What can you do in Georgia with 1/2 inches of snow?

Well what can you do in Atlanta, Georgia when it snows 1/2 inch? Can you go to the store? Can you go to school? Can you drive out of your subdivion? No, no, and no.

Life as you know it changes for a few days. Schools close, you can't get out of your subdivision, so no you can't go to the store.

The problem is it rarely snows here - so there is no snow removal equipment. And while it might melt from the sun in the day - it can get cold enought at night to freeze and then there is a sheet of ice.

So what can you do?

Make snow balls?

You can slide down the driveway on a pizza pan!

Or slide down a little icy hill.

My grandson said that he had to do everything in one day, it doesn't snow that much in Georgia, and he had to do it when he could!

Sledding on the driveway with 1/8 inch of ice?

Winter wonderland scene.

That is all the snow we got - and they closed school - can you believe it?

Snow man and snow dog. How big go you think they are and what do you think he used for the brown button like things? And arms?

The snowman was 8 inches and the snow dog about 4. He used pretzels sticks for arms and acorn tops for yes - pretty clever,

He was so proud of himself (and grandpa).

Happy Birthday Naomi Judd:
In 1991, after selling more than 20 million albums and videos in seven years and at the pinnacle of their career, The Judds' reign came to an abrupt end because Naomi was diagnosed with Hepatitis C, a potentially fatal chronic liver disease that forced her retirement.

In 1991, Naomi created the Naomi Judd Education and Research Fund to raise awareness of the deadly Hepatitis C virus as well as research funds for the American Liver Foundation.

Sandie, looks like your little man had a blast, hummm only 1/2"? We didn't get any this time around, but in Dec we got almost 3".
Your right folks from up north in snow country think we are silly for closing schools with so little snow, but it's not really the snow that causes them to shut it down. It's the ice and road conditions...no ice trucks to deice the bridges or snow tires. My DIL moved down to MS with my son when they married, she had snow tires and couldn't understand why we all didn't...we don't need them that much.
Hope you have a great day, I'm taking my meds and headed back under the warm covers.

This shows the ingenuity of youth! He made the best of the situation and the memories made will be just as special as if it had been a foot of snow! Great post!

This brought a big smile to my face. At least that much snow fell in 45 minutes this morning here in Michigan, and I don't believe it was even in the forecast. :)

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. When life gives you 1/2" of snow, make tiny snowmen!

What a cutie your grandson is. Love his snowman and snowdog. Yes we are closed down due to the icy roads. Just as well, southerners do not know how to drive on it. s

Zowie! If like came to a screeching hault for you when you got 1/2 in. of snow, what would happen if you got 2 feet of the stuff, like we got!?! That is so funny to see - I can hardly believe it, but I know you're telling the truth! A pizza pan to sled with? Great idea! Go ANDY!

Those pictures are adorable but where is the picture of you (or Grandpa) sliding down the driveway in a pizza pan? That just sounds like the kind of life experience you should have joined in on ;>))).
I adored those miniature snow sculptures! Your little guy will remember this forever won't he?

Now I have to admit here in the Ozarks I've seen all sorts of things used as a sled but the pizza pan is a new one on this chick!

Have a greatly blessed day!

Amazing how that little snow can affect life but as you say, no equipment. I have about 15" on our lawn.

Hey Sandie!

I just can't imagine that 1/2 inch of snow would cause schools to close! lol I hope that you don't ever get the kind of snows we get here in West Virginia!

Your little man will remember this snow for the rest of his life! He will look back at those pictures you took and treasure those memories! The snowman sure was cute! I never gave any thought to using a pizza pan for a sled! That sure is a hoot!

If you get more snow this Winter you might want to try to use a card board box. My kids have tried it and it worked.

Hugs,
Angela

I am glad your grandson had enough snow to make a snowman and snowdog. It will be a great memory for him if you don't get snow for another ten years. But you sure could have some of our snow if you want. Have a lovely day.

Can I play with your snowman?
And then can we make snowcones?

Pretzels and acorn tops! I LOVE it! And a pizza pan for a sled...how fun and what wonderful memories for Andy..and Grandpa too!
I really think you need to bring in the snowman and snowdog(love it) and freeze them!
Funny how Georgia is not all that far away..but the weather is so much different than here in the Midwest...it takes 6 inches of snow and extreme below zero to close our schools!
Jalina Rose will need Andy to come here and teach her to build a snowman...to share his skills....and she will share with him the snow!
