Thursdays - Feeling Day

TODAY IS THE OLDEST YOU'VE EVER BEEN, YET THE YOUNGEST YOU'LL EVER BE, SO ENJOY THIS DAY WHILE IT LASTS.

Observations on Growing Older (and for you youngins' - you can see what you are in store for!)

Your kids are becoming you... and your grandchildren are perfect!

Going out is good.. Coming home is better!

When people say you look "Great"... they add "for your age!"

You forget names.... but it's OK because other people forgot they even knew you!!!

Your spouse is counting on you to remember things you don't remember.

Your spouse sleeps better on a lounge chair with the TV blaring than he or she does in bed. It's called their "pre-sleep".

Remember when your mother said, "Wear clean underwear in case you GET in an accident"? Now you bring clean underwear in case you HAVE an accident!

You used to say, "I hope my kids GET married... Now, "I hope they STAY married!"

You miss the days when everything worked with just an "ON" and "OFF" switch..

You tend to use more 4 letter words ... "what?"..."when?"... ???

What used to be freckles are now liver spots.

Now that your spouse has retired ... you'd give anything if he/she would find a job!

Just having a little fun today about growing old. I have said many, many times that growing old is not for sissies. And yes it is better than the alternative. But they doesn't mean it's easy or that you don't ever think about it.

I realized something about myself, if I concentrate on the negative worries then I worry. I get nervous and unhappy.

If I concentrate on tomorrow - it's really something I have no control over what so ever. Life can change on a dime. So it's kind of futile. A waste of my time.

However, if I concentrate on today and the positives that I have right there and then - I'm happy!! I can't change what has happened in the past. So when I do something wrong - I pray and ask forgiveness. It's tough some times believing God can forgive me for all my sins, but that is guilt. I have to push past that and believe that God forgives even me and wants me to be happy.

And the really wonderful thing is - he wants that for you too!

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:

"People deal too much with the negative, with what is wrong. Why not try and see positive things, to just touch those things and make them bloom?"

I have a prayer request. My daughter is a teacher and she has a student - a little girl named Katelyn - who is going in for brain surgery this morning at 8:30am - if you would say a little prayer for her we'd both appreciate it. Thank you ahead of time. And I'll let you know tomorrow how she is. ♥

I hope that things go smoothly for Katelyn (and for her parents - I cannot imagine how scared they must be)

I'm praying for Katelyn and her family. Bless her little heart.

So many of these hit home for me. Aging...oh yes, it is something to come and the best way for me to handle it, is to just be thankful!
Have a wonderful day.

i just prayed for her before i started to comment.
i love love all of these and every single one of them is true for me and for all my friends. i found this on Corner of a Cats mind a few minutes ago. this is ME

Catherine, corner of a cats mind says
'm having problems with my memory.
I am repeating myself.
I can't recall names.
I freeze in the middle of a sentence,
not remembering what I was talking about.
I say the wrong words for things.
I walk into a room and forget why I'm there.
I'm having problems with my memory...
Oh...did I just tell you that?

I think I am missing a few rolls of film in the camera of my brain.

Thank you for another uplifting post, as always, Sandie. I can relate to the old age sayings, some of them at least. A positive attitude is useful at any age, but especially when you're older and not feeling well or even worse...being a grump just makes people not want to be around you. I love that song by the young Shirley Temple "Be optimistic!" I saw it on You Tube and listening to it makes me smile every time.
I prayed for Katelyn right away since she's in surgery now and asked for God to guide the surgeon's hands to make her all better. Have a lovely day :-)

Looking forward to getting a mo to look at your backdated posts too as well as future ones. It is sooooooooo good to visit such a fun filled site.

Hi Sandie. I have said a little prayer for Katelyn. Bless. Love your new header photo by the way, and all these funnies about getting older were great. Oh, you are so right about concentrating on the day, and not fretting about the past, or worrying about the future. Something that we should all heed. Make the most of the moment and count our blessings each and every day. I certainly do!

Hi Sandie, I will pray for Katelyn... Poor little thing.

Love your thought for the day --and enjoyed the "Getting Older" thoughts.... I love that one that says "Going out is good. Coming home is better."

And I do miss the days when everything worked with just an 'on' and 'off' switch... I was trying to turn on a 'fancy' radio today ---and there were tons of switches but none which said 'on' or 'off'.... Geeeeessssshhhh.

Have a great weekend.
Hugs,
Betsy

You are right that we must remain in the moment in order to have a quality life.

Take care. Susan
