The good news about coffee . . .

“When I started counting my blessings, my whole life turned around.” —Willie Nelson

That was true for me as well. I started writing down about ten years ago things I was grateful for. I made and still make myself look for 5 things a day that I am grateful for. Some days are easy and some days are hard. You know what - it changed ME. My whole life turned around and I became a happier and more positive person. Like all things - it is a choice to do or not to do. One little change can make a huge difference over time.

1 cup of coffee: Lowered the risk of developing Type 2 diabetes by 7%.
2 cups per day - Lowered the risk of committing suicide by 60%.
3 cups of coffee - cut the risk of gallstones 20%.
4 cups of coffee -cut the risk of strokes by 43% and the risk of type 2 diabetes by 25%.
5 cups per day lowered the risk of Alzheimer's disease by 65%.
6 cups of coffee a day - lowered risk of advanced prostate cancer.

Side effects: headache, fatigue, and difficulty concentrating as withdrawal symptoms. Upset stomach, anxiety, jitters, and risk of miscarriages.

I wish people would make up their minds - is coffee good for us or not!?

Happy Birthday Louis Braille - from Wikipedia -

Louis Braille became blind at the age of 3, when he accidentally stabbed himself in the eye with a stitching awl, one of his father's workshop tools. Braille's other eye went blind because of sympathetic ophthalmia.

Love, Chatty

Good morning Sandie, lol...I'm glad to know coffee is good for us...oh no, or is it bad for us...well since Scientist can't make up their minds I'll just have to decide for myself...isn't that a novel idea to actually think for ourselves...
What in the world did folks actually do before the scientist decided what was good and what was bad. Or the government decided they knew best....lol...
Thanks for the information, I think I'll go get another cup of coffee...lol
I agree with you, if we stop and name just 1 or 2 things a day we have to be thankful, for our lives will chance so much.
Hope you have a Blessed day
Molly

Hey Chatty!

I count my blessings all the time! I have lots of blessings!

I don't drink coffee. I just never wanted to. I think the smell of it just smells too strong that I can't imagine that it would taste very good! lol My husband doesn't drink coffee either.

Hugs,
Angela

Hi Sandie,

You are so right if we just take time each day to think about our blessings we would probably be amazed at how many blessings we can count. As for coffee I wouldn't want to get up in the morning if I couldn't look forward to a cup to start my day. As I grow older the more I am convinced it's not what we eat or drink but like anything else in life we have to do it in moderation. It is excess that is our enemy.

Sandie...There is so much we hear that it is totally confusing about everything now-a-days. Even Presecription drugs...that are to help us can cause such adverse side effects that the cure will kill one or do more damage than the cause...so what is one to do?
I have been up almost all night...yep...drank LOTS of coffee,so funny you should have this posted today...BUT...the Caffiene kept me awake for what I needed to be awake for...and now that acid reflex is kicking in...my stomach feels like raw eggs(if one can know how raw eggs feel...don't know how I came up with that) and if I could stop running to the bathroom...well you know....
Thanks for letting me share to much info! I thinkI shall just take your wonderful advice and go count my blessings...tough day here...mind if I count you twice?

Hey Sandie -- love/agree with the serious part of your post.

The latest coffee survey was in the Health section of our newspaper a couple of weeks ago making everybody I know (us included) say "we told you so". --We here in the gray Northwest loves us our coffee!! We're all going to go with the good news about it and not pay attention when the next study comes out changing everything they say.

Now, if they just come out with a study saying chocolate and white wine are in the necessary food groups, I'll be perfectly happy ;>)

Cheers!

Hi Sandie,
I hope you had a fabulous Christmas. I love your post today and I couldn't agree with you more! Zig Ziglar said "We are a sum total of the choices we have made".

Please read our post today...it's about a Tea Party and Framing Workshop going on this weekend the 9th in Atlanta. It's free for bloggers and Karyn and I will both be going....we'd love to see you there!

Regards,
Nola

I love coffee and have for years. I've cut down on the caffeinated, as I was getting much too jittery, but still do around 3 cups a day, with two cups being decaf. And counting my blessings...it's one of my favorite pastimes.

I LOVE coffee, but it doesn't love me! I've found that I get leg cramps really badly when I drink it, and I've tested this theory several times. Sometimes, I just drink a sip or two (of my sister's cup)just so I can taste it, and I sometimes use a "coffee-like" substance... My hubby teases me about having a little coffee with my creamer, though, and I've found that I like herbal teas with creamer so that helps.

So sad that Mr. Braille had to lose his sight, but God sure used it to bless the world of the blind, didn't He.

I remember making that choice when I was in high school after reading a book that mentioned how doing or saying something nice to 25 people a day would change your life. I had been so painfully shy and withdrawn because of my weight throughout my whole life, but then I read that and MADE A CHOICE to change my way of thinking... more of others than of myself, and that lifted my spirits and, as it became a habit, it changed my whole life outlook! It DOES work, doesn't it!
