Wednesday's Hump Day

"You can hit me and I won't think much of it, but you can say something and hurt me very much." ~ Floyd Patterson Called a "good guy in the bad world of boxing" by the New York Times, heavyweight champion Floyd Patterson (1935-2006) was born in Waco, North Carolina. The third of 11 children, he took up boxing at the age 14."It's easy to do anything in victory. It's in defeat that a man reveals himself," he once said.

"Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless. -Mother Teresa"

This is what I try to live and how I try to teach - but I have to admit it is hard and sometimes I fail.

and harsh words are just as easy to say, even easier, and they echo forever, so we need to pay heed to Mother teresa and try, try try to say kind words.

Amen, blog sister. I try, succeed and sometimes fail and try again. Your quotes are beautiful.

Yes. The saying about sticks and stones is not true, is it?

I missed the video the first time around. A beautiful message.

When I saw that video the first time on facebook, I cried - it's so touching!

I agree, Sandie, I try and often fail and it makes me wonder why we have to work so hard on being good - being good and decent and kind spirited seems to take a lot more work, a conscious choosing to do what is right... but if we keep working on it, we'll succeed and even if we fail now and again, it's better to be nice most of the time than none of the time ;-)

I got the car :-)

Wow...it's all in how we look at things isn't it! I loved the video! I always try to be kind, it means so much in such harsh times. I am human so I fail....but I try! hugs, Linda

This is worth posting more than once. She did something better than give money. She found a way for others to give more. Something we should keep in mind.

It is the trying that matters, not the failures.

Hi Sandie -

I saw this a few weeks ago, and it's powerful! Thanks for spreading a truth that will impact people's lives.

Blessings,
Susan :)

I watched it twice because the final message cut off on my screen so I maximized it. I think this was a wonderful message.

And I think there is a great deal of power in the word.

but at least you keep trying to speak kind words, Sandie. We will all fail at times but consistency with making the effort does help over time as I am sure you are aware of. At church the other day the pastor was speaking about doing a half second pause before you say something or give a look; I like that. Makes us think before we speak or give a disdainful look (I'm guilty of that a lot)

Very touching clip. Hurtful words will stay with us forever. We think we can forget them but when we are not looking they come creeping out of our memories and hurt us again. We all need to practice saying kind words. Thank you for the reminder.
