Happy Birthday Jane Addams and Joe Kennedy September 6

Jane Addams (September 6, 1860 – May 21, 1935) was a founder of the US Settlement House movement, and one of the first women to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. She was antiwar and a feminist. She started up the Hull House - which housed about 25 women. In addition she made services and cultural opportunities for the largely immigrant population of the neighborhood. (Wikipedia)

Can't say I'm antiwar and peace at all cost, however, back in the 1800's - you got to give her credit for even speaking up. "There is no greater gift than to be heard" - especially for a woman.

Joe Kennedy - Every body knows Joseph Kennedy, the Kennedy heritage. Money can't buy you happiness that's for sure - or extend your life. When it's time it's time, no matter who you are. He made lots of money and had lots of kids - he did lots of things that were wrong and illegal to get there.

Thought for the day~
