HAPPY LABOR DAY

Labor Day - The official end of summer.

The form for the celebration of Labor Day was outlined in the first proposal of the holiday: A street parade to exhibit to the public "the strength and esprit de corps of the trade and labor organizations," followed by a festival for the workers and their families. (wikipedia)

Forms of celebration include picnics, barbecues, fireworks displays, water sports, and public art events. Families with school-age children take it as the last chance to travel before the end of summer recess. Similarly, some teenagers and young adults view it as the last weekend for parties before returning to school, although school starting times now vary. (wikipedia)

In U.S. sports, Labor Day marks the beginning of the NFL and college football seasons. NCAA teams usually play their first games the week before Labor Day, with the NFL traditionally playing their first game the Thursday following Labor Day. (wikipedai)

It's a day off work to stay home and rest. Of course I am not doing that. I'm cleaning house and on top of that I'm making my family do it with me. Chatty can be mean sometimes, but everyone dirties it - everyone cleans it. The cleaner my house is the better I feel the dirtier my house is the worse I feel. I am probably OCD.

And oh my goodness. I have people who want to save everything,. I have stuff everywhere. I have stuff on my cabinets because there is not a place to put it in the cabinets. I have never considered myself or my family a hoarders, but I'm a little worried. (Just kidding - it's not that bad, but... sort of)

Another problem I have is that I always have to have two of something. You would think I was from the depression era, but I'm not. My parents were, but they didn't talk about it a lot and my dad had a great job. Maybe it's because of the economy and worrying about jobs.

"I discovered I always have choices and sometimes it's only a choice of attitude." -Judith M. Knowltan

Work Hard--Do your best--Keep your word--Never get too big for your britches--Trust in God--Have no fear--and Never forget a friend. - Harry S. Truman

Well, enough for today - I have to get to work! Have a great Labor day - tell me what YOU did!

Sounds like you're going to put the 'labor' in Labor Day ;) I'm doing just the opposite - hanging out with hubby, making baked beans, ham and scalloped potatoes for supper with youngest daughter and son-in-law. Enjoy.

In contrast to you ... we are having quite the lazy Labor Day!

I do wish our smallish city had a parade ~ I miss them!

This is the day to relax, not labor. Enjoy your day whatever you do.

I'm working today :)

LOL with everyone in your house involved with cleaning, but that is how it should be I do believe!! Maybe you have two of everything in case you misplace one of them? I do hope you take a minute or two to rest on this Labor Day

Well I guess it is a good day to labor in cleaning the house. I also feel so much better when my house is neat and clean. Amazing how much paper there is lying around that needs to be saved for one reason or another. I like to clean at night when I can't sleep but don't clean the floors at night as my neighbors below would go nuts:-)

It was pretty much "veg" city here today. No bonfires yet, darn it!

Oh Sandie, you are a riot. I feel the same way, though. When the house is messy, I'm wretched. When it's clean and in order, I feel good.

I cleaned today, too, washed clothes, blah blah blah Not too exciting of a Labor Day. ha ha ha

Take care. Susan

Hi Sandie, I'm with you, everyone dirtied it, everyone cleans..of course now its just the hubs and me and the dogs; unfortunately, the dogs aren't real good at cleaning!
We probably have 3 of everything, as soon as it cools down and I can get in that garage without passing out, I am hauling stuff out and throwing, giving, whatever away...Be gone! Tired of STUFF..and I can never fine what I am looking for either! BAH!

Hope you had a good day inspite of cleaning!

What a great post!! I'm doing the heavy cleaning all month, not just for the day. That should tell you just how badly it needs to be cleaned OUT. I'm so much like you in the "if one is good, two is better" thing.

Yeeesh.

Love your quotes today very much!!
