TODAY IS THE OLDEST YOU'VE EVER BEEN, YET THE YOUNGEST YOU'LL EVER BE, SO ENJOY THIS DAY WHILE IT LASTS.
Observations on Growing Older (and for you youngins' - you can see what you are in store for!)
Your kids are becoming you... and your grandchildren are perfect!
Going out is good.. Coming home is better!
When people say you look "Great"... they add "for your age!"
You forget names.... but it's OK because other people forgot they even knew you!!!
Your spouse is counting on you to remember things you don't remember.
Your spouse sleeps better on a lounge chair with the TV blaring than he or she does in bed. It's called their "pre-sleep".
Remember when your mother said, "Wear clean underwear in case you GET in an accident"? Now you bring clean underwear in case you HAVE an accident!
You used to say, "I hope my kids GET married... Now, "I hope they STAY married!"
You miss the days when everything worked with just an "ON" and "OFF" switch..
You tend to use more 4 letter words ... "what?"..."when?"... ???
What used to be freckles are now liver spots.
Now that your spouse has retired ... you'd give anything if he/she would find a job!
Just having a little fun today about growing old. I have said many, many times that growing old is not for sissies. And yes it is better than the alternative. But they doesn't mean it's easy or that you don't ever think about it.
I realized something about myself, if I concentrate on the negative worries then I worry. I get nervous and unhappy.
If I concentrate on tomorrow - it's really something I have no control over what so ever. Life can change on a dime. So it's kind of futile. A waste of my time.
However, if I concentrate on today and the positives that I have right there and then - I'm happy!! I can't change what has happened in the past. So when I do something wrong - I pray and ask forgiveness. It's tough some times believing God can forgive me for all my sins, but that is guilt. I have to push past that and believe that God forgives even me and wants me to be happy.
And the really wonderful thing is - he wants that for you too!
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
"People deal too much with the negative, with what is wrong. Why not try and see positive things, to just touch those things and make them bloom?"

I hope that things go smoothly for Katelyn (and for her parents - I cannot imagine how scared they must be)
I'm praying for Katelyn and her family. Bless her little heart.
So many of these hit home for me. Aging...oh yes, it is something to come and the best way for me to handle it, is to just be thankful!
Have a wonderful day.
Praying for Katelyn and family. I love my age! lol
i just prayed for her before i started to comment.
i love love all of these and every single one of them is true for me and for all my friends. i found this on Corner of a Cats mind a few minutes ago. this is ME
Catherine, corner of a cats mind says
'm having problems with my memory.
I am repeating myself.
I can't recall names.
I freeze in the middle of a sentence,
not remembering what I was talking about.
I say the wrong words for things.
I walk into a room and forget why I'm there.
I'm having problems with my memory...
Oh...did I just tell you that?
I think I am missing a few rolls of film in the camera of my brain.
Praying for katelyn !!!! I couldn't imagine going through something like that! Have a great day
KATELYN has my prayers. I wish her well as she undergoes this surgery. LOVE your quotes. Particularly the one about your spouse counting on you to remember. LOL Take care.
Hi Sandie,
I will be praying for Katelyn.
xo,
Dee
HA!!! So thanks to you I am gonna enjoy the youngest I will ever be to day!!!! Love the entry, and certainly prayers for the little one.
Love from NC
Thank you for another uplifting post, as always, Sandie. I can relate to the old age sayings, some of them at least. A positive attitude is useful at any age, but especially when you're older and not feeling well or even worse...being a grump just makes people not want to be around you. I love that song by the young Shirley Temple "Be optimistic!" I saw it on You Tube and listening to it makes me smile every time.
I prayed for Katelyn right away since she's in surgery now and asked for God to guide the surgeon's hands to make her all better. Have a lovely day :-)
Praying for little Katelyn! Loved this post and I can so relate to most of them! Love the thought that today is the youngest I will ever be again! :-) Just love your blog!
Praying for Katelyn!

Will say a prayer for your daughter's student, Sandie. I loved those lines on aging, LOL; was sharing a few with my hubby. I do enjoy your attitude about each and every day; I need to adopt that more.

There are a couple on that list I am acquainted with for sure. I used to laugh at my mother and now I am her and my daughters laugh at me. It's all good.
It's early pm now, I pray Katelyn did well.
Thanks for making me chuckle today! Trusting God to touch this little girl of His knowing that He is faithful and good! We serve a God who still heals!
Katelyn will be in my prayers.

This really is wonderful article ! I simply love’d it !
Hi Sandie. I have said a little prayer for Katelyn. Bless. Love your new header photo by the way, and all these funnies about getting older were great. Oh, you are so right about concentrating on the day, and not fretting about the past, or worrying about the future. Something that we should all heed. Make the most of the moment and count our blessings each and every day. I certainly do!
I will keep Katelynin my prayers. I love getting old as long as my husband is along for the ride.
Praying and believing all will be well with Katelyn.
Reading your post I am reminded that I am old...LOL
Prayers for Katelyn. I can relate to far too many of those things on aging
I love your thought for the day, Sandie and I have incorporated in my blog some advices you've shared to me. Happy weekend :)
And, when do freckles become age spots? That is SO unfair!
Hi Sandie -
I like your thought for the day. It's fine to have goals, but it's another thing to enjoy the journey.
Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting. I hope you do pick up Julie's book.
Blessings,
Susan :)
prayer sent - I love your posts!
Hi Sandie, I will pray for Katelyn... Poor little thing.
Love your thought for the day --and enjoyed the "Getting Older" thoughts.... I love that one that says "Going out is good. Coming home is better."
And I do miss the days when everything worked with just an 'on' and 'off' switch... I was trying to turn on a 'fancy' radio today ---and there were tons of switches but none which said 'on' or 'off'.... Geeeeessssshhhh.
Have a great weekend.
Hugs,
Betsy
Oh my goodness - I hope Katelyn is OK.
Will do, regarding the prayers for little Katelyn, Sandie.
You are right that we must remain in the moment in order to have a quality life.
Take care. Susan
Adding my prayers for Katelyn! Thanks for the thoughts on aging. My thought today was any part of me can go at any time and the warranty has run out. Grateful for every day when the parts all work. Wishes for a fabulous Friday!
I will include Katelyn in my prayers.
I try to enjoy today, but sometimes I do worry about tomorrow. I'm working on it.
I make a to do list for everday. :)
Have a nice weekend Sandie!
Marie xo!
Thanks for sharing ... your positive outlook is contagious. Keep spreading good vibes. Prayers for the little gal.

A little prayer for Katelyn can yield BIG results. She's got mine.
Hate the addition of "for your age". I'm hearing it more and more.
I pray this little girl is doing well after her surgery and all will be well and healed too! It breaks my heart when little kids have to have surgery....
Hugs,
Angela
