Hump Day! Eat, Pray, Love

This will drive you crazy! Keep at it 'cause it is possible.. This is one way to keep your mind sharp! Here is a little 'test' that is (supposedly) part of a second grade Computer class in China . Some figure it out right away. Others report having to work on it for a week (or more) to solve it. Have fun and don't forget to forward to your kids/grandchildren.

Now Chatty got halfway through, but her friend Angela came to the rescue! Angela's answer below. Try to work at it awhile though it is fun.

Okay - what am I thinking about today? Hmmm - went to see Eat, Love, and Pray. I had read the book, liked it. Went to the movie - was so so. Went home and reread the book and yes a friend asked me to go see it again, I did, and you know what? I got it! Now I have to put first a disclaimer. I do not like the fact she is not a main stream Christian. I don't really like it when they say the power within you - meaning God. Or sometimes people say you are God - God is within you.

Well, God is within me, but I am not God.

However, I am the type person who can read or hear or see something - discern what is right and wrong - drop the wrong (for me I am not judging others) and keep what is right (again for me not others).

Using that disclaimer - I did learn a couple of good and positive ideas that go along with my beliefs.

One thing I heard them say in movie which I thought was PROFOUND - " You can select your mood or what you are thinking just as you select your clothes. " Isn't that the truth?

"If you want to get a castle, swim the moat."

"Stop wanting to win the lottery, buy the ticket!"

That some times we have to learn the "art of doing nothing." I think that is true in our society. So many people rush (myself included), but we don't practice the art of doing nothing. And it is my belief that is important to once in awhile to clean up our junky old minds. There is a sweetness in doing nothing. Or there should be.

"Don't stay stuck where you are from fear of change." Guilty of that one too and for me that is one of the harder things to learn.

When you think - meditate - or just pass a person "SMILE the biggest smile and smile all the way down to your liver." Now I have tried it and need to do it more - it feels funny - but good.

"If you clear out your obsession (what is in your brain) the doorway to your brain will open and life will rush in."

"Forgive yourself."

"Ruin is the road to transformation." "Some times you have to leave everything behind."

Sometimes your afraid to love again because you feel you will lose yourself, the progress you have made. "If you lose balance in love is to gain balance in life. Which you have to have first. To learn to really love correctly." True love is loving the other and loving yourself simultaneously.

Now know too - I am not necessarily talking about 'guru' kinds of things on my blog although it will seem like it at times. There are two sides to Chatty - but all combined is with God. I have mentioned this before and the only reason I mention it every once in awhile is that it is important to me for you to understand where I am coming from. I am a survivor of child abuse. I am a survivor for many reasons - mainly the Lord, but also for these kind of 'guru' and 'positive think' statements, laughter, good faithful friends, and of course for therapy. Just want you to know where my heart is. I needed the combination of all these things to change and become who I am today. And let me be the first to say - I am not without issues or scars.
My thought is 'God made everything" -

I think along the same lines as you do, and had the same thoughts when I read the book. The movie received such so so reviews I didn't see it yet; will rent it eventually. I am a mainstream Christian too, and always enjoy reading your posts.

Hey Sandie!

It was fun trying to figure out the frog puzzle! I'm sure there are other ways to do it but that was the way that I did it. One of the main things is to keep it boy girl, boy girl, boy girl. If you have two boys beside of each other once you start it just won't work.

Have a Great Day!
Angela

I didn't time myself and I lost track of how many resets I had, but I'm guessing I got it in about 10 minutes.

I love brain teasers!

I do believe if we tell ourselves something long enough, it will change our thinking. Did I mention the book "Feeling Good"? We can kind of re-wire our brain. I am so sorry to hear about your past. Some people never get past it and use it as a crutch and excuse for everything. But you are one of the ones who have made up your mind to live life to the fullest and not let it hold you back. Why let it ruin the rest of our life? You are a strong and positive lady!

Yesterday when I did the frog test I couldn't get them to jump and today I actually had to click them twice to get those little stinkers to move. I guess that was my problem. LOL

I've been soooo curious re. Eat, Pray, Love!
Normally, I prefer reading the book; invariably, I wind up disappointed by movies' versions. At any rate, I'll be sure to keep your wise council!

Isn't it crazy, with all the differences in Bloggieville, how many folks, deep down, feel the same way about the important stuff?!

Sandie, I tried with the frogs and almost went nuts! LOL!

I generally feel that Holywood never represents my feelings as a Christian or as an American, so I usually don't put too much stock in movies. I take them with a grain of salt.

I haven't seen this one so I can't comment. I just usually go to the movies to be entertained, but I actually prefer classic movies to what passes today for being a "good" movie. ;-)

XO,

Sheila :-)

glad you gave the instructions for the frog thingy, Sandie; thanking Angela for getting through it and letting you know. I tried a few times and always ended up with a traffic jam, LOL! Maybe it was too late in the day to attempt it :)

I'm not real familiar with Eat, Love, and Pray other than it was a movie Julia Roberts starred in; I didn't even realize it was based on a book. I think we always need to remember who we are in God's eyes, despite the circumstances we might have found ourselves in or are in and to always remember he is for us, not against us. In saying that, I think it is perfectly okay to give ourselves "pep talks" to help us through tough times we are dealing with or have dealt with. Does this make sense? my mind is mush, worked over time tonight and operating on half a mind, LOL

Thanks ALOT! I am worn out from trying to figure out that frog thing!!! Even WITH your help at the end :{

Interesting and profound comments on Eat, Pray, Love.

I say loving yourself is first, because not to, is insulting God. The more love we feel from the inside out, the more we can give love to others.

Sandie - I have been wandering around BlogLand, and I found you! I'm so glad I did! I've had a great time reading your posts, and getting to know you a little better! It's great to meet another "over 50" blogger...YIKES, how did we get that old?

Loved the quotes, and your thoughts on them. Really special.

I would love if you came over and visited my "porch" (that's how I like to look at my blog :)

(By the way, I only post once a week on Sundays on one blog - but I post every day on the other one...)

GOD BLESS!

Don't know if my method was the same as the one given, but I solved the puzzle in 10 - 15 seconds!!! I'm a visual learner so things like that are easy for me. Thanks for sharing yourself and your faith. You're a remarkable person. I love your blog and your very worthwhile thoughts.

I love that you said "However, I am the type person who can read or hear or see something - discern what is right and wrong - drop the wrong (for me I am not judging others) and keep what is right (again for me not others)." If everyone felt this way and didn't judge others...wow! What an easier time we would all have here on earth!

Now as for that test...it made me feel jumpy and like I could just croak! ;-p
