Wednesdays Hodgepodge

Target does this every year. They give out a million dollars. To schools. All you have to do it vote for them. Every vote is $1 and when they get to $25 the schools get a check.

Would you go here and vote for my grandson's school if you don't have another one to vote for?

The name of the school is Shiloh Hills Christian School.

THANK YOU!    CHECK THE BOTTOM OF THE POST FOR A GIFT FOR YOU!

Join us on Wednesday Hodgepodge - with Joyce - From the Other Side of the Pond......

1. When did you last sing happy birthday to someone? When were you last sung to? Does that embarrass you or do you enjoy being the center of attention on your special day?

I sang happy birthday to my sister on Sunday - it was her 36th birthday!  I don't like to be the center of attention, but I do know people like to do things for you so I go with it. Let's see the last time I was sung to must have been at my birthday last year - turned 60!

2.  Name a famous or 'infamous' person (living or deceased) who shares your birth day and month. Is that someone you'd like to meet in person if it were possible?

That is easy - Elizabeth Taylor.  I would like to have met her.  In a way I even think I understand her - lol.

3. Someone hands you a box tied up in a lovely bow...what are you hoping to find inside?

Well honestly - now - my first thought is money.  Sad, but true.

4. What can you guarantee about yourself?

I try to be honest and when I can't be for some reason it drives me nuts!

5. Talking art and beautiful cities here...'The Last Supper' in the Santa Maria della Grazie Abbey in Milan Italy or 'The Mona Lisa' in The Louvre,Paris...which would you most like to see up close and in person?  Why?

I have to say I have seen both.  And I loved the Mona Lisa.  But the Last Supper - meant more to me - because of it's meaning to me.  They were both awesome.

6. Your favorite dessert?

Chocolate cake with a nice rich, but not too sweet icing.

7. This coming weekend marks the official start of autumn (in the Northern hemisphere)...what is something you do to get ready for fall? What is one thing you're looking forward to on your fall calendar? Spring or fall-which do you prefer?

FALL!!!!!!!!!!  Then spring, winter, summer - weird right?  I don't like the heat too much, but this year has been great.  The a/c bill is sky high here in GA.  It was $475 last month and I don't think it got over 90 degrees which is great here.

We always get the house winterized I guess - the a/c units off and the heaters on. Turn off the sprinklers.  Fertilize things like that.  Fall brings one of my favorite things - festivals and apples in the north GA mountains - I love that - I feel really alive.

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

I'm doing much better.  My leg seems to be getting a little less red and I'm thrilled about that.  Thank you for all your caring and prayers. I found out it can spread all over, so I'm trying to remember to take it easy and keep my leg u!  I want it to go away!   Apparently the small blood vessels are breaking in my leg.  It is not supposed to be life threatening.   I also had the ultra sound on Monday (even though there was no swelling) - and I have no clot to which I am happy about that too.  I appreciate it.  I am still amazed at how fast something can happen.

THE LAUGH:
The funny thing is that my grandson did do this at my son's wedding - it wasn't too funny then - but it is now.

THE LIFT:  Isn't it nice to know?

LOVE CHATTY

I will go there and vote for your grandson's school :) and happy belated birthday to your sister!

I love fall too Sandie. I blogged about it today!

Wishing you a wonderful Wednesday :)

Great answers, as always Sandie.

You can have my share of chocolate cake. Oh, I like chocolate, but I do not care that much for cake.

Hope your leg continues to improve. And happy to hear there is no clotting. That can be scary.

Headed to go and vote. I hope they win! So glad your legs are doing better- hopefully this won't bother you any more.

Voted for your grandson's school! Hope it works out well for them. :)

Thanks so much for the intro to Joyce, and as always, for making me smile.

Happy Wednesday!

I voted for the school! I am so glad your leg is better! Everyone is getting clots, two of my friends. And once yo get them they take almost a year to get rid of. My friend's clots went to their lungs and they are lucky to be alive. I want a piece of that chocolate cake with you, I think it would heal all our ills!

Cheri said...

I love to read what you write to the questions...I get a little more insight about you, Sandie.

Nonnie said...

I am so glad your leg is better and there is no clotting. Keep on taking care of yourself.
Thanks for the lift.
Oh man, the cake. Tell your grandson he isn't alone. When we went to my nephew's graduation from West Point, I was so embarrassed because my DH took it on himself to cut the beautiful cake decorated with their emblem, their motto, etc. He did get away with it ... unfortunately, when it comes to dessert, he is always the first one ready for it.

You've been to Milan??? Do tell, was it gorgeous?!

I want to go. I want to go to about a million places in Italy (I've only been to Rome).

LOL at the dog w/the cake. That's a gorgeous dog too, but oh my. That makes Disco's antics look perfectly sweet and innocent (little cute, Disco).

Today's my hubby's birthday, we sang to him at dinner out last night. :)

Cheryl @ TFD said...

I'll go vote! I'll take devil's food, no icing, with a dollop of whipped cream on top. Yum, yum! So glad to hear your leg is better! Yay!!

MadSnapper said...

I voted. money is my favorite gift, and the only gift I want. I like to buy my own stuf.
i last sang happy birthday to my friend on the web cam to the laptop, sent her the movie to listen to. it was not pretty.
i don't mind when i am in public and someone sings to me, but have only had that happen once.

So glad your leg is doing better. I hope it goes away soon!

