Thursday

So what did I do last week with my time off last week?

To start off when my daughter was packing she told the GS that he could bring anything he could fit in this one suitcase. Before you knew it - he had packed the dog! Well he fit didn't he and you said anything that fit I could take...

One thing I did was babysit the dog. Now if that is not spoiled I don't know what is. When I was working at my desk, I brought him with me. Put him on a pillow on my daughter's chair and then covered him with my daughter's sweater. And then - see that silly pink pig - that is his PACIFIER - no lie! I did good huh? He looked sad - I think he missed them. I know he did.

My friend Linda lent me some books and I read 5 out of 6 of these -

I won a contest on Marie's Blog and she sent me these make yourself necklaces. She said they were easy. Easy my you know what. It took me hours and lots of retries. I knew I was in trouble when I used the glue first instead of the shiny stuff I was supposed to use, but eventually I got them done - I think they're pretty cute.

Package of items

Finished project

Okay my GS as you know is now a black belt. My daughter is giving him a party in July - my son and his family are coming (we had to wait until they had the time off). Anyway I made the GS a scrapbook - an autograph book to have. There are about 35 coming and I thought they might write something nice for him to remember.

And another thing I think I deserve a medal for is letting ah putting up with the hubby's bathroom project. We have had mold around the bottom of the tiles for quite awhile. I've been doing everything trying to get rid of it. It was deeper though into the dry wall. My GS finally put his foot down and said he wasn't going to take another shower in it! So I put my foot down to Mr. Chatty. All I have to do is threaten to get someone to do it ($$) - and it's like magic - he starts right up. It took all week. Plus a couple days this week!

Thank goodness the grandson did not see that.

And thank goodness the GS wasn't here or he would've heard a lot of new words.

Stage Two where he rigged up some type of dry wall backing.

The tiles are in - needs the grout.

So here is the finished project. He did good.

Looks like the grout is a little darker then the other - but he says it will be fine when it drys.

Besides that I answered emails and read posts! Had a great week - I slept late. Did what I wanted to do when I wanted to do it. Got to eat some extra veggies and fruits rather than having mac and cheese every night.

I missed them - glad their back - but have to admit - it was nice break. Back to reality!

Some Emily Dickinson quotes:

"Find ecstasy in life; the mere sense of living is joy enough." ~ Emily Dickinson

"Dwell in possibility."

"I've never had to go anywhere to find my paradise."

"That love is all there is is all we know of love."

"Not knowing when the dawn will come, I open every door."

Remember then - there is ecstasy in living our life and to catch the dawn you must open every door.

After all of that, it sounds like you might need to take a break from your break. Hey, just reading about all of the things you got accomplished made me tired!

Brilliant posts, as always Chatty. I LOVE that autograph book you have made for you G.S. Was a brilliant idea. I do wish I had thought of that when my 13 year old granddaughter was a bit younger. He will have fun with that, getting everyone to write in it. Autograph Books were a huge thing when I was young. One quote I always remember which was in my book, "My heart is like a cabbage, divided into two. The leaves I give to others, but the heart I give to you."!!! Sounds like you had a good time last week. As you say, now back to reality :( Hey, the finished bathroom looks great!

That should have read, "brilliant QUOTES", but, hey, it was a brilliant post as well. I'm losing it my dear friend!

Wow! You must not ever watch tv! lol You got a lot done on your staycation! I love the scrapbook you made for Andy! He will love it! Gotta laugh at that spoiled rotten Disco! Loved seeing him being all spoiled like that! Your husband did a great job on the tile around your tub! I will say that is something that we didn't do when we built our house is tile. We have full surround tubs. It makes clean up so much easier.

Hugs,

Aha! You had a busy week, but accomplished so much. I love the "autograph" book for your grandson. That's adorable!!

