to help others and be kind and compassionate to others and never forget that even when we think we have it so bad, there are soooo many others who have it so much worse than we do
