They had lots and lots of barns on the road here - and to tell you the truth - not much else. We had to get gas - when we saw a gas station.
Now I read in a magazine (thanks Cheri) the following and thought it was kind of interesting:
Fresh fruit - optimism
Potatoes - happiness
Tuna - cuts irritability
Salsa - reverses a gloomy mood
Vanilla - produces calm brain ways
Hot cider - erases worry
Popcorn - raises gloomy spirit
If you have any of those maybe you can try it, None of those can hurt you.
Thought for the day:
I do believe this - if you go around looking for YOUR peace in other people or in things - you'll never find it - I know - I tried to do that for a long time. I was in pain a lot of years doing this. Then I started listening to the Lord and he helped me to find peace right where I was. Now sometimes I lose it - if my stress level gets high or I am around negative people. I can fail just like anyone else. What I have to do is pick myself up by my bootstraps and move forward with the Lord. Sometimes I whine along the way too - because honestly - sometimes I don't like where I am at and I don't know where I am going. But as long as I am with Him, I'm okay even when I don't think I'm okay.
Thank you Wendy!

Honestly, without my faith I would never be able to get through life. So interesting that different foods have different effects like that!
I took a couple of photos while driving myself...lol...your words are sooooo true my friend! I miss you. love, Linda
Thanks. I am going to have to see how many ways I can add vanilla to my food and drink or maybe just to my hot cider. :)
thank you for putting a smile on my face and more faith in my heart...to start my Monday morning!!

'imagine the top of the barn' ha ha!
thanks for the boost at the end, dearie.
I have to agree with your thought of the day.
You are so right abut not depending on others for our happiness!!! Can't wait to see more barns, she is so good at high speed snapping...and I don't mean high speed shutter, but high speed car!!!
My brain's frazzled today. Been doing a lot of writing... good excuse for vanilla ice cream - LOL
Glad you like your siggy! LOL
We have to be happy with ourselves....this is a great post....pass the potatoes please!
I love your thought for the day. I know how it feels, especially lately. Thanks for the helping hand to get off my behind and move with the Lord.
I want to mix some fresh fruit and potatoes :) Lovely thoughts and great quicky barn photo! Have a lovely week.

Oh yeah, I've got a 'thing' about old barns too! Love 'em.
About the vanilla producing calm brain waves: If it's in ice cream it produces such calm brain waves that I'm asleep on the couch in about 20 minutes!! Totally knocks me out. :-)
I am impressed, at 70mph, my pic would be a blur.
Hum,think I will have some fruit before my dentist appointment.
Great barn shot...especially going so fast!
I need a gallon of vanilla. Shhh...don't tell anyone. ;)
Nice barn even topless. Now I have to go buy a bag of potatoes.
I love old barns and your thought for the day. Good things to think on!
Love the barns. Now for some hot cider...
Your last paragraph I can totally relate to. I've learned to turn it over to the Lord - whatever the worry is - but I still can't stop worrying sometimes. Sometimes the answer does not come right away and I am trying to remember that.
The roadsides in our neck of the woods can be a little desolate too. That's why I had to create all kinds of crazy car games to play. I love looking at old barns.
And Sandie, I loved your concluding thought for the day. I think you are very right about it, too.
The thought for the day is oh so true!
Love your thought for the day . I like all you posted always.
Hugs

