HAPPY ST. PAT'S DAY TO YOU!
Your probably tired of my grandson's road to black belt - but we have gone through 18 belts now over three years and now he has three months of practice before he can take his black belt in June. And can I tell you we are excited! ALL OF US!
His last testing was for his brown belt senior!
Okay - he tested for his brown belt senior and passed. This was his awards ceremony.
They face the back of the Dojo and take off their old belt - the brown one.
They turn around and the brown belt with the black stripe is put on - the brown belt senior. And then all the higher belts - master level or higher - shake his hand.
Once you make a certain belt - you will always have it - no take backs! They get a certificate.
HERE IS MY LITTLE BROWN SENIOR BELT!
Only one thing has to change for us to know happiness in our lives: where we focus our attention.

PS I want to thank everyone for their comments yesterday - I have read them all, but I haven't had time to respond yet - I will!
You guys are great!

Your grandson's smile is really awesome! He looks so proud, and I know that you were one proud Grandma! Begorrah and bejaibers, and a Happy St Patricks Day to you as well Chatty!
Congratulations to your grandson. I have a friend who now has 3rd degree black belt (I think). It is a big commitment. He deserves to be proud and have his nanna brag. Well done.
Of course my favorite is the wonderful last picture, what a stunning smile, the pure joy of a child!! That one needs put in a frame on the end table!
You have one proud grandson. He is beaming!
I never swam with dolphins.
congratulations...he sure is proud of himself and rightfully so. And don't feel bad about bragging about your GS, who wouldn't...your a terrific grandma and I am sure he knows that.
No. Never tired of hearing about a fine young man's successes! Congrats! Ann. P.S. I need to go read yesterday's post, I missed it.
Awwwww, Sandie, that's awesome for Andy. God bless that boy! I think it's wonderful! He must be really, really good. You should be a proud Mama. Susan

My grandson is just starting on his black belt journey. He has only gone through the first three, but I am amazed at how disciplined he has become. It is an excellent thing for kids to get involved in. Congratulations to you grandson.
Congratulations! I think it's so cool how you all support Andy ... I hope the other boys are as lucky to have their families' support.
Hurray for Andy and good wishes for the next round in June...and a very happy St. Patrick's Day.

he is sooo close!! Certainly a long road you guys have traveled to get there and the end is in sight! WTG to GS for his persistence and your/family's dedication for him to achieve this goal! Will he continue on afterwards?

OH Sandi, he is so cute ypu just want to grab him and kiss him all over his little face. One day this may stand into him for protection.
Happy St Pat's day!!!
Up the Irish! xx
GS is too, too cute - however, I would not want to meet him in a dark alley. I think he'd easily take this old COLEN down!

The only martial arts lesson, which were unofficial, I have ever taken were from a brown belt in karate. The lesson was on how to fall without breaking something.
Well, I suppose it was a good one. For after an hour or so of him throwing me all over the place, I hadn't broken any bones, but I still think he got more out of it than I did. For there I was moaning and groaning while he stood there with a huge smile on his face.
Congrats to your GS! He is working so hard! I'm so happy for him. :)
Oh how cute! Reminds me of when my grandson got his first white belt last year...so fun!
