All You Need Is Love . . .

Good song - but I think while you need love - it's not all you need.

I put my grandson to bed at night - it is my FAVORITE part of the day. We say our prayers and then I sing songs to him - we have a series of 10. Then we turn his 'sounds' on - it is the rain forest. At first he can't hear them. Then I tell him to be quiet and the sounds will get louder.

He said, "I get it - when we lay down our ear is covered and we can't hear it until the other ear adjusts." Is this smart or what?

I received this quote - "The quieter you become the more you can hear." - Baba Ram Dass

And then I received this one. "Nobody sees a flower, really--it is so small we haven't time, and to see takes time." - Georgia O'Keefe

So life takes love, silence to listen, taking time to see, and what else? Maybe these things are what love is about - or what love needs to have to take place. Thinking of love today.

Maureen O'Sullivan - Happy Birthday - wikipedia

O'Sullivan was born in Boyle, County Roscommon, Ireland, the daughter of Mary Lovatt and Charles Joseph O'Sullivan, an officer in The Connaught Rangers who served in The Great War.

She attended a convent school in Dublin, then the Convent of the Sacred Heart at Roehampton in London (now Woldingham School). One of her classmates there was Vivien Leigh. After attending finishing school in France, O'Sullivan returned to Dublin and began working with the poor.

She met a producer and the rest was history.

She was Mia Farrows mother - I didn't know that...

That grandson is a smart boy! I love this post. It is so personal and yet so fun and your bios are fun too. I loved Maureen O'Hara. She was so gorgeous and my favorite movies with her, oh...the list is long but "The Quiet Man " and "McClintock". Happy Mopnday! Anne

Putting grandchildren to bed is indeed a labor of love ... my grandson used to insist on my very special version of 'Jack And The Beanstalk' .... he is 13 now and we still talk about it.

Hi Sandie...You are surely chalking up many good memories for GS. He will always remember his Grammie praying with him and singing with him before bed. That is awesome. And I agree with you....love is important...we all need it...but it's not ALL we need. Love needs support. Thanks for the post. Sincerely, Susan

another good insightful post, Sandie. your GS is so cute; loved his ear analogy. I think he is on to something with it. I like what you think life needs, a little love, a little silence, a little time to look and see; I think it also needs trust and hope. Trust in God and his way and timing and hope that this world is not all there is.

I love your tradition too with putting GS to bed. I hope he continues to want to do something like this for a few more years; I'm sure it is precious time for both of you

What a smart boy he is to figure that out! Traditions with kids are so important and I hope to have many with my grandson.

I always liked Maureen O'Sullivan's performances but can't say that about Mia Farrow's.

Those romantic songs are great to listen to and, of course, certain ones will always bring back memories. But I agree that life teaches us that more than love is needed! Still it sure doesn't hurt to have it -- and you can't haveb -- or give -- too much of it either!

Very nice! And your grandson is right, when we finally settle down, you can hear everything better!

I'm having the same problem with some of my followers. I love having new ones, but if they have a blog, it's not showing up in their info. I think most of them need to leave a comment so I can find their blog as well! Let me know what you learn!
