Thursday - Grandchildren

I have two wonderful grandsons (well actually 4 if you count Disco the dog and Toby the cat).

We went to Ohio and visited one grandson with the other grandson - and that is one reason I got all off track with my blogging. lol

There are ten years difference between them.

My eldest grandson and eldest child 'played' all weekend on the WI. Which was really nice of my son because he really gave of his time. GS LOVED IT!!!

My two wonderful grandchildren - Chatty is very lucky!

Excuse the no make-up but we just got there from being in the car 8 hours!
My dear DIL and baby - she is so tired because dear little grandson is a stinker - he doesn't sleep very much!
We went to the park to try to wear him out - we got worn out - lol - it was in the high 90"s.

His first swing ride.
The two grandsons really fell in love with one another.

Son and grandson at the zoo. In the 90's - I stayed home to try to help the DIL!

Dad and son - they are really close.
I just thought this was a cute picture - them coming out of the cooling mist.
Oh no - he's being tossed off the alligator!

"Born Norma Jeane Mortenson in the city of LA, Marilyn Monroe (1926-1962) lived with her single mother, Gladys for only 12 days, then spent most of her sad, lonely childhood in different foster homes.

"My mother... was a pretty woman who never smiled," Monroe once recalled. "I'd seen her often before but I hadn't known quite who she was. When I said, 'Hello mama,' she stared at me. She had never kissed me or held me in her arms or hardly spoken to me."
"I don't understand why people aren't a little more generous with each other." ~ Marilyn Monroe"

And my personal opinion is that I do have sympathy for her - it hurts not to be loved. It's like learning to read. There is a specific time to learn to read in a child's life. Not that they can't be taught later on and learn to read - but it will take hard work, struggles, and determination - AND they will never learn to read as affluently as if they learned it as a young child.

Same for love - you miss it as a child - you look for it in many ways as an adult. I wonder if she every found it?

Those pictures are so sweet, Sandie. I'm glad you had a nice visit.
You have two very cute grandsons. :)
I feel for your DIL. Katie didn't like to sleep when she was that age either. I remember how miserable it was to walk around in a sleepy fog.

Very sad about Marilyn Monroe. Yes, it must hurt to not be loved. I've never known that feeling, so I'm blessed.♥

Sandie, those pictures are just wonderful. Congratulations on having two beautiful grandsons. Older GS will be a good influence on his younger cousin in the years to come.

And I don't think MM ever found what she was looking for. Ann

I love all your wonderful pictures, especially the mist one and the first swing ride!! The Marilyn thing, kind of a strange segue, is it an anniversary or something? I think she spent her whole life looking for love, but never found it because it was the love of a parent she needed. That's why she had a crush on Einstein.

I love seeing your grandsons together!
Nothing like heading north and running into 90* heat, eh?
Besides Blogger issues, I am still without my "real" computer. I am thankful for my laptop, but there is so much I miss about my desktop PC.

As for the MM quote, that really strikes home with me today. I am debating about posting something very sad and serious. Seeing this quote might be a sign that I should go ahead.

your little GS is adorable and your big GS is handsome!! It looks like they enjoyed their time with each other and your son/DIL enjoyed their time seeing you guys!! Hope little GS learsn to enjoy sleeping though!!

looks like a lot was done too over the course of the few days you were there! I bet Big GS enjoyed the zoo!!

It is hard to imagine Marilyn Monroe would have been 85 this year if she was still alive; she is immoralized at the age she died, can't imagine what she would look like as an older woman. It is sad she didn't get that love as a child; I'm sure she did keep searching for it in various ways throughout her adult life!

hang in there with catching up on being back; just take care of yourself!

Gosh, do you know that I had never read that before about Marilyn Monroe and her mum. That is very sad. That would explain a lot in her later life I guess. How wonderful to be spending time with both your grandsons, and lovely that the older one (there's that lovely smile again!) took to the little one so well. Gorgeous photos - thank you for sharing them.

I love this post. Thank you for sharing all the nice pictures, what a lovely family you have :)

Marily Monroe had a hard life - it's SAD & it HURTs not getting any love! We all need it so much - !
It should be so easy to give - but some people does not know how to - I think. Can only relate to my own mother - that was not able to give love to her children. Instead she walked away from us...that is in the past though...but still - it DID hurt!

Your g-children are adorable. And the little one is such a cutie, after 10 years I bet your DIL is tired, not used to a baby...I too feel sorry for MM I collect her memoribilia and I think she was a pretty lady with lots of talent more if she had lived longer, too bad she didn't break away from her past and move forward.. Being loved is all anyone needs and without it would hurt! Debb

Oh, your family is just too cute!! Mr. Chatty is a handsome devil, isn't he? And the two GS's?? My goodness - they are squishable - especially together.

Tell your DIL that neither of my sons ever slept much either. Things get better...

And poor Marilyn Monroe - I don't think she ever found the love she was looking for. Her life is a sad, tragic tale - I can only hope she found God at the end.

Sad about Marilyn Monroe's life, isn't it????

Hope you have had a good day.

Grandchildren are a joy and I can see that you thoroughly enjoyed your time with them! Fun photos!!
To think that everyone thought that Marilyn Monroe had it ALL but really didn't have what she so needed.

Betty said...

I don't think so. Didn't she commit suicide or was it a drug overdose? Very sad.

I wondered how long it took for you to get to Ohio. I would have thought even longer than 8 hours. Very nice family!

Toooo cute, Sandie! Your Andy is such a ham; I just cracked up at the alligator pix. My favorite? Gotta be the baby in his swing; I want to just reach inside that picture and squeeeeeeze him :)

Susan said...

Awwwwww, Sandie. Will is so absolutely ADORABLE. He's really getting to be quite the young "man." And Andy is a riot, too. I think you looked great!
Thanks for sharing these great photos of your trip. Susan

I'm so glad you got to enjoy both grandsons together. Little man is as cute as his cousin. I love the swing picture.

And I agree with what you said about Marilyn. I always think of what Jesus Christ in her life could have meant to her. Not just eternally, but here on earth.

Marilyn Monroe never did fine love or she wouldn't have killed her self. Trish
