So just how hot is it?

Do you think there is global warming going on?

And if so - maybe this is the reason?

No matter if there is or not - you can CHOSE to put a positive spin on things!
So what do you think - global warming or not - even though it is this hot this summer - I just don't think so.

Happy birthday Martina McBride - birthday

McBride was born Martina Mariea Schiff in Sharon, Kansas to Daryl and Jeanne July 29 1966. She has two brothers, Martin and Steve, who currently plays in her concert band, and a sister, Gina.

She was raised in Sharon, Kansas, a small town with population of about 200. Her father, who was a farmer and cabinetry shop owner, exposed McBride to country music at a young age. Listening to country music helped her acquire a love for singing. After school, she would spend hours singing along to the records of such popular artists as Pat Benatar, Linda Ronstadt and Bonnie Raitt.

Around the age of 8 or 9, McBride began singing with a band her father fronted, "The Schiffters." As Schiff grew older her role in the band progressively increased, from simply singing, to also playing keyboard with them.

At the end of high school, Schiff was offered a scholarship to a local college, but she only attended it for one semester. She realized her passions lay in music. In 1987, Schiff arranged a group of musicians and started to look for rehearsal space. She began renting space by studio engineer John McBride, whom Schiff met and became engaged to four months later.

After marrying McBride, the two moved to Nashville, Tennessee, in 1989 in the hope of beginning a career in country music. John McBride joined the sound crew of Garth Brooks and later become his concert production manager. Martina occasionally joined her husband on the road and helped sell Garth Brooks souvenirs.

Brooks, who was impressed by McBride's enthusiastic spirit, offered her the position of his opening act on his 1992 tour, though only if she could obtain a recording contract.

During this time, while her husband was working with country artists Charlie Daniels and Ricky Van Shelton, he also helped produce her a demo tape, which helped her gain a recording contract with RCA Nashville Records, in 1991.

loved all the cartoons, Sandie. I don't think so about global warming, but what do I know, LOL. I think we have cyclical times with hotter than average, colder than average, more rain, less rain, etc (you get the picture). I bet if we were to have records from the very beginning of God's creation of this earth to now with patterns of hot/cold etc we would find that indeed there are periods of warming, cooling, etc and we might be in a warmer than normal pattern these days. Funny while the rest of the country has had a hot summer, we in Southern California (so far) have had a mild one. Heard on the news yesterday that there were 27 days so far this summer that had temps cooler than average so what does that say? global cooling starting?

I trust God knows what he's doing with hot/cold, rain/snow, etc!

(I can't believe your daughter is back at school already and school is around the corner for you guys, it starts early there??)

Hi,Sandie.
I don't know about all the global warming stuff. I do think that the earth goes through its own cycles, but I don't believe that we are the cause of anything.
God made this earth and certainly He can keep it all under control!!

Oh, those cartoons are so funny!

I don't believe in global warming. Just the earth goes through periods of time when it's hotter, colder, dryer, wetter etc than usual. And humans aren't to blame if it is getting hotter, colder, dryer, wetter etc than it normally is. My dad said, "It's pretty selfish to think that we can destroy God's earth."

No, I don't think there is global warming going on. Many of the leading scientists in the world contend that what is happening is simply climate change, and if there was global warming, then why did Florida have record freezes last year??? Makes no sense. It would be hot all year long. Also, the Southern polar ice cap is expanding, so if global warming were taking place, wouldn't that be melting???

XO,

Sheila :-)

Love the cartoon with the two ears of corn - one being popped corn:-)
As far as global warming, uh what caused the first that thaw from the Ice Age - humans, cars, industry? I don't think so!
It is so hot here in Georgia, I am refusing to strap on my upper trunk tourniquet under my t-shirt.

oops! The above comment was me, Lucy. I forgot to sign out from the other blog...which I had to do separately...could not figure out how to put up a second blog on my account without losing my original blog.

I always laugh when I see the popcorn cartoon. I love hot summer days even if the heat index soars over 105 like this past week on the island:-) I just make sure I have a pool or an ocean or a cold shower:-) See you next week at the brunch at C's.

Great, I love it!!! It's hotter than blue blazes here. Last I looked it was 96 and 100% humidity here in the holler. Good thing we harvested the corn....it just might have popped! Heeehehehe!

God bless and have a terrific Thursday my friend!

Global warming? Well, I personally just think it's a ploy for Al Gore and the like...making money on those who believe...he's raking in millions on things that people are buying thinking it's 'global'. Thing is, if anyone with a lick of smarts should check out history's weather patterns...they'd find out that it's just repeating itself....running in cycles.

LOVE the popcorn joke tho, that is a HOOT
