A story of a miracle.

About 8 years Einstein was attacked by the German Shepard.  The German Shepard bit him and  his eye popped out and the doctor had to remove it.  Einstein is 15 now.

I want to tell you a story. It happened yesterday.  Think about the difference  a few short hours can make.

Plus you won't know whether to laugh or cry.  My sister has two chihuahuas (?).  One is totally blind from old age and in the other one - Einstein - well you read above how he lost one eye and he is partially blind in the other eye.  They never really leave home.  Well, by accident someone left the door open.

My sister was already at work when her husband called and told her that Einstein was missing!  They have twins and he was still home.  He told her he was going to put the twins in the stroller and go out looking for Einstein.  She asked to leave work and headed home.  I guess it was around 2:30pm.

As her husband was walking  he asked anyone outside if they had seen a dog.  One couple told them to look down a block where there were three firetrucks and a crane - they were called there for some emergency about a dog.  He looks up and sees all these red lights - blue lights - a crowd was gathering.  He walks the twins over there - and sure enough it was all over Einstein.

Now the poor dog - had crossed the street and was hit by a car (who did not stop for him). Some people saw what happened and called 911.

This is the gutter after Einstein went in.  The blue plastic is gone.

My BIL calls my sister and tells her what happened.  Well she had to find someone to pick up her brother from school and heads to the scene.  Now when s gets there she suggested for him to take the twins home and they refused - this was their dog and they wanted to stay with him!

Her friend drops her brother off from school.  So now there is five of them waiting on the fate of the dog.  Now her husband was going to see if he could go down and get him, but the firemen said he could not do that.

They told my sister that the sewer had a pipe to the ocean - if he got in there - there would be no chance of saving him - he would be drowned and washed to sea.  The crane then lowered a fireman into the drain.  It was 9 feet deep!!!  So Einstein also fell 9 feet!   He gets the dog and brings it up.  No one knows if he's alive or not.

The fireman puts the dog - from the sewer - not knowing if he is dead or alive to my sister (still in work clothes).   And the amazing news is YES he is still alive!!!

Oh yes and animal control was there.  They told her that sometime within 4 days they would check on the dog and make sure he had been taken to the  vet - or she would get a $600 fine!  She told them she had him for 15 years of course she was going to bring him in that night.

This is him right after getting him out of the sewer and taken home.  He looks a little shaken.

They go home - check him out - change clothes and cleaned Einstein.  She thought she ought to take him with her brother while the kids stayed home with daddy!  NO WAY!  So they ALL went into the ER vet.  Believe it or not - Einstein was fine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  The vet said he would be stiff for a few days - lol, but he was okay.  Although they did find a heart murmur.  Hit by a car - thrown - goes down 9 feet into a sewer and was fine!    Of course it took forever and it was costly!!!

If all that isn't a miracle I don't know what it.

Okay they are on their way home.  And you'll NEVER ever guess what happened!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  (Answer below!!!!!!!)

Thursday's Humor:
Two  brooms were hanging in the closet and after  a while they got to know each other so well, they decided to get married.

One broom  was, of course, the bride broom, the  other the groom broom.

The bride broom  looked very beautiful in her white  dress. The groom broom was handsome and  suave in his tuxedo. The wedding was lovely.

After the wedding, at the wedding  dinner, the bride-broom  leaned over and said to the groom-broom,' I  think I am going to have a little whisk broom! '

' IMPOSSIBLE ! ' said the groom broom.
Are  you ready for this?
Brace yourself; this is  going to hurt !  ! !  ! !   !

' WE  HAVEN ' T EVEN SWEPT  TOGETHER ! '
Now for something to think about.

A lot of hurting people out there I know and I thought this was pretty.

ANSWER!  They were driving home - and she heard from behind a huge truck squealing on it's breaks.  No, it did not hit her.  It hit the car behind her and that car hit her!

She actually told the car behind her not to worry about it - she drives a big car and there was not much damage.  She gives them her number if they need anything.

Well after all that - she was just thankful to get home with everyone alive.  See how you look at things is important!  Look at all what happened in one short day.

