Monday Musings about barns . . .

HAPPY MONDAY!

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.  We did - we went to Ohio  visiting my son and his son - what was also nice was the drive was great because the weather cooperated.

We celebrated Thanksgiving and my grandson's birthday.  So everything worked out great - except I am behind on reading y'alls blogs and answering the comments - I felt that the little time there I'd spent it on the GS and not the computer.  So give me a little time to catch up!

If you knew my family and they are had to explain - you would understand why I do drive by photos of barns. We were going 80 mph - we always hurry up to sit!

I don't think you can tell it is a barn, but it is. The drive through Kentucky was chocked full of barns and farms.

However Chatty on the way there had her camera packed.  And guess what she did on the way home - she packed her camera!  I went to find it to no avail.

Hubs had his camera with a limited battery.  I am soooooooooo mad at myself.  I even found three barns with quilts on them - do you think I got any of them?  NO!

I tried to work on this photo to make the barn clearer, but . . .

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY!

I can see that they are barns but to get them clear it is hard. It is still pretty thought. You can always have it as a distance barn as I can see it as that.. I have a barn similar to yours but I still may enter to Barns when I run out of clear barns. As I have already put my barn in this morning.

Wow that is awful about your camera.

I'm glad you had a nice time with your family, Sandie. Happy birthday to your grandson!
I always forget to leave my camera out too when we're going somewhere. It's always packed away in the luggage. Grrrr...I feel your frustration!
Hope you have a great week!

I know how you feel! I so often neglect to take my camera along, or have it packed somewhere that it's not accessible! But I love barns too, and can't get enough of them.

Great quotation - and so true.

congrats to the winner! That was a good try with the picture of the barn, Sandie. It is hard if you are on a schedule of driving to stop for pictures and then not to have your camera close by. Glad you had a great trip and I do think it was wise to spend your time with GS rather than on the computer!

We love to find old barns to look at too....some are so unique!

Your Thanksgiving sounds like it was lovely. It went by as fast as you drove past the barns, it seems. Sometimes I would like to slow time down, just a little.

Great barns. I would love to see a barn with a quilt on it. We went west for the holiday to visit my daughter. all our driving was in the dark so I did not see any barns.

I am always guilty of getting home from Family events having never taken wnough photos:)
Love your thought of the day!

I love the barns with the quilt blocks painted on them! Last time I saw one, no camera in hand either! Glad you had a good visit and are home safe!

the photos...I am the worst at that too! over this Thanksgiving we watched home videso...and it was so much fun to see all the stuff we did, that I forgot about. Reminded me big time I have to start recording and taking more pictures...which of course, I didn't!!
LOVE the quote!

I know exactly how you feel about getting pictures. So many times my Hubs is driving and I see a picture I want. I aim and shoot as we are speeding by. LOL... they usuallly don't turn out. Even when Hubs tries to slow down.

Glad you had a GREAT Thanksgiving.

happy birthday to your Grandson, I never ever remember the camera, I don't take very god photos since I lost part of my vision and Garry never thinks of the camera,

Well, it's the thought that counts. :)

Sandie! hi! Man I would be saying, 'STOP THE CAR! It's for my blog!!" I only have to deal with that occasionally. We had a lovely Thanksgiving until 7:30 pm and then it turned into everyone leaving to get to the WALMART black friday on thursday night sale crap. sheesh. I don't know about all that. I understand the bargains, ...let's just do it more all on FRIDAY people.

I'm glad you had a nice trip! Love the blurriness of the barns - they go with the narrative so well. :)

Glad you had a good visit and good weather for traveling too! We had some snow showers on Saturday but we are up by the lake in northern Ohio. Still there wasn't any accumulation so everyone could travel safely then too. Hope your Monday is a great one. I'm attempting to clean up from the weekend here.

Life is fast-paced lots of the time. You did good though....I liked your barn pictures. Real life goes by so fast it is a blur in the memory oft times. Don't you think so?...I need to get outside. Its a sunny 43 degree day here and hubby just invited me to lunch. I didn't tell him I ate about 45 minutes ago. No reason to spoil his lunch...lol.

hahahaha, Chatty, I see we were at each other blog's at the same time.

thank you for your nice compliments and encouragements.

