Talking back to The Voice

Okay I have a great, awesome, fabulous, interesting and healthy project for us today.

We kind of all or almost all of us agreed we had The Voice and sometimes it wasn't very nice to us. Well, it's true for me.

One of the exercises said to stop The Voice and replace it with a good Voice, a new Voice.

The only way to do that is to have words to replace it with.

So I could say in 50 words or less - or 25 words or less - but how about 15 as a starting place - we women hate to toot our our horns - it's like it is a sin of something and I don't think so - I think God wants us to like ourselves because when we do - we're better to others because we are happier - right?

So be BRAVE and share the good side of yourself - with me, with others, with the world, and with yourself - in any order.

So in 15 words - describe only the good things about yourself. You can make a copy and then tell yourself those qualities when you hear the other voice.

So I'll go first;

Christian
Thoughtful
Proactive
Thinker
Attentive

Positive
Compassionate
With Integrity
Emotional
Sensitive

Eclectic
Rebellious (I look at that as a good thing).
Romantic
Trustworthy
Unique

Okay now I want to hear yours - only the good ones - we know the bad ones already.

And happy birthday to Kate Chopin from Wikipedia - it is amazing that our past - our backgrounds have so much to do with who we are and what we do and how we live . . .

Kate Chopin (born Katherine O'Flaherty on February 8, 1851 – August 22, 1904) was an American author of short stories and novels, mostly of a Louisiana Creole background. She is now considered by some to have been a forerunner of feminist authors of the 20th century.

In 1899, her second novel, The Awakening, was published, and the book was criticized because of its moral, as well as its literary standards. Her best-known work, it is the story of a woman trapped in the confines of an oppressive society. Out of print for several decades, it is now widely available and critically acclaimed for its writing quality and importance as an early feminist work.

Good morning Sandie,

Kate Chopin was so far ahead of her time, and she was shocked at the controvery her book caused. I was fascinated with her after I read THE AWAKENING. My sister lived in that section of Louisiana for many years, so I was particularly interested in the book's setting as well as its content.

Let's see, as to qualities:

Christian
Friendly
Creative
Loyal
Loving
Supportive
Warm
Educated
Practical
Whimsical
Can rhyme anything and make the meter work! ;-)
Good Listener
Never met a stranger
Dependable
Insightful

I was thinking about something else, Sandie. When we were in elementary school we used to get a school annual that was every grade from first to twelfth at our school. I found an old annual and was reading what many of the kids said, and the words "nice" was in oft repeated phrases, and I was pleased to see that my school mates thought that. Being nice involved attribute that were considered critical in the South, and I think that "nice" too often gets a bad wrap. It's important to be nice to others... nice implies good manners and a sense that others are important to you. It's a person who plays well with others because they play by the rules that count (the Golden Rule) because you know those rules are there to assure that things are fair for all. I was also voted the wittiest girl once. LOL! I enjoy making people laugh because I think we need to laugh and enjoy life.

XO,

Sheila :-)

Oh, and that was from my elementary school annual, so those traits were from early on before the age of mask wearing. I was very much (and still am), a "what you see is what you get" kind of girl. :-)

Well, I had a list that went with the alphabet, but I must have published my comment at the same time Magpie published hers, so mine got cut off! I'm too tired to do it again, but you get the idea!
