Red Belt

Thank you smarties out there - it is indeed a Luna Moth. How did you know that? And in some places it is an endangered species!

JUNE 2011 BLACK BELT 1 (maybe September, but it will be this year!) And we are going to have a party!

He will have been in the program for about five years at this point. Didn't he do great - even if I am a little Prejudice!

At the ceremony they take the old belt off in the back - facing the rear of the Dojo.

They put the new one on in the front.

He is congratulated.

They bow and say to each other Philsung - "Do you best and never give up."

Congrats on the new belt. Congrats for sticking with a sport for so many years as most kids would have given up by now.

it must be neat to see the end in sight with GS' belts! literally it will be here before you know it! and good for him for his persistence in staying with it (and all of yours too because it is indeed a family activity in getting them there, participating in ceremonies when they get tested, etc)

those luna moths are just gorgeous when you see them out and about; huge too!

loved all the pictures of GS's shining moment!

I wonder who's going to be grandma's protector if someone tries to give her any trouble?

Sandie,
I know how much work is involved as my grandson was involved when he was 4 and I got to watch him at one of his practices. He did lose interest, though and he is now 11 and into soccer! Congratulations to your grandson for earning another belt and for staying with the sport for so long!

Grinning at the Old Geezer's comment! You have every right to be proud! Quite the accomplished young fellow!!

And I love what they say to each other at the end. What is the pronunciation of it? Can you sort of "sound spell" it out? I would like to be able to say it.

And mean it.

Congratulations to your grandson. Looks like he's doing well. I'm still wondering what the correct answer was and if you yourself are a blackbelt?

I loved looking at the photos - it was like being there. I don't like not being able to post more photos. I used to post lots of them, but alas, no more - for now!

Hope you're doing well, my friend, and we'll catch up soon.

Love,
Doris and Gizzy :-)
