What is you INTENT?

So I asked yesterday about determination. One way to get determination is to have intent.

I got this website from Granny Mountain about Intent - My Path to Wellness.

So one important thing is our intent. What do you intent to do today?

I am going to be painfully honest here. I looked at Molly's website and she has lost 40 pounds! I wrote her and she is the nicest lady by the way and she wrote me back with all the information. Now the problem is this - I want to lose weight - but do I intent to lose weight right now?

Honestly no, I have so much going on here - (see I have an excuse) - and it's the holidays (another excuse) and my husband lost his job 3 weeks ago (and I am a stress eater - another excuse) so therefore while I want to lose weight I must want to eat even more. That is what my true intent is.

So I am going to do a loftier goal - one I can do. I don't drink cokes every day, but I do enjoy them once in awhile. So until the end of the year I am giving up cokes. Now that is just one tiny little change - but according to a CD I'm listening to - The Slight Edge - it will eventually make a difference. And to tell you the truth - right now - I intent to do it and I will. If I took on a bigger goal - I might not. So one little goal at a time. My friend Sue did that - all she did was look at the labels of the food she bought - I can do that too! What I'm saying here is for some - they can look at the big picture and do it. I can't. When I look at the big picture is can overwhelm me.
So I am going to do it in baby steps.

What is your intent?

Happy birthday to Lawrence Harvey Zeiger - do you know who that is?

He is recognized in the United States as one of the premier broadcast interviewers. He has conducted some 40,000 interviews with politicians, athletes, entertainers, and other newsmakers. He has won an Emmy Award, two Peabody Awards, and ten Cable ACE Awards.

Still don't know?

On September 10, 1990, while on The Joan Rivers Show, Rivers asked him which contestant in the Miss America pageant was "the ugliest." He responded, "Miss Pennsylvania. She was one of the 10 finalists and she did a great ventriloquist bit. The dummy was prettier." He was a judge for the September 8, 1990 pageant. He later sent Miss Pennsylvania, Marla Wynne, a dozen long-stemmed roses and a telegram apologizing for saying she was the ugliest contestant in the pageant that year.

If you guessed it was Larry King - you'd be correct.

Love,
Chatty

Baby Steps - that is a great way to start ANYTHING huge and overwhelming!

good for you for giving up Cokes for the rest of this year. I think it is Reader's Digest or some other magazine that does a diet Change One Thing (or something like that, memory is a bit fuzzy this morning). But their concept is you change one habit every week for eating. Most of us want the weight off NOW and we reduce to the point of starvation and its doomed to fail. But their theory was make small graduate changes weekly and in time those would pay off. So give us Coke this week, give up second helpings next week, and so on. Sounds liek a great theory but haven't started it myself. My hubby though did make some changes with saying he wouldn't snack after 9 p.m. and also is giving up diet soda (sodium in it).

interesting about Larry King; I didn't know that about him and the Miss America pageant; I bet that is something he regrets having said

Kudos to you for giving up Cokes... I really need to lose some weight but I just can't get the determination that I need to do right now. I know that trying with the holidays coming up is just futile... so hopefully in January I can start taking those baby steps too.

Try Coke Zero....after a few glasses you won't be able to tell the differance.it's way better then Diet Coke...we buy the little 8 pack bottles and we don't even add ice...make sure they are really cold..You'll soon enough give up regular coke for good...as for Larry King...I'm not surprised...he's an idiot.

Good luck, baby steps are best. I lost 30lb. last year by watching portions and walking - if that helps for an idea that's relatively painless;)

Baby steps are always good! I struggle with my weight too and it's hard to change my eating habits. We eat healthy...most of the time...but it's just too many calories even if it is whole grain and the "good fat" Hey, I'm hungry! Everyday I just start fresh and try to do better. Dr Oz (my hero!) said the other day to have 200 calorie snacks. I had always heard 100 calorie, he said 200 calories of a balanced protein/carb snack (like trail mix or cheese popcorn) will satify the brain for several hours. By dinnertime my resolve has melted to a puddle! My intent is to encourage you and anyone else to love yourself and your body. There's only one of YOU!