Now when she told me this yesterday - we were laughing and hooting and hollering. Not about Einstein, but about all that happened to her in one day. You have to admit it was funny or you would cry.  Only my sis can get into this much trouble (she takes after her big sis - I taught her well).  Lol - really she is a great sister and I'm blessed to have her even though she lives on the opposite coast.  :(

Oh wow...just wow! I'm glad that Einstein is okay. What a nightmare! Strikes me funny that animal control would threaten a fine.

Then..to have her car bumped into? WOW!

What an amazing story about Einstein..
Its more like the story of a cat , that has 9 lives!
He was very lucky.
Well done the firemen.!
Unbelievable, that your poor sister gets hit in the back of the car on their way home.. this reads like a storybook.
I am glad that no one was hurt Sandie.
Rather strange of the animal people to tell her she would get a fine.!!
thanks for sharing..
I have a half blind rescue dog.. and there is a one eyed guard dog in the family.
say hello to Einstein..

Okay! I had to skip over everything to see the answer. This is such a wonderful story and I love the way all the family stuck together through it and, of course, the hero firemen (to which I am partial, of course). What an unbelievable day for your sister and yes, miracles, yes, yes, yes! Einstein is one tough doggie. Glad your sis has one tough car and she's okay!

Poor Einstein. Good thing some people saw what happened and called 911 or no one would have known he was down there. That's one very lucky dog.

My heart was in my throat while reading this story of Einstein! Poor little guy. I'm so glad he survived. I won't tell Bridger (my sweet GSD) about that other German Shepherd. He would be so embarrassed. :-(

The rest of the week can certainly only get better, huh!

That is the kind of day that makes us grateful for the "boring ones". I'm glad everything turned out okay.

Hi Sandie. I did smile about the tale of the two brooms! Well, what a miracle that was, indeed, about little Einstein. Bless! What a day your sister had. No wonder you had to laugh about it! Glad she wasn't hurt though when the car hit hers.

9 ft into a sewer? THAT POOR DOG. He must have been terrified. He got hit by a car and didn't get hurt? Now that is amazing.

I suppose there's a reason to be thankful for sewers.

I teared up as I read how Einstein survived. What a trooper he is to keep on going, and then your sis' car got hit on the way back, AMAZING! Her priorities are in the right place, and it is great she and Einstein are fine.

What a day of amazing events! I'm glad it turned out well all the way around. I was impressed that the fireman would decend 9 feet to look for a little dog that might have been washed out to the ocean. What a hero! And your 'broom' story is a delight...must show to hubby. Thanks for all the smiles!

Oh Sandie, this story is wonderful. I think Einstein has a little feline in him and has nine lives. You know at first I was outraged that animal control was there and said that about the vet and fine, but think how many people just dump or abandon their pets - I like to think they were on top of it and of course your sister was going to take him in. So glad everyone is okay. What a day! Ann

So happy everything turned out well!

Goodness...what a day for your sister and her family and of course sweet little Einstein.I hope he got a big chewy bone. Thankful no one was hurt in the fender bender. :-/

Oh my....poor Einstein! Are you sure he isn't a cat?? Nine lives and all?
Our little doggie (Bella) only has one eye as well....We sometimes have to be very patient with her because she only sees half of what most other dogs see. Especially when we are playing ball with her. she can't always see where the ball went, and therefore, it takes her extra time to find it.
so glad things ended up happy for your family...
Blessings.

I'm very thankful that the dog is okay. So amazing that one little dog could survive all that.

And I'm starting to wonder whether your sister has the worst luck ever, or the absolute best luck. lol

Your sister's day was unbelievable. It's a blessing all turned out well for all of them. You'd have to laugh or cry about situations like those. Better to laugh and just be thankful, I guess. After all that I hope she has a quiet normal day tomorrow.

Shame on the driver who hit Einstein and didn't stop to check!

Free dogs don't stay free very long do they Sandie? I am glad all is well now that it ended well.

Our old and blind Toto several years ago disappeared. Three days later she came back home, all muddy, with three other dogs bringing her. She lived a couple of more years still.

BTW, Adi had a heart murmer for many years. At first it was a two (2) which is the least a vet can hear and before she died it was a max of five (5). Her inefficient heart was finally her down fall.

Love and miss you, lady. My email has a virus, and I just abandonned it. I have been sick, no computer, have to borrow Mr.'s IPAD when he will let me, and we are up to our eyeballs in house repairs. Hope to get a computer when some of the house things quit being so costly.

Love you much...
