"Life is lived forward, but understood backward. It is not until we are down the road and we stand on the mountain looking back through the valley that we can appreciate the terrain God has allowed us to scale.” Jill Savage

Saturday Meditations

I have to admit I'm running late so this is just something I challenge us all to do.

"Smile at each other, smile at your wife, smile at your husband, smile at your children, smile at each other - it doesn't matter who it is - and that will help you to grow up in greater love for each other.”

—Mother Teresa

Happy Birthday (Wikipedia)
Mary Stevenson Cassatt was an American painter and printmaker. She lived much of her adult life in France, where she first befriended Edgar Degas and later exhibited among the Impressionists.

Cassatt often created images of the social and private lives of women, with particular emphasis on the intimate bonds between mothers and children.

I love Mother Theresa! She had a lot of wisdom and when she died and they started snooping around her diary I was apalled! She was a human not God!

Cassett was one of the lovliest painters! I adore her work!

Sandie. you always share something to,well, make me smile! :)

I'm always in awe of how you post EVERY.SINGLE.DAY!!! You definitely don't need to apologize for a shorter post. I have always loved Mary Cassett. I remember cutting a page with one of her pictures out of a Childcraft book my kids had outgrown and framing it for the bathroom wall.

I love Mary Cassatt. She is one of my favorite artists.

Thanks for this. I'm tired, and when I get tired, I don't smile as much. I will put on a happy face RIGHT NOW!

XO,

Sheila :-)

I love to smile! It makes me feel better. Today it's easy, having lunch with my girls and celebrating Ashleigh's birthday!

A smile is easy to give, doesn't cost much, but gives back as a treasure. Have a good day.

Hi Sandie! I have always loved Mary Cassatt's paintings...so real, simple, and lovely.

I really do try to smile a lot, Sandie. Why not? Whenever I see someone I love with a frown, I usually said, lovingly, "Turn that frown, upsidedown." It usually does the trick. Sincerely, Susan

I have to admit the first thing I notice about a person is their smile or lack there of. I am drawn to someone who is not afraid to smile at a stranger. It takes so few muscles to smile and show people you are happy to see them.
I love Mother Theresa, she was a light to the world.
Hope your day is filled with smiles.

I have a wonderful documentary that I bought many years ago about Mother Theresa's life. Truly a woman of great inspiration.

And yes, a smile takes only a second and can last forever.

Smiling was what changed my life. I was always a chunky kid AND I was the only Mexican kid in this town during my childhood, so I was called all sorts of names... even the bad 'N" word that blacks used to be called because my skin was so dark. I did have some friends, but I tended to be very introverted.

I read a book when I was about 15 or 16 that had one suggestion that you make a pact with yourself to smile at 25 people a day. You didn't have to talk to them... just smile at them as you made eye contact. I decided to try it and I found out that people almost always smiled back! It changed my life because I never expected that. It changed my whole attitude toward others and toward life! Linda
