{$50 Target Gift-Card GIVEAWAY} and Wednesday's Hodgepodge

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 136

(The giveaway is below).

Here are the questions for this week's Wednesday Hodgepodge.  Answer on your own blog, then hop back here tomorrow to add your link to the party. The more the merrier...click here.

1. The first week of August is National Simplify Your Life Week...what's one thing you could do this week to qualify as a participant?

This summer we have been making our home and processions lighter.  I think while it wasn't simple to do - the more things you get rid of and the less you have - makes your life much simpler.

2. It's also National Peach Month...peach pie, peach cobbler, or please pour me a Bellini?  What's your peach pleasure?
Well I live in Georgia THE PEACH STATE -  So all of the above - Bellini's, peach oie, peach cobbler, peaches - anything peach - I LOVE!
3. Eleanor Roosevelt once wrote, "Do one thing every day that scares you." Agree or disagree...explain.

I have that quote right on my desk,  So you know it has to mean something to me.  I totally agree.  And I try to live it every day.  Makes you strong!

4. What's your favorite household chore?  Yes-you have to name one.
Laundry - love the smell and feel of it.  Good thing too -because I have a lot of it.
5. Fodors recently listed (what they've dubbed) the ten most beautiful sunset spots in America. Click here to read more and see the pretty pictures, but this is their list:

Butterfly Beach in Santa Monica CA, Mount Haleakala in Maui HI, Old Fort Marcy Park in Santa Fe NM, Laguna Beach CA, Hopi Point in Grand Canyon AZ, Four Seasons in Miami FL, Santa Monica Pier in Santa Monica CA, Gay Head in Martha's Vineyard MA, Ensign Peak in Salt Lake City UT, and Mallory Square in Key West Florida.

Have you seen the sun set from any of these spots?  If you could choose to watch the sun set this weekend from one spot on the Fodors List, which would you choose?  Where was the prettiest sunset you've ever seen?
I have never seen the sunset from any of those places.  If I could I would pick Butterfly Beach in Santa Monica because I could see my sister as well. Maybe I did when I was there before and just forgot to notice- I wouldn't forget now!
Now the most beautiful sun - I have ever seen was when I was in Alaska - it was summer and I don't know if it ever set.  I do know at certain times of year the  northern lights are there and it is spectacular.  I'm surprised it's not on his list.
6. What's your favorite or most used app?  If you don't use apps how about your favorite or most visited website?

Pinterest and Facebook!
7. We've recently passed the halfway mark for 2013...write a seven word sentence that sums up your year thus far.
Time for me is moving too fast!

8.  Insert your own random thought here.
My grandson starts school on Monday.  It's a private school with a hard curriculum and he has ADHD.  We just feel that it is the best place for him and so does he, but he has to work very hard.  Last year was rough.  I would love if everyone sent up a quick prayer for him. THANKS!

NOW THE GIVEAWAY!

Renae of Simple Sequins and I are sponsoring this Giveaway to Target.

my favorite chore is mopping the floor, i love to see the dirt disappear and the floor be spotless. it doesn't last long with 8 paws and 4 feet.
i don't use apps since i have no phone or tablet to use them on. i do have one on my PC and laptop for my kindle to be read on each one.

Good answers, I prefer to read yours, but Sunsets are special especially the ones while at sea or in the desert. Love the ones at Mallory Square in Key West.

I have said a prayer for your grandson - we grandmas are good at that!
Your giveaway sounds wonderful, so I'll have to try to figure out how to enter!
Those sunsets - just as I was thinking that with all those US sites I wouldn't have been to one, I got to Key West - and yes, I have seen that beautiful sunset, right there! Of course, I'd like to suggest that everyone come up to Tofino to see the sun drop into the Pacific from the bluffs over the beach.

Sandie...that you for the giveaway! Loved your responses. Peach is my FAV fruit...lately I have been enjoying two a day, I wash and eat love the juicy juicy ones. Of course I enjoy a good cobbler too!

Love to you!

Sending prayers for your grandson.

Regarding the beginning of your post,
3. Eleanor Roosevelt once wrote, "Do one thing every day that scares you." Agree or disagree...explain.

I disagree, why would I want to do something to scare me. Just watching the News everynight scares me! I'd rather do something that will may me happy instead.

Prayers for your Grandson!!!
Did you know the Dr that labeled ADHD and illness has now backtracked and now says it's not....Seems No one knows nothing about anything these days!

i am proud of your grandson and all of you for sticking with the school and all of the homework that goes with it. really glad you involved him in the decision making.

I couldn't agree more with you on your answer to number one. I wish I could push myself harder to get to that place. I know it overwhelms me yet I know how awesome it feels to get rid of the burden of stuff! You could see me too when your in Santa Monica :) Sending prayers your way.

Well, I definitely need to simplify or at least organize my life! As for housework, I can't really say I enjoy any of it very much--which probably explains my need to simplify! I do try to do things that scare me--but not on a daily basis. The only one of those places I've been to is Miami and even though we went on a boat ride one evening, I don't remember seeing a sunset! And I love the quote about beginnings!

Ginny Hartzler said...

I totally agree with numbers 6 and 7! So the last school did not work out, I am sorry! Did you know that it is actually California that grows the most peaches? Who knew? My favorite household chore would be cleaning out and straitening up cabinets and drawers.

I love that last photo of the row boat. It is so peaceful. Praying that your grandson transitions without problem.

Jo-Anne's Ramblings said...

What can I say that hasn't already been said........well I can't really think of anything but then I am all stuffed up in the head again and I though I was getting better.......I don't if I could simplify my life since it is a pretty simple life as it is. I can tell you that there is now bloody way I want to do something each day that scares me since I am a big baby........lol

Lynn said...

Another great giveaway :) Lip Smackers used to make a peach lip gloss that I LOVED. Haven't found it in years. Going to have to do a Google search to see if they even make it anymore.

Susan said...

Loved reading your answers, as always, Sandie.

GS will be okay. He's got a lot of backers behind him. Don't worry. It might be his best year yet!

I think the most splendorous sunsets I've ever seen were in Arizona. Nothing has matched their beauty since.

Take care. Susan

Your GS will do just great. I just know it! I was one of the ones who prayed him through last year's transition and will join you again this year.

Just remember what a wise man once said to me about this age with boys:
They are just bumpy and can't help it. It doesn't last forever.

The first week of August is to simplify our life? I will need at least the whole month of august and part of september to do that in. :)

I am trying to get rid of the junk in my house, though. Little by little.