I've been babysittin' my grand-dog for almost three years. LOL

I noticed in your books, Barbara Delinsky; one of my very favorite authors. :)

WOW. You've hit so much that I love in this post. Lots of stuff here. First, I love the scrapbook you did for GS...such a treasure. Your necklaces are beautiful too. How clever of you to make them. And reading...I love all of Erin Hildebrandts books. And the bathroom project...neither DH nor I are do-it-yourselfers so I'm impressed with anyone who can fix up a bathroom the way your DH did. Way to go!

You certainly had a busy week Sandie! I scrapbook too! Loved the bathroom. Everyone needs a break, I am glad you got to take a week off.

Love you!

Your husband is very handy indeed!! What a good job! The dog has a pacifier, really??? When does he use it, to get to sleep, when he's nervous or scared? I LOVE LOVE LOVE the book you made!!! It will be too bad to mess it up with autographs!! Back when I was a kid, autograph books were all the rage, we would bring them to school and the kids would write such clever things in them, we took them everywhere. What I wouldn't give to have my old one now!!!

Debbie said...

Whew. What break?
I laughed about the dog in the bag. Your grandson is so funny. Speaking of, I love that you caught his "delighted" expression in photos for that scrapbook. He ALWAYS looks like he has such joy for life. Oh, that we would all look that way.

And threatening to have someone else do the work doesn't work for me. He knows that I'm the cheapest gal on the block. It works better to threaten to do it myself.

Your daughter's dog reminds me of my two dogs when we go on vacation. The first time the little one whined for days. Now she takes it in stride, but always shakes like a tree when I walk in the door!
Love the necklaces. I always have trouble with crafts. I'm all thumbs. The bathroom tiles look great!

Oh my gosh, Sandie. I'm going to be the 27th Commenter! Holy smokeroonies.

That was a great post....loved it. That little book for your GS is absolutely ADORABLE....even the little white outfit for karate! How cute is that?

And the necklaces? Charming. I could never do those.

I think dear Husband did a terrific job on the shower. Good for Andy saying he wouldn't take any more showers with the mold. ha ha hahaha I got a chuckle out of that one. ha hahaha That kid is the pizazz.

And good for you threatening $$$$$. ha hahahah Fun-nee.

Oh, Sandie, you are SUCH a delight. Have a sweet Saturday. Susan

Third, I love that you have a husband called Mr. Chatty. Fourth, good job on the bathroom. Fifth, I think you are the bee's knees.

Poor lil Disco! ... I'm convinced our furry friends "have our number" and adopt THAT look just to make our hearts flip-flop.
Did yom enjoy Janet Evanovich's book? ... She's one of my favorites, but I can't read her in public places, on account I laugh right out-loud!

You were busy! If I had said that to my husband, he would have said, "call 'em up". He's not handy, and the tubs look like that.

We'are waiting a bit to redo the bathrooms and other work.

You know what? I just got through keeping my Grandog too. You think you Grandog was sad? Mine had a blast! We had a HERD here!

Glad you read some books, made the necklaces... but girl, that was no vacation.

I love the quotes. Wonderful.

that book you made for GS, Sandie, is soooo cute! Great idea with the autograph book! I'm sure it will be something he treasures for a long time! You did a lot on your week "off". That bathroom project sounds like it was quite complicated, but glad it got done.

I'm going to remember you as a dog sitter, you spoiled Disco!! But I am sure he did miss GS. I met their reunion was wonderful!

I loved your story about what you did for *vacation*!!

That autograph book you made for GS was adorable! I had no idea that you were such a talented crone. He will absolutely love it - and it will be a cherished keepsake of his achievement, I'm sure.

Yes, Disco looks a little forlorn. Sometimes, even though Chatty is a good grandmom, a dog just misses his boy...

Mr. Chatty did good. Does he hire out?

I'll try to open more doors in my life. Never know which ones God might be opening, huh?!

Even if you have to trick him into taking action, be glad he can. My husband wears the badge of "check book man". We pay for everything to be done by others.

In fact, once we tried to change a switch plate cover and yes, it took 2 of us to do it. That is how sad we are. :-)

Hi Sandie, I didn't realize I was so behind on my visits. The pendants look amazing. I love making things I can wear.

Love the scrapbook you made with the cute embellished front.
