Saturday Meditations - or things to think about.

Thank you Jerry.

Laying down your arms, surrendering, saying you are sorry, realizing that you have been on the wrong track and getting ready to start life over again from the ground floor - that is the only way out of a hole. - C.S. Lewis

“We plant seeds that will flower as results in our lives, so best to remove the weeds of anger, avarice, envy and doubt, that peace and abundance may manifest for all.” —Dorothy Day

Today is/was my brothers birthday - he would've been 65. He died at 51 - I can't believe it - 14 years.

Funny thing is the twins (my niece and nephew and God Children) were born a year ago today. And my GS who was named after my brother - was born the day after he died - five years later.

Sorry to touch a sad subject, but that is what I think of on 12/11. I'm glad he's not suffering anymore. I believe he's in Heaven. And he doesn't have to go through all the hassles of life anymore. I didn't feel that then though. You know in the Bible they talk about wailers - I thought HE meant criers - but no, wailing is a completely different thing, I wailed when he died - I lost a piece of me.

He had had such a hard life, since the very beginning and it never got easier for him - his life was always a struggle. Even though he was 8 years older then me, I was always his protector. He wasn't slow or anything, he was, well, he was just a different sort of fellow. He is as mellow as I was strung out (years ago) - I told you I was a work in progress - Thank you God!

MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM THE ATLANTA BLOGGERS!

Hi Sandie...Loved today's post, as always. Yes, I, too, believe your brother is in a peaceful, light-filled, beautiful place. When we weep for those who go ahead of us, we are really weeping for our own sorrow. The other realm of life, I believe, is so wonderful that once we go there, we wouldn't want to return to earth.

The photos of the bloggers was best of all. LOVED seeing all you little sweeties. Thanks so much for sharing. Susan

When my Grandmother died, I was not the same person anymore. My life changed forever and I was only 10 - I know what it's like, but I am forever thankful to have had her in my life! She left an impression on me that can not be erased! She was a jewel of a human being!

I love those photos of you gals. That's wonderful to get together like that!

I am sorry to hear about your brother, it seems like he was a special and gentle hearted person, like Jesus was and wanted us to be. I can guess how you feel, my mom died at Christmas just a few years ago. Much as you and I both try to be very upbeat, some things just come in your mind at certain times, it is what it is.

I'm sorry that today brings such sad memories for you. I do hope that when you think of your brother on this day that you remember the good things and know that he is no longer suffering. Today is my Granny's birthday.

Loved the picture of the Georgia bloggers! Such a beautiful big tree too!

Hugs,
Angela

Nice photos of you girls. Sorry about your brother. Holidays seem to bring out the 'remember whens' in our lives, don't they? Hugs to you, Sandie!

Sandie,
Love the snowman cartoon. I had to think about it for a minute.
Love the pic of y'all. How nice.
I'm so sorry about your brother. I lost my Grandma on 12/5 in '06. I was numb and looked about in disbelief as Christmas came on. I thought "don't you know I just lost the dearest person to me?" I did my share of wailing when I was single and times I was alone and disraught. I read once that God collects our tears. Isn't that lovely? Hoosier hugs to you, Cheryl

We never stop missing a loved one who has gone. I can understand your wailing..."Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted." We hurt for those who have gone, yet they are in perfect peace.Nine years...I bet it seems as yesterday, time surely does fly. You photos are beautiful.

loved the pictures of all you Atlanta bloggers! all beautiful women!!

I am so sorry about your brother; I don't believe it was a coincidence the twins were born on the anniversary of his death or your GS being born when he was born. God's hand is definitely in it in maybe a bit of a healing for you, although I am sure it was sooooo very hard to lose your brother at such a "young age".

Happy birthday to the twins!!! I can't believe it has been a year!

loved all the cartoons and especially loved the C.S. Lewis quote!

Sandie - I have just been catching up with you. (Had to run fast, too...)

Yesterday's post was a real hoot. I don't know how you manage to gather together so much hilarity in one place - but I'm sure glad you do. It's good to have a "Chatty Smile" every day!

As for today, I'm so sorry about your brother. I get the wailing - it IS different than crying. I'll anxiously await meeting him in Heaven someday, though. I'll tell him how fond I am of his sister...

GOD BLESS!

(p.s. The cartoon with the snowman cracked me up. Who knew there was such a thing as false lump-of-coal teeth??)

I hope they all had very happy birthdays, and your reflections on your brother are perfect (as in of our Heavenly Father).

What a great post...friends, family and animals all in one. I too lost a brother - he was 39 when a mine ceiling came down on him. It's a hard thing, but I like thinking about him and seeing pictures. It'll be 20 years this spring. Doesn't seem possible.

Loved the animals singing. Will show it to my little granddaughter when I see her tomorrow.
