Saturday Meditations - something to think about . . .

Just a reminder - I'm running a giveaway - see November 3rd's blog. And I have to remind you - you must be a follower of my blog to enter (and it's never too late - lol).

Thanks and good luck to everyone. It is a $55.00 gift certificate to CSN!

I have been running around this morning - I'm not all sure what is going on in my head. I guess their are a few things rattling up there today - my husband found out that his contract job that was to end in May will be ending the end of this month. A little blow.

I'm waiting for the birth of my new grandson due November 4th. Today would be a good day for him to be born - as it is hubby's birthday. November 10th would be good too - as it was my mom's birthday.

The grandson, daughter, and hubby all have this habit of interrupting me every two minutes. That drives me nuts - but I love them. They've gone out now for a half hour and I finally feel I can think. Focus a little!

Also the grandson started medicine to help him focus today - not sure we're going to keep him on it - but we're trying it and for some reason - that makes me sad.

I have also had scheduled a complete knee replacement for 12-20. A big deal.

Any prayers this way would be greatly appreciated. I can see now why I'm feeling a little scattered and anxious. So after I write this blog - I'm going to take a break and go out and be in the sunshine (although it's cold) - for a little while doing some errands alone. I'll have to do one thing that is fun for 'me'. Then tonight is dinner out for hubby's birthday.

I'm just going to go out and sit on my problems for a little while. (They will still be there when I get back and Lord knows I am not the only one with problems today. I pray for others too.)

Thinking some good thoughts like these:

Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.
- Ralph Waldo Emerson

To hold, you must first open your hand. Let go.
- Tao Te Ching (My favorite and it is so true at least in my life).

The best way to forget your troubles is to wear tight shoes.
- Trish. (How true is that one?)

AND REMEMBER THE TIME CHANGE IS TONIGHT!

Okay - hope you'll join me and take some time to breathe and live today. Don't waste the whole day worrying.

Sandie

O.K. you know about my knee, don't you?? I've posted about it and talked about it lots, but maybe that was before I met you. I have no cartilage left and it is bone on bone. I have a handicapped liscense and that swell new cane (duh). It gave out a while back (knee, not the cane) and I could not get out of the bathroom, etc. But I have been holding the surgery off with amazing results with the set of three Synvisc or Hyalin shots every six months now. But for you to be at this stage, you have probably already tried them, most people do before surgery. I had no idea about your knee!! No more details here, e-mail me if you want to talk. But you KONW I will be praying and very interested. I AM the prayer line lady of the church!

Hi there Sandie...good heavens you'll soon be a granny again!
Good luck, how exciting!
My knees have both been bone on bone now for four years. I just grin and bear it, as I don't want to have surgery until they snap off! Not the smartest move, but what I'm doing. Frankly, we just can't afford it, even with insurance, they just don't pay enough of it.
Good luck, you brave soul.

I hope you take your advice today and don't spend too much time worrying, although some worries are valid. Hope the new grandson arrives soon - I have granddaughters birthdays in November - on the 8th 13th and 27th. Way too close to Christmas! Are you just having one knee done? My sister had both done at the same time - a hard couple of months but she's going strong now and doesn't regret it at all. Take care. Enjoy hubby's birthday. And please include me in your giveaway. Thanks.

You do have a lot on your mind right now. I hope sharing with us eases thing a bit. We're all here for you and will pray for a safe delivery of the new grandbaby, new business opportunities for your husband, good results without side effects for your grandson, and for good results for your surgery.

Hubby and I know quite a few who have had knee and/or hip replacements and no one that we personally know has regretted it.

I hope you enjoyed soaking up the sunshine. When Mother Nature has it in short supply, just go look in the mirror. I think of you as sunshine.

I do hope you took some time for you today! I did and I feel pretty good now. Tell your Hubby Happy Birthday for me. You know I have been praying about the knee surgery and now GS and his meds are in my prayers also. hugs, Linda

Oh man, so sorry about the job thing. That is more than a little blow - will be praying.

C'mon, grandson - what's the delay? We're ALL waiting on you - ALL of us other blog grandmas!

Happy Birthday to the husband - if you're Chatty, does he have a nickname?

Oooo...the interrupting thing I TOTALLY get! I do a lot of my blogging "stuff" on my laptop, sitting on the couch next to my husband. I thought maybe that would make him feel like I was still "with" him - not ignoring him. BUT...he takes it as an opportunity to "yak" about all kinds of stuff! Hmmm...maybe back to the "computer room" for me.

Understand about the medicine thing -

Sit on those problems - that's a good place for them!

I HATE THE TIME CHANGE - where's my hibernation den????

OK - that's all the thinking I'm capable of on a Saturday...

keeping you in my prayers, Sandie!! so sorry to hear about your husband his job contract! I'm sure that was not good news to hear especially with the holidays coming up. Happy birthday to him by the way; I hope he has a good time celebrating it anyway! Remember, God knew this was going to happen (job) and is in control and his word says he will meet our needs (of course our needs could be totally different than what God thinks are needs should be, but he will provide)

It is okay about your grandson and the medicine. For some kids, they actually don't mind taking the medicine because it does help them to focus and helps to build up self esteem, especially if they struggle in school, etc. My son was on something for a few years but by the time he got into middle school and high school, he was able to focus much better and didn't need to be on anything any more. So give it a try and objectively decide what is best for your GS.

hoping you did do something fun just for you today! let us know what it was!

Oh my gosh, Sandie. I don't know where to begin, but do want to reassure you of my prayers.
So glad to hear you stopped to do something good, however brief, for yourself.
Wishing you all a great dinner ... and sweet dreams!

Sandie, I'm here to tell you, you will not regret the surgery. I tried the shots with my first knee, but had such bad reaction to the meds in them, that I could only take 1. I have had both knees done and even though I do have some pain and stiffness at times it is nothing compared to the bone on bone pain I had before.
I was totally blessed because at the time I had them done my insurence paid 100%.
I need a hip replacement but after the staph I'm scared to have it done, only because of the chance of taking staph again.
Marissa is on a new med that helps her focus more but the Dr thinks she may be able to take her off of it in a year or so. Soccer and the violin has really helped her learn to focus more.
Tell DH I said Happy Birthday and be sure and let us know when that special new Grand arrives.

Hey Sandie!

Hope you have a great time out for dinner with your husband tonight! I'm sure that grand baby will come when he's ready. He's just not ready yet! hehehe I didn't know you are going to have surgery on your knee! Our Pastor's wife just had it done last month and is doing fine now. She had to walk with a cane for a little while at first but now she doesn't need it.

Have a Great Weekend!
Angela

Hi Sandie!!!! Ohhhhh, knee surgery? That is not a good Christmas present. Or, maybe it is.

Dear one you have a lot on your plate, no wonder you are running around. You have some good mixed with the bad....but God will get you through each and everyone. Happy Belated to your husband on his birthday. Love the pictures. Blessings.

I pray that the knee surgery goes well, Sanie. Jeanne (Backyard Neighbor) had it done, and she said the ticket is to exercise it and keep at it, even if it hurts to do it. She did something like hiked in some sort of olympic thing AFTER her surgery. So you can do this! :-)

Hope you DH's birthday was a happy one!

Can't wait for that baby!

XO,

Sheila :-)
