Saturday Service to you

I know some of you own GUNS but this is something to think about...

If you don't have a gun, here's a more humane way to wreck someone's evil plans for you. Did you know this? I didn't. I never really thought of it before. I guess I can get rid of the baseball bat.

Wasp Spray - A friend who is a receptionist in a church in a high risk area was concerned about someone coming into the office on Monday to rob them when they were counting the collection. She asked the local police department about using pepper spray and they recommended to her that she get a can of wasp spray instead.

The wasp spray, they told her, can shoot up to twenty feet away and is a lot more accurate, while with the pepper spray, they have to get too close to you and could overpower you. The wasp spray temporarily blinds an attacker until they get to the hospital for an antidote. She keeps a can on her desk in the office and it doesn't attract attention from people like a can of pepper spray would. She also keeps one nearby at home for home protection. Thought this was interesting and might be of use.

On the heels of a break in and beating that left an elderly woman in Toledo dead, self defense experts have a tip that could save your life.

Val Glinka teaches self-defense to students at Sylvania Southview High School For decades, he's suggested putting a can of wasp and hornet spray near your door or bed.

Glinka says, "This is better than anything I can teach them."

Glinka considers it inexpensive, easy to find, and more effective than mace or pepper spray. The cans typically shoot 20 to 30 feet; so if someone tries to break into your home, Glinka says "spray the culprit in the eyes". It's a tip he's given to students for decades.

It's also one he wants everyone to hear If you're looking for protection, Glinka says look to the spray. "That's going to give you a chance to call the police; maybe get out." Maybe even save a life.

Please share this with all the people who are precious to your life

Did you also know that wasp spray will kill a snake? And a mouse! It will! Good to know, huh? It will also kill a wasp!!!

Thank you Monica

Thank you Sharon

Love this Japanese Doctor!

Q: Doctor, I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life. Is this true?
A: Heart only good for so many beats, and that it... Don't waste on exercise. Everything wear out eventually. Speeding up heart not make you live longer; it like saying you extend life of car by driving faster. Want to live longer? Take nap.

Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?
A: Oh no. Wine made from fruit. Fruit very good. Brandy distilled wine, that mean they take water out of fruity bit so you get even more of goodness that way. Beer also made of grain. Grain good too. Bottom up!

Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio?
A: Well, if you have body and you have fat, your ratio one to one. If you have two body, your ratio two to one.

Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program?
A: Can't think of one, sorry. My philosophy: No pain...good!

Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you?
A: YOU NOT LISTENING! Food fried in vegetable oil. How getting more vegetable be bad?

Q : Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the middle?
A: Oh no! When you exercise muscle, it get bigger. You should only be doing sit-up if you want bigger stomach.

Q: Is chocolate bad for me?
A: You crazy?!? HEL-LO-O!! Cocoa bean! Another vegetable! It best feel-good food around!

Q: Is swimming good for your figure?
A: If swimming good for figure, explain whale to me.

Q: Is getting in shape important for my lifestyle?
A: Hey! 'Round' is shape!

Well... I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food and diets.

And remember:
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!"

Good Morning! Thanks for starting my day off with giggles!

I've always thought I'd use anything I could spray...hairspray, Pam, anything aersol to ward off an intruder. We women always have to be thinking!

Buttercup said...

I'm with Jill. Any of the cleaning sprays could get someone off guard. It's sad to have to think this way, but a little can of hair spray could be a great defense. Enjoy your Saturday!

... even a snake? This reminded me of the time (handyman) hubby encountered 2 baby rattlers while working at a client's home and without thinking, just emptied an aerosol can of oven cleaner on those suckers. Goodbye snakes. (Me, I'd have probably had a coronary on the spot - lol.)

Love that final cartoon. So true!

DH went to Bass pro shop and bought me a can of bear spray to ward off any intruders. Love knowing about wasp spray and snakes 'cause we've had a few around here. Thanks. And thanks for the smiles and the snowmen yesterday. :-)

I'm very anti guns so the wasp spray sounds excellent to me. Thank you.

The doctor made me laugh and he does have some good points. I've seen many of my friends taking up sport to keep fit and ending with bad injuries and health issues!

You never disappoint, my friend! Thank you for another wonderful post!

I like the idea of the wasp spray; I think its something I could manage to do if faced in such a situation. Lets hope none of us are faced in situations like that!

Maxine is hilarious!

I loved the lady in the wheelchair what she saw in the shadow.

may it be a good day Sandie!

Thanks for the FYI. I have used Wasp Spray years ago for Wasp nests. That can sprays quite a distance.

I did not know that it could kill a snake.

Thanks for the good info. They recommend that you bring wasp spray when you hike as well. While I would hate to spray a wild animal, should a mountain lion or a bear decide to attack, I guess it would be a good thing to have.

My Mom lives alone and has several small pistols in drawers. She and Dad would go to the rifle/shooting range to shoot- BUT, she also has a can of wasp spray next to her chair in the TV room and a can next to her bed! I have a can next to my bed!! They are cheap at Home Depot!!

I've read about the wasp spray before but didn't know it could kill a snake. I would want to make sure I wasn't too close. Don't give up the baseball bat though. It is good to break out a window in case of fire,

Wasp spray Does spray a long way...we had to use some to get to the peak of the cabin once...so, yes, it reaches distance More than 30 ft.

Great idea with the hornet spray. My problem is.... if someone would break in and I was half asleep, I would probably point the wrong end at myself!!

Marie said...

I have heard about the wasp spray. I'll buy an extra can or two to place around the house. :) I hope people only kill poisonous snakes. Did you know that having female Black Racers in your yard will keep the poisonous snakes away? We have seen a few around here and we leave them alone. :)
Happy weekend Sandie!

I have read about the hornet spray before, and I keep forgetting to send a big old can to my daughter. I think it would be a great idea for her.

I need one here, too. We're not gun owners (Not because we have a problem with guns. We just have never gotten around to owning one.)

I really enjoyed this! That Japanese doctor is a hoot! I like his philosophy! Do you think he might accompany me on my next check-up??

And the advice on wasp spray is great. Wish I had had it when I actually got stung by a wasp (are hornets wasps??). Question - will wasp spray work on annoying people, too??

I loved the last cartoon - the old lady with the ballerina. I always hope that my heart will stay young...
