MOTHER TERESA

CORRIE TEN BOOM
Cornelia Arnolda Johanna "Corrie" ten Boom was a Dutch Christian watchmaker and later a writer who worked with her father, Casper ten Boom, her sister Betsie ten Boom and other family members to help many Jews escape the Nazis from the Holocaust during World War II by hiding them in her home.
HELEN KELLER
Helen Adams Keller was an American author, political activist, and lecturer. She was the first deaf-blind person to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree.
ELEANOR ROOSEVELT
Anna Eleanor Roosevelt was an American political figure, diplomat and activist. She served as the First Lady of the United States from March 4, 1933, to April 12, 1945, during her husband President Franklin D. Roosevelt's four terms in office, making her the longest-serving First Lady of the United States.

A great post for Memorial Day. So many strong women as role models.
I like your choice of women to honor. They are all my favorites. But for today we must remember our fallen heroes who died to protect our freedom. Happy Memorial Day to you and your family !
These are wonderful people, Sandie. You know, Mother Teresa was canonized a Saint not that long ago. She is one of my beloved Saints. I like what she said here about kindness in your face, eyes, and smile. I chuckled at the "drop something" quote, and so true, isn't it?

SWEET read I think of the mothers who waited for those in harm's way to return. I remember my mother's prayers during the late night hours of the early 1940s as her sons and kin were in WWII battles. Yes the families especially the mothers suffered untold anguish as the letters stopped coming and many never returned. God bless them all.

You honored great strong women on your blog today Sandie. I think what makes people rise to the challenges they face is courage, even if they are afraid. They keep putting one foot in front of the other and keep moving forward, trying to look for the best, even in the worst of times.
I honor today all those who have served in our military and those who died while doing so. They fought for our freedom and we need to honor them by enjoying our freedom and our rights. Safely of course. Our biggest right we need to exert this year is voting! And of course freedom to worship hopefully for those who want to in a church.

Anne Frank was certainly mature beyond her tender young years
My older son and granddaughter spent a month in Kolkata, India last year. they visited the Mother Theresa memorial . She really listened to the Lord's call on her life.

These women were all so remarkable! I am glad you have dedicated this post to them...everything else is about the soldiers. Which is GREAT, they are so brave. But it is good to include these women as well. I am with you about bending over. No more for me, I have to either get my grabber or call Phil.

Excellent post Sandie. Those people should be honored. I had never heard of Corrie Ten Boom. I think of Princess Diana often as a hero and I also want to add Oscar Schindler even though he is a man. Thank you for your beautiful post.

Wonderful post! I am a collector of quotes, poems, etc. and some of my favorites come from Mother Theresa. Anne Frank's words should be so comforting to us in this time. I can't even begin to imagine the isolation she had to live in for such a long time. Thanks for the beauty of this post as well as the laughter:)
All of the women you mentioned are heroes I admire. Whenever I go through a troublesome circumstance, Corrie ten Boom and her sister, Betsy always come to mind and I think if they could do it, so can I. This is a great post, Sandy. I think I love the real disco more!

What a wonderful post! Often when I've gotten restless I remember that Anne Frank's family would have been thrilled with my apartment, grocery stores and the ability to walk in a beautiful park. I need to keep remembering that. Take good care!

I know I'm late to this party but I have to add my parents to this list. My dad was in the British army during WWII and captured at Dunkirk. Held in German prison camps for 4 years and had his right ankle and jaw broken during that time. My mom and family were in Belgium. Grandparents hid British and American soldiers from the Germans. Belgium was under German occupation and my grandmother was put in prison for working with the Belgium underground. She was 57 when the war started. I have the award she received after the war from Dwight D. Eisenhower, Commanding General of United States Forces in the European Theater. Patty McDonald

You have choosen some excellent role models, strong willed women and some of my personal heroes. I recently purchased the Anne Frank sorry for my grand girl Addy. Mother Teresa was a true saint on this earth. Corrie, another angel of God and her sister too. I admire all these women. Thank you for sharing. I see you still have your humor too. A smile and some laughter goes a long way in these times. HUGS across the miles.