I voted for your grandson's school. Pretty easy to do too.

I'm so happy you went to the ultra sounds appointment. Now you know you don't have a clot. Good to know. Now try to rest and get better.

The dog and the wedding cake had me laughing out loud. Those babies are very expensive too.

Have a terrific day honey. Love you back. Scritches to Disco. ☺

So glad your leg is doing better... keep doing what they say! ;) I want to see both the Last Supper and the Mona Lisa. Not sure I ever will, but I want to. blessings ~ tanna

I'm so thankful you are better! I always love the full moons as I think about all my family and friends no matter how far apart, we all see the same moon and that makes us a little closer. Hope you have a wonderful Wednesday

I want to find money in the box too. If not, there better be chocolate. You can't go wrong with money or chocolate tied up in a pretty box :)

I voted! Best of luck to the school. So happy to hear there is no clot. Try to take it easy!

YAY - Wednesday.

1. I can't remember the last time I sang it, or was sung to. But, I really LOVE being the center of attention on my birthday. I have actually requested that my family tell the server in a restaurant when I'm taken out for birthday dinner. They don't - THEY'RE TOO EMBARRASSED! :-)

2. Googled it. Turns out there's a fair amount of people born on my birthday. I'll mention Jay Leno and Oscar Schindler.

3. A puppy.

4. That no matter what I do, I will really, really try.

5. "The Last Supper." Same as you, because of its meaning.

6. Something at 31 flavors called a Banana Royale. A scoop of rocky road, a scoop of chocolate mint, hot fudge, nuts, and a banana sliced up. It's like 10,000 calories.

7. Um, maybe pull out the sweaters and jackets? I prefer spring. I like the *newness* of everything after the snowy and cold winter.

8. Glad to see you have a "leg up" on your situation.

sorry.

xo

I'm so glad to read the update on your leg...and that you are doing better. I'm very happy to know that there is not clot. Prayers continue for you.
Thank you for the Kohl's savings coupon. I love to shop at Kohls.
Hugs to you,

i'm glad your leg is getting better and that there's no clot, but the thought of it spreading everywhere would concern me! eek!

Glad to hear your leg is better. I always told my children the things that look bad now can be funny when looking back later.

Helen said...

Oh, no I didn't mean about your leg. I was talking about the dog eating the cake.

Hi There, I always enjoy answer the questions... So here goes:

1. I sang to my oldest son on July 18 on the phone... He turned 50.

2. My cousin and I share a birthday --but she is YOUNGER (who isn't????? ha)

3. Oh that is easy: an iPhone... We are talking about getting one --but it's only in the talking stages.. We have not made the move to a SMART phone.

4. I will love George 'til the day I die --and will do everything I can to make him happy, healthy and let him know how much I adore him...

5. The Last Supper for sure

6. FATTENING Peanut Butter Pie my mother-in-law used to make for me before she died... Haven't had any since... Sigh!

7. Got the fireplace/chimney cleaned and am looking forward to some fires this Fall/Winter.

Hugs,
Betsy

Praying your medical issues become non-issues soon.
So I had to look up Harvest Moon to see why it is special. It's not special :( It's just the full moon closest to the autumnal equinox. How unromantic. But tomorrow is also Talk Like a Pirate Day.

Jo-Anne's Ramblings said...

I went and voted for your grandson's school again, it was my niece's birthday on Sunday so that was the last time I sang happy birthday. I love a nice slice of chocolate cake too. Good to hear the leg is healing and you have not had clotting.

Getting to know you, getting to know all about you!

How lucky you were to go to Europe, Sandie. I'd love to go to several countries there.

Enjoyed reading your answers, as always.

Hope you have a super Thursday. Susan

Fun answers, Sandie. Happy Birthday to your sister- that is quite an age spread! Loving Fall and finally getting in the mood for it. Glad your leg is improving, too.

You said exactly how I feel:

4. What can you guarantee about yourself?

I try to be honest and when I can't be for some reason it drives me nuts!

Now, that I know we agree there, I must say that is a great pick for the LIFT! SWEET.
Always a good visit here at Chatty's corner. Love from NC

My bro-in-law met Elizabeth Taylor in person at a bar in a fancy restaurant when she came to Illinois and he said she was beautiful. I always liked her feminine voice. Hope your leg heals quickly.

I will go vote! I really love a rich and creamy chocolate cake on occasion. I love to talk to my friends who still live in GA and hear them excited about the drop in temperature. I remember those exciting days, too! It is already getting chilly here. I wear a sweater almost every morning! So glad your leg is healing. Oh, and I am so in awe that you've seen both paintings! Wow!!

I am glad you're feeling better. I've had to stay off my feet all week as a result of a reaction to Cipro. Apparently a side effect can be tendon strain or even rupture. I went to the doc before mine ruptured, and he told me to stay off it, which has helped. I'm still taking it easy, but its not hurting anymore.

Lynn said...

Thanks for the reminder of the Harvest Moon - I'll have to go out and look at it tonight.

Dee said...

I share your same answer with number three...money for sure...or a drawing from one of the grands. I think it is awesome that you got to see The Last Supper and the Mona Lisa....so cool.

I am glad your leg is looking better. I am so ready for fall. I closed the pool and am canning like crazy. Now only if the bees would leave me alone long enough to pick all the grapes and apples in peace I would be a happy grandma.
