Good Morning Monday

Yet another high speed barn.  Now I think it is still being used.  And there is another barn like facility attached. Can any one tell me what they think - I am learning to become a barn expert.

Apple Pie (Diabetic)

5 c. Peeled, sliced apples

1 tsp. cinnamon

Dash Salt

6 pkgs. Sweet 'n Low Sweetner ( or Splenda)
Dash nutmeg
Dot with margarine (or butter)

Mix all ingredients. Pour into 2 crust pie shell and bake until done, about 1 hour. Enjoy. Jean

It's a rainy day in Georgia and it feels like it is raining all over the world!
So for some fun and to salute our mothers again - here is a little video you might enjoy and relate too.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY!

You know, I used to think the future was solid or fixed, something you inherited like an old building that you move into when the previous generation moves out or gets chased out. But it's not. The future is not fixed; it's fluid. You can build your own building, or hut or condo...the world is more malleable than you think and it's waiting for you to hammer it into shape.” Bono

I need to add to this – You need a partner to hammer it in shape – you can’t do it alone.
Jesus is a great partner!

I have good news to tell you about my daughters little girl in her room.  It took 3 brain surgeries to fix the spinal fluid.  She is coming back today!  Can you believe that?  Thanks for your prayers. I hate to ask one more, but my sister Carmen has a coworker whose son, named Justin Melendez, that was just given the diagnosis of cancer.  He's 13.   He's been in the hospital since before Easter.  The cancerous mass is affecting multiple organs.  Thanks. I always try to pray for children - it is so sad - that is the hardest for me to understand.  And then young people.  THANK YOU!

Good Morning Sweetie...
Love seeing the barn. It always makes me think of Grand Daddy when I see a barn and the farm back in Oklahoma. He had an attached area as well that the bales of hay were kept under. Many memories climbing up that stack to play King of the Mountain. Thanks for sharing and giving me a beautiful memory this morning sweet friend.

I will be adding this sweet boy, Justin to my prayers. We know that prayer in numbers moves many mountains.

Being an insulin diabetic myself I am always looking for a delish recipe. This pie sounds wonderful and I am going to give it a try this coming weekend. Thanks to the lovelies who shared with us today.

Have a glorious day sweetie. Many hugs and much love, Sherry

Cancer is devastating no matter what age it seems. But I will add that boy to my prayer list as well as his parents. It's not ever easy to see any suffer, but to see any of our children hurting, hurts us too. There is often little we can do but pray and trust the good Lord to do the rest. I wanted to answer some of your questions so here goes...I live in northern Ohio, close to Lake Erie, 30 minutes away from Cleveland. I have 7 children, all married, and will very soon have 17 grand children. My only daughter is expecting her first any day now. I've been a widow for almost 20 years now and live on my own. My children are scattered here and there and only two live close by. I hope that this will help you to know me a little better.

Hi There, I'm trying to begin catching up -after being gone for a week.

Love your thought for the day today... I do think we need to continue to get out there and "make memories" as much as we can!!!!! My partner does help 'hammer' my future into shape!!!!!

I know this 'waiting period' is hard for you all. My love and prayers are with you. Please keep me posted.

Hugs,
Betsy

"HIgh speed barn"? I know a few things about barns, but never heard of that one before. Must be an American invention. How fast does a "high speed barn" travel?

Good news and sad news about children. "The rain falls on the just and the unjust." Disaster comes the same way.

The pie looks good!
My recipe for 'quick and simple' apple pie:

1 can apple pie filler mix
3-4 apples of your choice
3 pie crusts

Slice apples and mix with the pie filler
Pour into TWO two pie crusts
Cut the third crust into stips and place with lattice weaving on top of the pies
Bake in preheated oven, 425°, for 40 to 50 minutes until crust is brown

Makes two pies, serves 16

If you wish more flavor, add a couple of pinches each of nutmeg and cinamin

This is my own recipe but Mrs. Jim now uses it often. Realy 'quick and simple'. There is always more liquid than one should use in a can of the commercial filler mix.
..
Still praying and will add Justin.
..

Jim said...

Sometimes I put in 5 or 6 apples, depending on their size. The pie is a little more tart and has a third less calories than using just plain mix.

this apple pie is good even with out the crust, i have made that many times. it is good. glad to hear about the little girl and sad about the 13 year old. this thing with kids and cancer is hard to understand.

Coloring Outside the Lines said...

That is definitely a working barn- no rust hiding anywhere!

I think I might try this pie- without the crust- for the dh. He is on the LCHF diabetic diet and this would fit right in.

Prayers sent for the kids- that just breaks my heart.

Thanks for the apple pie recipe, sounds good! I need to watch my sugar intake too, but I'm not very good at it. Thankfully, my numbers haven't been too bad.

So glad to hear the good news about the little girl, but sad to hear about Justin. I will remember him in my prayers.

About the barn...great drive-by shot, btw...it might be used for storing machinery. At least back in the day before such monster tractors, etc, my dad had something like a pole barn and he called it a 'machine shed' and parked tractors in it along with various tools. It might be used to put hay in, too. There are any number of uses for a pole barn on a farm.

Have a good week! Hope your hubby is doing better. Keeping him in my prayers, too.

Hugs, Cheryl

When I was living in Oklahoma someone told me one time that horses will not eat the hay if it gets wet. I think the hay was stored in that other thing to keep it dry.
