How can one of the best days be one of the worst?

The best

My 16 year old computer is dead.
This sounds awful, but it meant a lot to me.
I have lost  EVERYTHING.
I do have items backed up and when I get a new one
$$$
I will get a lot of my items back.

However, my dear hubs originally put me on Outlook and so everything
and I mean everything is there.
And guess what!!!!!

Apparently Outlook can't be backed up.

I AM SO INCREDIBLY SAD.

Please bare with me about checking your blog....I will.
I tried to leave a comment by iphone and it did not show up on your blog.
I tried by an ipad and the same thing.
I am working on it.
Now I am on someone else's computer - I am on borrowed time - lol

Okay for some great news which far out weights the bad....
My grandson made a commitment to Jesus Christ.
His own choice at a baptist church which believes in dunking.

My understanding is that water baptism is a baptism of repentance and a shedding of sin and self.  In others words a start - a beginning.   I don't think it’s mandatory to be water dunked to be saved, but is important beginning.  Methodists sprinkle as babies and Baptists sprinkle as an adult when they can make their own decision.  Either way I’m over joyed that God has been working in Andy and he took this step on his own.

Next wonderful thing is that Andy turned 18!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  He finally made it to the magical age.  He thinks now he is grown up and has no rules.  I think that is the exact opposite - it is the beginning of being responsible and that is full of rules.

Unfortunately not being on my computer :(  I have no birthday pictures to show you.  We took him to the Hard Rock Cafe for his birthday the night before and the night of his birthday he had about 20 friends meet him at Volcano and they had a party.

DISCO is quite tired of all the excitement here as we also have graduation in four weeks - a party for his friends - a luncheon for family - and so forth.
He wants to sleep - sleep now Disco - we have only just begun.

A thought of love:

A JOKE:  I am still on the iphone bandwagon - worst invention ever.

Love, Chatty

How sad your computer died. It's not a good thing ever. Even worse you have no back up. Good news on your grandson's baptism. Such a great day to celebrate ! I do think it is a new beginning. And even though he is now 18, I agree it brings new responsibilities too.

Your computer lasted 16 years and that is a good long life for an electronic. However, it might be expected, we are never ready to let go. Thankfully, we have backup. I do most things on my iPad as it is so convenient and you should have no trouble commenting on it. That is what I am doing now. Go through Google.

A new computer may very well mean that your commenting capabilities will change. Yahoo! Maybe more blogs will open up for you to comment on. There may be a silver lining!! Love, Andrea xoxo

Oh no, sorry you lost your computer files! Hope you get a new computer soon.
And congratulations to Andy! Both for his baptism and becoming an adult!

Oh I am so sorry about your computer! I just had to get a new one but I had a chance to backup the pictures I wanted, etc. Have you checked with any services to see if they can restore anything? Don't give up until you turn over every last stone (literally).

Happy belated birthday to your grandson! I remember when my daughter turned 18 she came into our room and said "Now I can do what I want and you can't stop me." Not realizing of course that there were house rules if she still wanted to live with us.

It sounds like he had a great birthday celebration though!

That is great about his baptism. Jesus got dunked when he got baptized. I had trouble a long time about thinking I should get baptized since I was baptized as a baby 3 weeks old. I did get baptized since it is a public decoration of your faith (it doesn't have anything to do with whether you are saved or not) and did get dunked when I was over 40 years old.

Disco's life will be changing too now that grandson will be graduating and moving on to the next steps of his life.

We went to church Sunday and they spoke about baptism. I was disappointed that we didn't get a palm Sunday sermon. It was interesting that this church baptizes anytime and immediately and immersing only. I am happy for your grandson, that was a big step.

So sorry to hear about your computer. I'm not sure if I have ever heard of anyone using the same computer that long... Were you able to do all of the updates all through the years, and stay up with all of the changes? Usually, once a computer gets a certain age, they won't update it any longer. We get new computers about every 5 years. Yes--it does cost money --but it's just THAT important to us. AND--we'll give up many other things in our budget before staying updated on the computers. Hope you can figure out how to start over now.... AND I hope you get all of your pictures and important stuff back.... I'm sad for you.

Great news about Andy. Congrats to him --and his upcoming graduation. What is he going to do next year?

Hugs to you, my Friend.
Betsy

A 16-y/o computer sounds amazing! But WHAT a gut-wrenching loss, I know. Even in the face of Andy's news. Growing up in the Lutheran church, I was baptized as an infant; confirmed (reaffirmed) at about 14. I think everyone has to follow his/her heart. Do you remember when LBJ's daughter Lucy converted to Catholicism before her marriage and 'had' to be baptized again? I thought my dad would have a stroke - LOL!

I empathize with you on your old computer. That's not a good feeling at all, particularly when cherished photographs are lost. All the best to your grandson! May he be enveloped in blessings.

Sandie, that ape picture cracks me up. I already sent it to my kids haha. It's so nice that your grandson wants to get closer to Jesus. Now, is this dunking in water a Baptism in his church? So sorry to hear you lost everything on your computer. I hope some of it at least recovers for you. Happy Birthday to your dear Andy.

Have a terrific week, Sandie.

love, ~Sheri

With the world technically savvy these days, I hope you are able to get your files back and in order again. I lost my photos for a while but finally found and backed them up. I was so relieved. Eeyore says it right. You are supported and cared about.......congrats to Andy as he graduates HS, moves on with new ventures and especially for his commitment to his Savior.
love n' hugs from up north to your family and sweet Disco.

Sandie, I am so very sorry about your computer news and pray you get your stuff back. I totally understand. But oh my goodness, what wonderful news about your grandson! I love it! God bless him. I remember turning 18 and thinking I had arrived and could do whatever I wanted! Ha! He will get it. Love the pic of Disco. Senior year is so incredibly busy and along with birthday celebration and spring break! Oh my. I hope you get everything worked out soon. You will be so proud when he graduates, but the baptism is the one that would make my heart thump and eyes teary.

ha ha ha ha ha I identify most with that fourth ape. Funny. I am devastated, too, to hear of the computer crash. But I have to believe that everything happens for a purpose and this means you will LOVE your
new (in the future) computer more than ever!
So excited for Andy. What a wonderful and exciting time it is for him. He will be fine, Sandie. He's been surrounded and immersed in love his entire life on earth to date. Take care of you, too, these busy days. You know how easy it is for us to do things for everyone else and forget ourselves! ha haha Love, Susan

Computers are such a pain...can't live with them...can't live without them.
I sure hope you can recover some of your treasures.
Good for Andy making his own decision to be baptized . Now onward to the "adult world" of being responsible for one's self and actions...It's a sure wake up call for some.

Sorry about your computer issues.
I'm so happy he has given his life to God. I did that about 30 years ago even though I was baptized as a baby.
Think again Andy....you live in your grandmother's house there are going to be rules!!

God bless Andy. It is so important for a young person to get well grounded in the historicity and truth of the Church. There's so much cynicism in the world today. We need to know what we believe and be able to defend it. Jesus reigns! I am so sorry to hear about your computer! Mine has been giving indications that it might be on its last legs. I have Carbonite backing it up, so hopefully when it does I'll get everything back. Good luck with the new computer. Learning all the differences is a pain, but you'll do it. xoxo. Judy