Lots of good food for thought in this post. And I love old barns.
Have a fun day! ...Marsha
Hi Sandie, I am back again :-) and it feels great.
Nice picture of the barn. I really loved the thought of today. THat is so true though, we cannot find peace anywhere else than within ourselves, where we are. Hope you're having a great day my friend.
Big hugs to you
Eva
Hi Sandie...It's sooooo true that peace and happiness are inside jobs. Thanks for your post today, and every day. Susan
Thanks for the lift and inspiration on this Monday afternoon!
Have a wonderful week,
Karen :)
So true, no one else can bring us peace or joy. Thanks for the reminder. Have a beautiful week.
Just a quick note to say Happy Monday (even though it's almost over) - but as always, I enjoyed your positive post. I whole heartedly agree with finding peace within yourself - it took me some time to get there, but better late than never ;-)
Take care, Sandie!
Very thoughtful entry, I love the quote by 'unknown'. Makes one think. I am a sucker for quotes. I always say, "I wish I had thought of that!"
Barns? Love 'em when I can each a camera, I cannot resist a shot of a barn.
Love from NC
I agree with your theory about finding peace within yourself..this is TRUTH!...:)JP
I love the barn photo. That is almost all I saw this weekend on our drive up north. I must have got a dozen photos of barns. I could have got more but my camera battery died.
I should have had a tuna sandwich for lunch today :)
Have a great week. Happy Monday!
I'm thinking of taking up drinking Vanilla.
Amen Sandi.
You are right on with this.
The only way to go through life is to have the Lord holding our hand.
Love the barns. I'm partial to them.
I think I need to try all of these foods. . . I have it all, lol.
Like your thought for the day.The only way to find peace and real happiness is in him.
I'm with ya on the vanilla.....even when it is in cookies and cake!!! Nice ending to your post today. You are your own destiny!
Love barns.
So if I mixed all those foods together would I have a great day or a stomach ache?
I like your drive-by barn! I haven't seen the list of foods and what they do for you before, that's neat. I love to smell popcorn popping. Then I love to eat a big bowl of it!
Just finished a bag of popcorn!
I love barns. Good go get that pic at 70mph!
Hmmm....Now I know what to fix "a family member" for lunch. Tuna!:)
Ok well the popcorn sure did it for me last night on the couch watching TV, which I do not do a lot of. Thanks for that, I think that list makes a lot of sense. I will copy it.
Sure you can ride home with me, but I was not too sure you would like that lizard eating the leaves photo!
Great post for a Monday! Now the rest of the week will go more smoothly! Thanks!
Wonderful advice for all of us to follow. I know life would be a lot harder if I did not have my faith.
Also having so many good Christians buddies like you sure make my life happier.
Have a wonderful week honey
Love
Maggie
oh lots of popcorn helps indeed!!!
I need some vanilla! :) I do love potatoes...mmmm! Chocolate should be on the list...
Nice barn pic, especially at that speed. :) Totally agree with your thought for the day.:)
Marie
Based on your tips... I should be optimistic, happy and worry-free. No gloom here at all. LOL LOVED this. Take care.
I think there is definitely a connection between eating healthy foods and feeling happier....I see it with my own eyes in my kids.
and I agree with my whole heart...faith is a beautiful gift.
love your barn!!!
I ilked the thought for the day, Sandie. That is so true, isn't it? Cool looking barn!! I honestly can't remember the last time I saw a barn here........even on our Sunday drives; will have to see if one exists here :)

I enjoyed very much reading your lovely post.
Reading through your writing. I could relate to a time when i wondered who and where i was going, and if there was such a thing as peace.!
Oh how divine it was.. when i realised peace is from within. Its the most wonderful feeling ,and brings happiness.
We must have faith. Like you say, negativity is so not good. I cannot be around negative people.
I have become a follower ..I like the way you write and your blog is lovely.
Hope to see you my side.
best wishes Happy tuesday
val
Well I say she did pretty good for trying to capture a barn at 70 mph! I fully agree with your thought for the day- peace is not found in others, but in our own hearts. Have a great week Sandie!
I guess I need to be guzzling hot cider?
um....potatoes, my absolute favorite food group. no wonder i'm so happy.
i loved this entry today, i printed your thought for today for a few people i know who would benefit from reading it!!
and whoops....charming barn, by the time i got to the end i forgot about it!!
shame on you, sharing "topless" barns!!
That video was so sweet!
Love old barns, one of my most favorite things to photograph in black and white.
Great "feel good" post.........I smiled a lot...thanks!
I like the food list listening to the news I need to eat lots more tuna! LOL
Each of those foods produces the desired result I'm sure but I'm a firm believer that chocolate cures all. Sorry, I couldn't resist.
i really liked the thought for the day and your wonderful advice.
