Thursdays Thoughts

Our field trip last weekend was to the SWEET AUBURN FARMER'S MARKET - in downtown Atlanta.

I have a thing for farmer's markets and wanted to visit this once I read about it on Jojo's blog.
So off we went.

First coming in were the beautiful flowers.

They had some very unusual ones.

For a great price!
;

The hotdog stand?

All things made with tilapia fish.

;

Afro dishes.

Afrodish Restaurant
;

Fresh fish.

Now the pralines looked good.

And the popcorn.  GS couldn't take the smells so we had to sit him here - lol.
Complete with a book store.

That was a restaurant where they sat on stools and watched a movie during lunch.

Each store had it's own little items for sale.

Fresh produce

We bought a pigs ear here for Disco - and when they gave it to us it was raw and wiggly. I thought it was already ready to eat.  Have to admit I did not know what to do it with and for 99 cents we threw it away.

They had other pig parts too. There were feet and stomachs too.

We loved the coffee.

Now do you see the two on their phones ????

This was the best station.

Just showing you one of Georgia's treasures today.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:

I think I filled my canvas with a little new knowledge don't you?  I don't think my family will come back though.  Lol     Do you like to do different new things?

Love, Chatty

What an experience! Everywhere is something for someone. The pig ear made me giggle. I saw a show where they made a pig ear sandwich. ick.

Looks like a fun place to visit and purchase some yummy items, well except for the pig's ear. I would have done what you did also! Love the photos from the previous post. Those are amazing makeovers!

That looks like a wonderful Farmers Market, I wish we had something like this closer to me. You'll have to email me where it is located and maybe we'll go there. Is it open year round?

LOL on the pig's ear. I suppose you could've stuck it on the grill or something.

I love markets like that and have visited a couple but try to stick with only the things I'm familiar with...no pigs ears for me. It seems I learn something new every day. I don't always get to someplace new but no day is the same and has some lessons of its own for us. Now if only I'd remember all of them. Hope your Thursday is a wonderful one!

Myh 16 year old has been redecorating her room and bought some of those very flowers she's used in different ways. They look really cute, too~

It looks like a lovely market...I think I'll just pick up some of that popcorn and head to the bookstore.

It looks like a very fun place and like a very fancy farmers market....a few cuts above the one in our little town that is mostly trailers and stands along a street.

I like venturing through different places. But I'm afraid you would have to seat me with GS before going through all of those fish smells. And I'm not sure I'd tarry over the pig parts but the rest of the place looks great. (especially the Coffee place!) It looks like you like have a good start on covering your canvas.

I had to smile about the hog ear. My best friend and BIL Sonny loved hog ears. His wife hated the smell of them frying, so every once in awhile he would treat himself to hog ears out in the garage.

Yes, we do love to experience different things and places. We prefer to see and do the things that are natural and free.
Like everyone else we have been to some theme parks, etc. But now we prefer to see farm land, mountains, lakes and sea.
AND when the chance arises, we love to meet with Blogging friends.
Love from New York...

(Love Tilapia, but the stewed/curried Goat don't yank my chain.

Looks like a delightful spot. Thanks for the tour. The bakery, I think, would be the best stop.

It looks wonderful. the photos are great too.

What a fantastic market? Wiggly pigs ear? Couldn't the dog eat it as is. You know, get in touch with his primitive side.

Susan said...

Oh YES, Sandie. I love to do different things. I'll go anywhere. That market looked great! I would have loved to have been along with you. Thanks for sharing. Susan

i wouldn't think a raw pig ear would be very sanitary - for disco or for you, actually.

What a great place..so fun with pic. Now, that is a place you may need to know about when you need a whole pig. It could happen.

renae said...

oh so you had an adventure, too. I only bought a pair of reading glasses. They are really cute. They'll be on a blog some day, I'm sure.

I love to do different things - interesting but safe, I have my limits. New Malls around the town are always fun. My youngest daughter is always finding new things to see.

Thanks for always being there for me. :D

I love to visit different places. I like to try different foods, too, but I'm still kind of picky. I definitely would have bought some pralines. Yummy.

Wow, that would be such a fun place to visit!

I like to visit farmers markets. They are mostly all different. Some are modern like yours, other just have bare bone stuff like stalls to back the pickup trucks full of produce, etc, into.

You should have taken the pig's ear home, keeping it cold, and frided it. To fry it, slit it in half to make it thinner first.

Well, the first thing would be to skin it if it had skin with hairs. The market should have done that for you.

Texas for sure, we had a chain of drive in restaurants called The Pig Stand. I think they are all closed now. They made pig's ear sandwiches. They were also the first restaurant to have the drive in concept of service.

Disco would have loved it, you might have. Our grandkids didn't even want to try one.

Yes, I love to do different things....it gets stagnant if you tend to do everything the same.

Now, the first thing I thought was: This farmer's market is INdoors?!!! That's a first for me. And please....take me directly to the Praline shoppe!!!!!!

The popcorn looks delicious!! I don't know if I could handled the pig ear. When I was younger, I used to eat pigs feet and oxtails (cooked by my mom). My tastebuds sure have changed.

This post brought back such wonderful memories of the Winn Dixie that we shopped at when we lived in Jacksonville. I am so anxious to get to Georgia!! Its been so long now. The shopping there is amazing! The supermarkets in the South are so superior to ours in Southern California. I remember the big fish tanks with the live lobsters...etc. etc.
Yep...LOVED the South and always will. Our family is from there and I think it gets in your blood when you are raised Southern.

Mona

What a lot of treasures to be discovered.
I wouldn't know what to do with a pig's ear either. Roast it maybe?

That looks like a great place to do some shopping. I like to check out new places but getting Wade to go along is not easy. I usually have to find someone else to go with me or go solo

Thanks for the good laugh Sandie! The pigs ear story is hilarious! I can't imagine getting a raw real pigs ear! Glad you threw it away as I probably would have too. Not sure if I would had been able to even look at it! Looks like a fun day!

PS - Had to chuckle at the pix of your daughter and gs on their phones. Unfortunately, that's sooo me.

I love going to places like this. So many interesting foods. I love the movie on the wall. I think I would order goat just to see what it tasted like.

That's funny! Always ask if the piggy's ear has been dried.

This looks like a really fun place to spend a day. I love to explore and try new things. Maybe a little Fufu and okra soup?
