Monday

My grandson starts 6th grade today - middle school - not only is it a new school - he is going to a Christian private school - if you'd say a quick little prayer for him - I'd appreciate it. A lot of you prayed for him to get in this school months ago.  Thanks again.

Do you think this was an old barn redone as a store or was it always a store?  Just looked like a barn to me.

PEACH CROSTATA

Preheat oven to 425 degrees
In a large bowl toss 1 pound peaches peeled and thinly sliced
3 tablespoons of brown sugar
1 tablespoon of cornstarch
1/8 teaspoon of ground ginger
pinch of salt
1 ready to use pie crust - lay on cookie sheet
arrange peach mixture on crust
leave 2 inch border  and fold over filling
bake 25 to 30 minutes until golden brown
serves 4

I prayed for GS to find good friends and to have no fear of new school and for protection for him.
i think the store was built like a barn. we have two here that look lie barns and they were built as stores. the Feed and Seed looks just like an old old barn, but is not.

Peach Crostata? Sounds delicious! We're thinking peaches today. :-)

That first day of school is always intimidating, isn't it.

I hope your grandson has a great first day of school. My oldest grandson is also going into 6th grade (starts next Monday) but his elementary school goes through 6th grade so he has another year before middle school.

I'll be praying for your grandson and all my grands too that they have a great school year. It's scary going to a new school. I have them all ages from 2nd year college down to 2 months old. When I talked to one of my granddaughters yesterday she was very excited as she's going into a new school too. She loves school and I hope that she always finds it a good place to learn and grow.

Wow! I didn't know school started so early in Georgia. He'll do great, Sandie. And yes, prayers are rolling!

Hey! I like your new profile photo. So cool. You look glam! Susan

oh dear Chatty!

I started my morning off early then headed back to bed. But, when I read your prayer request, I acted upon it right then and there.

I love your thought for the day. Those birdies are so serious and cute.

Me thinks that has always been a store. Sensible building for a store.

happy week! happy monday!

Paula said...

Good luck to your grandson with his new school. I think the store was just built to have that barn look. Just my opinion of course.

Southhamsdarling said...

Hi Sandie. Yes, I did pray that your grandson would get into the school of your choice, and I am praying now that he will settle in, do well, and make lots of nice, new friends. It is such a worry, isn't it?! Eli will be starting 'big' school in early September. He was only four at the end of June. It's far too early I think, but they only have one intake a year now . Hope all is well with you, and that hubby is now fighting fit again!

Happy First day at school to GS!

Jim said...

Hi Sandie ~~ I prayed for the GS in his first day and then for as long as he goes there. I also prayed for the teachers that have him that they will help this 'new kid' to adapt and help the others to make friends with him.

If it is red and looks like a barn it doesn't have to smell like a barn to be one. My vote is YES. I can imagine that they sell koloches and sausage sandwiches there plus have a little bakery.

I might try (probably not) your peach crostata. The recipe makes it sound really good, especially with some 'Blue Bell Lite Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream.'
..
I'll pray for that and for him more. He was already on my prayer list.

Just said a prayer for your grandson...my son went to a christian school when he started The sixth grade and did real well.It was a good decision. He is 38 now. I do not think that is or was a barn. :)

G'Day Sandie,

Wow! I can't believe how quickly that's come around - your grandson now in his new school and year six!

I hope he will enjoy his new school and have a wonderful year learning lots of new and really cool stuff!

You all have my prayers, especially Andy. Hope he had a good day and has a great transition. Hugs across the miles!

They probably ordered a barn, then decided .. well..Why not!!!

Good for you guys and the private school, I believe it gives a child a leg up. Too many discipline problems in public school anymore, and that is a shame.
SWEET the birds on the cups, appro the captioning.

That is a lovely recognition of prayer for purpose...I wish him well for his year. It's great to be able to choose the school you feel will best fit for him, the entire family.

It just seems so early for school to be starting. It's going to be another two weeks here.

The Crostata sounds delicious. It makes me want some peaches but the ones I have seen so far haven't been that good.

TARYTERRE said...

Hope your grandson had a GOOD day in his NEW school. I'm sure he'll be fine after a little adjustment period. Have never made a crostata. Will pass the recipe on to my mom since I'm avoiding sweets. take care.

I hope it went well! Sorry I'm always on the tail end. I have a new work function that is keeping me extremely busy at work and then I often have some church committee or other to go to after work.

That peach thing sounds marvelous.
