Good Morning Monday

GOOD MORNING BLOG FRIENDS! Hope you had a fairly good weekend. Our big event here was seeing the Avengers. The characters were great. But am I the only person that didn't like that city tore up like like? Reminded me of 9-11. It was good though and my family loved it.

Okay yes yet another (high speed) barn picture -  from South Carolina.  I am going to have to start looking for some more here.  Now I know the attachment is called a pole barn.  And this kind of looks like a house  to me, but it was a barn.

What is this you ask?  My grandson made this for me last night.  It is a waffle with whipped cream for the hair, two cherries for the eyes, and a chocolate mouth.  (And then he brings me - sugar free syrup.

The next picture is the boys 'resting'. The story behind it is kind of funny. Well Rick is supposed to sit and rest. And Disco is used to resting with him - and lays where the grandson is sitting. Well grandson decided to sit with grandpa and help him rest - playing with the X-box (which I hate.) Anyhow then Disco had to be up there - but he kept looking at grandpa and crying for his spot!

Now here is the recipe of the week. Sent to me by Jenn's Three Graces.  Apple Nachos.  From Pinterst.
Obviously this isn’t a recipe–use your imagination and your fave toppings to make THE perfect apple nachos!

I used (to feed 1 1/2 kids and 2 adults): 3 crispy and slightly tart apples (we ♥ honeycrisp! yum…)

1 tsp lemon juice
3 tbsp creamy natural peanut butter
1/4 cup sliced almonds 1/4 cup pecans
1/4 cup flaked unsweetened coconut
1/4 cup vegan chocolate chips
For these, I sliced up some apples thin enough so it would be easy to eat the slice in one or two bites.
I also lightly spritzed the apples with lemon juice to keep them from browning too fast.
Then I melted some peanut butter–until it was super runny–and drizzled it all over the apples.
Next, I topped the apples and peanut butter with unsweetened flaked coconut, sliced almonds, a few pecans and, of course, chocolate chips.
And finally, I drizzled a little more peanut butter onto the plate. Ya know, for good measure.
Couldn’t get much easier! Be sure to eat these with your hands, just like real nachos.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:

 Love,

Yummy food in your blog today. The waffle and the nachos sound very good to me! Nice your grandson can be spending sometime with your hubby. Helps to pass the time when there is someone to share it with. Hope your Monday is a great one!

Awwwwww, the waffle face was adorable. The nachos sound terrific, too. There's a caramel sauce in the super called Mrs. Richardson's....near the ice cream. Oh Sandie, if you have it there, buy it. It's FABULOUS.

Loved the new header, too. Your blog is adorable and so are you! Susan

Afternoon Monday Here. My Mom used to say. Monday all day.

Love pix of your hubby trying to relax. It is hard I can imagine.Hard for men. God bless him for getting into the game thing with your Grandson.Unless he can watch a sport of his choice as my hubby is a soccer fan and most days he has games. Not much your hubby can do.
Poor dog, ha,ha. That is cute.

Like the Smiley waffles. how cute is that and artistic.

Apple Nacho's. Interesting.

May you be feeling somewhat relaxed now my dear friend.

Wow, where to begin? OK- I pray I am a good example to my daughter and SS kids, but I know I fail, sigh , at times- relying on grace but hopeful...?!
I love the way your grandson thinks...it kinda makes sense. It's like when I used to work at this salad place years ago- the ladies would come in and order salad with diet dressing, Diet soda and Cheesecake for dessert! ;)Seriously. And hey, that's ok!
Yum on the apple dish. And the Anne Frank quote and toon is sweet. One of my favorite hard to fathom lives...and journal keepers. Happy Monday- Hugs!

Disco is adorable!

Good Morning Sandie!
I am glad to read your story for today. I am also glad to see your husband and your grandson together with Disco, your other baby.
I am still praying for your dear husband complete healings and prompt recovery. I believe in the power of prayers. God can heal at a single touch, if we have faith, if we believe in our Heavenly Father. The Lord is the answer to all our prayers, Sandie.
Thank you, Sandie for sharing your love with the world!!
You are an amazing friend, Sandie.
God bless you and those you love!!

Nice laid back Monday entry. Good to read. Like the resting, as the hubby should be doing. And in spite of some bumps in the road, everyone usually gets their seats back!!!
The recipe sounds good. Never seen or thought of it, but sherry would love it, it has p-nut butter. hahaha

Love sent from the Mts of NC.

Hey Sandy, Sounds like you had a good weekend. I saw The Avengers too--I really enjoyed it (loved Robert Downey's character's wry sense of humor in the movie). I've seen the apple nachos turn up on Pinterest a "ton" of times so they must be good-I'll give them a try. Have a good week. Mickie ;)

There you go again with a recipe containing peanut butter and chocolate. Do you own stock in Nestle's?

Love the picture of your family. Where you see males together, you know there is some kind of video game involved.

Hi Sandie, you sound like you had a nice weekend. Do like your new header picture too. :) I don't know the Avengers, I don't think we have that here. (Unless it is a movie, then we might.)

Do you know what a 'loafing shed is? We used to have them for the pigs.

I was running through some old pictures this afternoon and found a recent picture of the old barn on our formerly ours farm.

It, a corn crib, the newer chicken house, and the tractor and equipment sheds were all that were left. The new owner had bulldozed the rest down, including the house were my sister and I were born.

awww, the photo of 'the boys' is so much fun...reminds me of my boys! Oh my goodness Sandie, I think those apple nachos look scrumptious but dangerous! Glad to hear you had a good weekend...we had a nice one but goodness where did it go?

Eat To Live said...

The apple nachos sound really good. I was just thinking I am a little hungry. I never snack at night... not good for my digestion, but that looks so good.

Rob-bear said...

If that's a pole barn, why is it in South Carolina and not at the North Pole? (Is this post every confusing — or, I mean, the pole is confusing. No, want . . . what's the difference between a pole and a post?)

Poor Disco. Probably someone finally told he is is only a Dog. That's terribly depressing news for a dog like Disco. Are you going to have to take him to a doggie psychiatrist to deal with the depression?

The apple nachos like lovely. How many calories?

How cute with your hubby and GS and Disco sharing a chair!! Maybe the XBox is good though for these times when hubby can't do a lot of stuff; he is bonding still with GS and spending time with him.

That recipe looks interesting; I'll have to check it out more and maybe have it for next month's hospitality for church.

Apple nachos....now that is something I'm gonna try. And as for Disco losing out on his 'spot' ---that photo is still a great, happy one. I like it very much. The waffle...sweet. No matter what kind of syrup; still got a kick out of the sugar free syrup tho.

And most of all----------always love your drive by shootings [of barns!!]

A very artistic waffle! You just never know when your grand-children's talents will emerge:)

Three grandchildren, a friend of theirs and their dad are coming this weekend. Poor Slim will have to give up all her resting places and, though not a lap dog size, she will finally manage to get on my lap and claim me at some point.
