January 28 Starting to Winter clean?

For a lot of us - our path looks like this right now . . .

So, what can you do to keep busy?

Start to clean out the house !

My daughter gave me the idea - for lent - instead of giving up something - which I tend to fail at - is to get rid of one thing every day for 40 days.  Lent doesn't start until March this year, but I am going to do it.

I think these things are great ideas!

I think if I started now, I could go all the way through lent. lol

Why do I hold on to some of those things?

I need to let go of some of these things!

I know AI is everywhere.  I never know if the photo is real or not - but I really don't care.  If something is cute - it's cute!

This is cute.

Thought for the day - especially in winter.

Inspiration:  DON'T WAIT

Helpful Hint:

If you buy a bunch of grapes - and like to take them off the vine like I do - I saw a great tip on Facebook.
Put the grapes on a towel - wrap the towel one side then the other - roll the grapes back and forth gently - and walla - open the towel and the grapes are all off the vines ready to eat!

Hey Friend....you offer a lot of good tips and ideas this morning. Love the grape tip! And...the poor little tree picture is too cute! Like you, I never know if something is AI. My daughters can look at something and say, that's not real, it's AI. Not sure I have anything left in this house to clean out, but what a wonderful way to declutter as well as cover Lent. I like your thinking. Hoping you all have plenty of sunshine today....we are expecting RAIN.

If I got rid of one thing for 40 days the house would be empty. I even have empty shelves in my closets. the only things I have on the list, are sheets/towels, a few cables I don't know what the go to and a few clothes in larger sizes. I am afraid to dump them because it might jinx me. ha ha
its a great idea, go for it...

I like the advice about the pursuit of tomorrow. We seem to spend a lifetime searching for something else in life.

I also love the idea of getting rid of something every day throughout lent. I bet my mother-in-law would keep getting back though.

God bless.

You are so right about always waiting for the next thing - and in essence wishing out lives away.
Good idea to get rid of something daily. I've been trying to work on getting rid of a lot of things. I keep a cardboard box in our spare room to put things in that I'm not using, and when it fills up, I take it to the donation center.
The picture of the tree growing over the wire is very cute!

Great suggestions, Sandie! I've been purging quite a bit this last year, but wish Tom would climb on board. (*sigh*)
I'm saving these memes to put in my Joy Journal.

I thought I'd already gotten rid of everything I wouldn't use, but since I moved, I've already started a bag of things tp donate to goodwill that I won't wear, clothes and shoes. I do like your idea though, My daughter is constantly getting rid of things they don't use and is very good at cleaning out the fridge too. Nothing grows mold in her house.

I've been cleaning like crazy and hubby took a BIG load of junk to donate to the thrift store yesterday. I need to take a break...I'm starting to throw away the good stuff! haha! The list...I'm having to work on #18. I'm too old to feel bad. Hugs!

I truly need to purge some things, too, so I love that list your daughter shared with you as a Lenten exercise. For years, instead of giving something for Lent, I would take on a new discipline, so this is right up my alley. Blessings!

I think many of us are going through things and sorting and giving away right now. These are great tips. I will enlarge it to read it better with my tired eyes. That was a great idea your daughter suggested giving one thing away each day. That is a strange looking tree with a cute face. I wonder if it is growing that way or enhanced by photo editing? I love the "people wait all day" quote, and it's so true. People are always looking forward to the next thing. And those little snowmen are delightful. Our path is going to look like that real soon. We're supposed to get snow in February. Your post made me smile today, Sandie. : )

You always have the best tips! These throw away ideas are so good! And believe it or not, I have already started doing it! When the weather is so freezing and we are stuck in the house is when I start cleaning and getting rid of things. PHOOEY on Spring cleaning, we all want to get out then! I have just thrown out several things, and made several trips to Goodwill.

As always you choose the BEST graphics. Good idea of getting rid of things. AND yes, we do HOLD onto things and cannot justify it, but we do. Thanks for a great read. Sending love your way.

At our last women's church group meeting, we were given a large bag and ask to participate in the same idea. Instead of giving up something for lent to give up something to the needy. One item a day. I think it's a great idea. Everyone of us has too many things that is just cluttering our homes.

That tree picture is just hilarious. Thanks for sharing. Hugs.

There is much I should get rid of....getting started is the hardest chore!

I like the idea for getting rid of things. I'll have to try it. I have a really hard time letting go of things which is why my decluttering efforts never get very far..
Some AI pictures are obvious but others are really hard to tell if it's real or not. I know trees can grow like that. I've seen some very strange looking trees.

Those are good tips. After losing so much weight I've had to slowly buy new clothes. I have resolved to get rid of at least two maybe three items of clothing as I buy one new one. So far, so good, I'm doing just that and have more room as well as clothes that actually fit and don't look like I'm wearing a potato sack.
It's 70* here today! Wahoo! Lovin' this more temperate weather. Hope yours is good today too.
Blessings. πŸ’ž

Wow I think you have had a bit of snow...we certainly have...your tips regarding Lent is a great idea. I do try to get things tossed or given a way on a regular basis...but that is some thing to try until March. As always I enjoyed my visit. Thanks too for your kind words concerning the loss of my friend. Hugs!

I am also getting rid of things I don’t need during the winter, I did my cook books yesterday, but one thing each day is a good idea.

Ahh, devining grapes. Or perhaps dewining.