Hoping you had a wonderful time with your family. And a big Happy Birthday to GS!

There have been many times when I missed a great photo shoot! I have consoled myself by thinking that sometimes the best pictures are the ones we hold in our minds' eye!

SO glad to hear you had a wonderful time. Love seeing your barns. I have to do a post with some that I've taken over the years....one of these days. I know I've said that before but will put on my today list for this week.
I almost forgot my camera at my sisters on Thanksgiving, not that is had many pics from the day, but knew I deeded it...my safety blanket. Feel better when it's with me, yeh weird.
Have a great day!

Hi Sandie. Love one another - yes, it really is as simple as that! Love the quote at the beginning of your blog. Glad you were there for your grandson's birthday and, yes, you were right to keep off the computer and spend time with him! Pity about your camera and the barns! Never mind. Hugs.

Kim said...

I'm a huury up and wait kind of gal too. I don't know why but I would rather rush to get there even though I know I'm early.

Nonnie said...

I think it was a wise decision to spend time with the GS. Seems like the "see how fast we can get there" is just a guy thing, although Dear Heart allows for as many pit stops as required. We had to make 4 stops for Trudy, but she only sees the fun and adventure when we stop and not a call to duty!
I've given up the camera and just use iphone. Your barn pics are still good. I've never seen a barn with quilts.
Glad you got to be with your son and grandson.

Glad you had a nice Thanksgiving, Sandie. I have learned to be a great 'drive by' shooter (with my camera of course) when we are traveling. Luckily though, hubby doesn't drive THAT fast... He is a follow-the-speed-limit (or less) type of person. It also helps with the good gas mileage in our Prius....

Hugs,
Betsy

I enlarged the photo and could see the barn. Your family sounds like mine, always in a hurry to get there and then wait.

A belated Happy Birthday to your grandson. Love that thought for the day!

Barn blurs as you buzz by! I had the same experience with fall leaves this year. Love those barns with quilt squares but never thought to snap a photo of one. Hmmmmm.

Good entry, hope you have a great week and very happy for you and the safe trip. You had another great time of making memories, always a plus.
Welcome back.

Girl, I make sure to have my camera on the floorboard, right beneath my feet, on the RARE occasion I'm out. Try it, it doesn't take up much room! (but only on the passenger side)

I always seem to not have my camera at exactly the times I wish I had it. How frustrating.

Happy to hear you had a nice holiday!

Glad to hear you had a good time. Well, you can see that they are barns..and it's interesting to see those pass through pictures. A shame with your camera though, hope you found it in the end.

You may have been flying but you did good at snapping the barn pictures.
Take your time catching up, we'll all be here .

I spy the first barn and the second was less difficult to see. The best part was the trip to be with family and the sights along the way just some extra spice. Glad you had a wonderful time.

I tried to get my daughter to take a photo of an unusual car as we driving along to her school, and the results were completely blurred. I keep one camera in the house and one in the car so in theory I have a camera with me at all times. But I still forget to use it.

Liz Mays said...

Nobody wants to let you stop and take barn pics, huh? Even with a blur, they're cool though.

Hootin Anni said...

I love it....are you kidding me? That image of the barn makes me think of Ichabod Crane?!!! Why I don't know, but it's mysterious as the Covered Bridge in Sleepy Hollow. Okay, call me weird.

Beth said...

I never seem to have my camera with me at just the right time!

I am glad you had a wonderful time with family!

Debbie said...

I can so relate to trying to take a picture at 80 mph. That's the man of this house's favorite speed too.

I hope you unearthed that camera when you finally got home, even thought it was too late for barn captures.

And I'm SO GLAD you had fun with your grandson instead of gabby about in blogville!

Oh! I LOVE love LOVE barns...love 'em. And, I do exactly what you did...I take photos of them 'on the fly' 'cause that's about all the time I have to get shots of them!
Spending time with your Grandson was THE best time spent...ever. I hope you enjoyed and relished every moment of it. I'm sure you did.
Sending you smiles and hugs,
