Monday Musings

“Every thought is a seed. If you plant crab apples, don't count on harvesting Golden Delicious.”—Bill Meyer

In other words - we reap what we sew.

Here's a new song from George Strait. It is kind of interesting as he sings about a breathe is not that important - it's doing things that take your breathe away.

Now who says I'm not much of a cook? Not only am I a great cook (lol) I can show you how to have fun with your kids (I got this off the radio), get them to eat, and take their breathe away too. Now when I showed the GS this - he said, "NO WAY!" Hamburgers in the shape of a turtle?

Happy Birthday to Melanie Griffith - wikipedia

At age 14, Griffith began dating 22-year old actor Don Johnson who co-starred with her mother in The Harrad Experiment, in which Griffith was an extra. The relationship culminated in a six-month marriage in 1976. Tatum O'Neal has alleged in her 2004 autobiography that around that time, she (then 12) and Griffith (then 18) participated in an opium-filled orgy in a Paris hotel room.

In September 1981, Griffith married Steven Bauer, her co-star in the TV film She's in the Army Now. They have a son, Alexander, born in August 1985. The couple divorced in 1987. Griffith later admitted to having problems with cocaine and liquor after her divorce from Bauer. "What I did was drink myself to sleep at night," she said. "If I wasn't with someone, I was an unhappy girl."

She checked into rehab in 1988. During this time she reconciled with Johnson, became sober and pregnant. They remarried in June 1989. Their daughter, Dakota Johnson, was born on October 4, 1989. She left him six years later because of his own substance abuse problems, reconciled with him, then left him again for her leading man Antonio Banderas from the film Two Much. They finalized their divorce in February 1996.

Griffith and Banderas have been married since May 14, 1996. Their daughter, Stella Banderas, was born on September 24, 1998. In 2000, Griffith had her husband's first name "Antonio" inside of a heart tattooed on her right shoulder. In 2002, the couple received the Stella Adler Angel Award for their extensive charity work.

Dakota Johnson followed in her mother's footsteps and served as Miss Golden Globe at the 2006 Golden Globe Awards ceremony. She has become an actress as well. Griffith herself was Miss Golden Globe in 1975, a role usually given to the offspring of a celebrity, often as a launching pad to break into show business.

Griffith has struggled with drugs and alcohol through much of her life. In 2000, she sought treatment for addiction to painkillers. She returned to rehab in August 2009 for substance abuse problems. She left three months later and underwent surgery for skin cancer in December 2009.

Discussing Griffith’s treatment in rehab, Banderas said in April 2010, “The whole family took part, Stella included. I was there three times a week at a stretch, and we participated in group therapy with our daughter. It strengthened our relationship in many ways. We participated very directly, all of us." Griffith’s son Alexander and daughter Dakota were there, as was her former stepson Jessie and Griffith's mother, Tippi Hedren, too.

Hope she's clear now.

I don't think that I want my burgers shaped like anything other than burgers!

Mornin' Sandie...how's your day going? He hee...in the old days, I used to ask for George Strait to be in my Christmas stocking...for years, he was my ONLY request! Ahhh, got over that nonsense though! Those turtle burgers are a clever creation, and what fun to make those it would be!
Melanie G has had a life of excess and pain it sounds....having $$ doesn't stop the hurting does it.
Many times, it causes it.
Always enjoy reading what you've come up with for the day. I don't have the discipline to be able to post daily as you do! Hope life in GA is peachy!

Good Morning Sandie Sweetie...
Oh honey I have got to tell you, I think the grands would love these little burgers. I am going to have to give it a try. The boys especially would eat them up. I know them to well. You are one GREAT gram.

Interesting facts about Melanie that I didn't know. I had no idea she had struggled with any abuse of drugs at all. See even the ones with money still have daily problems. Money doesn't solve everything.

Love to pop over and read each day. You are such a delight to me. Thank you for sharing of your heart each day. I LOVE it.

Have a gorgeous day sweet friend. Many hugs and much love, Sherry

LOVE the new weekly quote! I am dodging the cars trying not to be a spot on the road! I don't think the turtle burgers would be on my list but heh, they are kinda weirdly cute? Love Melanie Griffith and she has fought hard to conquer her addictions. Happy Monday!

Hi Sandie...LOVED today's quote. Hilarious and SO TRUE.

The turtle burgers? Uhhhhh, I'm with Andy on that one! Ha! But they're unique. I'll give you that. You are so funny!

Take care, Sandie. Hope your day is wonderful. Susan

That song made me cry this morning. He drew a picture of my own dad. It blessed me. I loved it, and I love the truth behind it.

And I'm staring at your turtles trying to figure out exactly how you made them. We're past the "kid years" around here, but HOW FUN that would be with kids around.

In kindergarten, my girls had letters of the week. I used to try to make a fun Friday dinner with the letter. That would have been perfect for "T".

Good morning, dear Sandie. I can't see your George Strait video, as we have so many things blocked on our computer. All that shows up is a big blank piece of white. But I know the song you're talking about. It's one of my current favorites. I even blogged about it a couple weeks ago. It actually makes me cry.

The turtle hamburgers are very interesting, but they would be a no-go for daughter and me. We are not hotdog people at ALL. I struggle through hot dogs once a year. It's our tradition to watch the MLB All-Star game (which was about three or four weeks ago), and we have baseball food while we do so...hotdogs, popcorn, soda, and peanuts. I got my yearly hot dog down with considerable effort.

Have a great day.

Love,
Patti

Hiii Sandie .. Sorry, I'm late for the party!
So tickled to know there are other George Strait fans out there! Do you want to hear my own "George" story? Many(!) years ago in Abilene, my "ex" called with a last-minute invite -- to join several folks from his office at a "BYOB" party/dance at the coliseum.
Why not? Turns out, we were dancing just a few feet in front of a cute front-man/cowboy singing his "new" release, "Amarillo by Morning." No-one gave him as much as a second glance ...
Moving right along, I LOVE these turtle burgers!!! Won't you share the instructions?
Hugs,
Myra
